How I miss André Matos. I had the pleasure and the once in a lifetime opportunity to chat with them back in the era of Holy Land at the end of a show. They sat on the stage with us and had the most pleasant and friendly conversation. They really cared for their fans. RIP my brother!
Jesus, watching this video just made me cry. I was a 15yo kid in that very audience, it was my first metal concert ever, and I'm sure I'll NEVER forget that day. Remembering that day and Andre's tragic passing made me really emotional.
How I miss those days of Shaman, as well as Andre. You could see his passion for music in his eyes, as well as interviews. Anamaria is so knowledgeable about both Angra and Shaman. She seems to genuinely be a fan of them, and very open minded about what they bring to the table. I wonder where that started! Albums like Holy Land and Ritual is something a bit lost through time, but there’s still so much good music coming everywhere both in Brazil and abroad. I hope the channel continues to do well, and that your passion for music never wavers.

This honest tribute will help us to to remind us of what Andre matos was capable of. He was a a versatile, well-educated vocalist and had the wisdom to gather musicians just as he was to create a band with his own roots. Another really good job from Anamaria, who took the time to research about this beautiful band. Thanks a lot! Andre is a unique part of metal worldwide, not only a composer, but a maestro, one of the most skilled singer in the metal scene (he was going to asssume Iron Maiden's vocal but Bruce returned to the band), he was able to speak many languages and had a deep understanding of literature and culture so he brought it to Shaman's lyrics and rythims. I didn't expect the guy to know that, but in my head still holds the question: "Does he like Metal?". Expected to hear some deeper analysis than "hot chicks in Brazil", "is the same singer?" or even "unecessary piano part". I would like to recommend a channel from two hip hop heads who react to metal music, its called Lost In Vegas. That is how you react to songs, even that ones that you don't like, being respectful and bringing some explanation and interpretation. Don't expect you to be like them, but I am just curious about your interpretation of the many layers that the metal music can bring to us. Enough said, keep working! \m/

@@MetalAcademix Symfonia, once called the power metal supergroup, was a band formed by Andre Matos, Timo Tolkki and Jari (Strato), Uli Kusch (Helloween) and Mikko Harkin (Sonata). It did not last long (around 2 years) with only 1 album released, In Paradisum, and that is what makes this album interesting. The band had a huge potential and is one of my favourite albums. As Annamaria, I normally enjoy the less popular songs, however, I really like the whole album. Highlights are: I Walk in Neon (my favourite), Fields of Avalon, Forevermore and In Paradisum. I just looked it up on Wikipedia (where else?) and saw that they write: Fairy Tale (Gregorian Version) - Shaman (theme of Bóris). A Gregorian version, as in a chant, a capella version? That would be different! I hope Bóris was the good guy in the series. -Anamaria

I was about 14/15 when I went in my first Rock concert and it was the 2000 world tour. I'm a Huge fan, specially Episode. A perfect álbum. All the tracks. First to Last. Like Seventh Son from Iron Maiden, Holy Land and Rebirth from Angra and Keeper of Seven Keys, Episode is a definition of a perfect Power Metal record. (And I still miss my old Destiny T Shirt 😢)

Olá! I don't have too much of a preference on vocals really, but I'd say bassier tones (more into the guitar riffs at the end of the day). After thinking more about it, one thing uniting Angra and Shaman apart from Andre is their progressive song structure, which I'm just not super into. Definitely super talented musicians, but I find that if you can't figure out what's coming next, it's hard to get into on a first listen. -Michael

Ok, so the deal is: as far as i have noticed, the girl is well educated on heavy metal and the guy is exploring, discovering and such. Excellent, i like it. NOW, that being said, it would be fantastic to see HER reacting to something new, something that she has never heard before, for a change (alongside with him, of course). As for that, I would like to recommend a brazilian band, called Arandu Arakuaa, which is, quite frankly, unlike any other band you've heard on the channel, and very much original and creative. The band's second album pulls to a more heavy metal side with a hint of Gotico. Listen to the album on Spotify Shaman - Reason, I highly recommend it.
Ok, so the deal is: as far as i have noticed, the girl is well educated on heavy metal and the guy is exploring, discovering and such. Excellent, i like it. NOW, that being said, it would be fantastic to see HER reacting to something new, something that she has never heard before, for a change (alongside with him, of course). As for that, I would like to recommend a brazilian band, called Arandu Arakuaa, which is, quite frankly, unlike any other band you've heard on the channel, and very much original and creative. Respecting your format of three songs per band when diving deep into them, i would go as far a to recommend the following three songs, each one from an album of the band, covering their discography so far:

Thank you, Leonardo, for recommending *Arandu Arakuaa*! I only listened to the songs you included but my curiosity is already piqued. I liked the contrast between the soft and harsh music, not only in the vocal segments but also for the instruments. Definitely worth digging into!
