Most so-called "grey" Jedi are closer to actual Jedi philosophy than mainstream Jedi. Ahsoka is certainly one example, but the greatest example would be Revan. He started as a Jedi, went full Sith, then returned to the Light. More than anyone, he had perspective that most--if not all--Jedi and Sith lacked. Of course, no one listened. Malak betrayed him, as did the Sith under Malak's command (by extension, if not on purpose) and even after saving the Republic and destroying both Malak and the Star Forge the Jedi refused to listen to him as well.
The Jedi Order made a lot of mistakes during and before the clone wars, but perhaps their most greivous was the fact that they focused on protecting the republic as a governemnt instead of as a people, yes the Jedi serve the republic, but they serve it's people not it's politicians. I think the Jedi order forgot that.

I agree 100% with the interpretation offered in this video but more importantly, I think it highlights why Ahsoka Tano is the most popular Star Wars character outside of the (official) movie cannon world. Ahsoka just has a sense and sensibility about her that causes everyone to deeply admire and respect her. And yet, despite her high level of emotional intelligence and physical prowess, she's also very human, has her crappy moments, makes mistakes like everyone else. This was a moment with an extreme meaning for not just the Jedi Order, but for the Republic and the Empire. Baross was right in way. The Jedi have fallen far from the light but what really angered me about her was when she abused her friendship with Asokha, framing her for the murder and the assassionation appempts on the Jedi. Which made Ashoka question the Jedi and forcing her to leave and abandon Anaikin when he needed her the most
Asoka was more true to the code, she actually became this bc she was basically the padawan to Anakin and obi won bc they worked together so much. Anakin was the reckless but passionate master and obi won was the opposite , cautious yet passionate master. Asoka was influenced so much by both in this unusual training bc of the clone wars that she was a good combo. She was cautious at times but also new when to be more recklass just not always like anakin. She was the perfect combo of a true Jedi. She would have been the perfect master for luke and the new order too bad that never happened.

She was so right about the Jedi Order. The force was unbalanced and favored the dark side......but Barris still could see how much the Jedi Order had fallen while the likes of Yoda could not.
I never really understood that episode of Clone Wars. It doesn't make sense. How were the Jedi responsible for the war? They led the troops, but if they didn't, there were clearly plenty of other capable non-Jedi, non-clones running the military. One might argue that they enabled Palpatine's hard line stance against the Separatists, but he already had the legal authority to create the clone army and declare war without the help of the Jedi. At worst, maybe you could say that the Jedi knowingly or willfully ignored that they supported a corrupt government, but we saw several instances in Clone Wars of the Jedi standing up to and arresting corrupt senators. Once the war started, what were the Jedi supposed to do? Refuse to fight? If they did that, billions of people would have been killed or enslaved by the Separatists. As for not trusting Ahsoka, what were they supposed to do? Openly defy the law when there was a reasonable amount of evidence to warrant extradition? I don't think trust was an issue at all. They were forced to let Ahsoka go. Even Anakin knew that. I could see the argument that the Jedi made very poor tactical decisions, against both threats within and outside of the Republic, but to say that they were responsible for the war and/or were remotely immoral seems factually incorrect to me.
The events of geonosis, a jedi gets captured on a mission, the jedis deploy a strike team and also sent an unothorized army to capture geonosis leading to the beginning of the clone wars. So yeah they started the war.
> "Once the war started, what were the Jedi supposed to do? Refuse to fight? " Yep. Thats exactly what they should have done IMO. If the jedi had pulled their support for the war, that would have cast MAJOR doubt as to its legitimacy. That could have cleared the way for peaceful negotiations (at the very least it would have ruined Palpatine's plan) > If they did that, billions of people would have been killed or enslaved by the Separatists. Billions were killed FIGHTING the war. The Jedi enabled that. And moreover, why are these matters the Jedi's role? Why should they be space police? Jedi were not meant to be soldiers: theyre supposed to be a hermetic sect devoted to studying the wonder of the universe, and, at most, rooting out corrupting dark side influences. Politics is not at all within their mandate, but they took it, and it weakened their connection to the force as a result, proving they shouldnt have been involved in the first place. They were given multiple warnings of what was to come, that they were being played before Barriss' fall, such as Five's death or the revelation that Dooku straight up gave them their army. And they ignored those warnings. Barriss was right: the Jedi were fighting for the dark side, they were just too arrogant to see it.
This has always bothered me, so maybe someone here can explain it - what did Barriss want the Jedi to do? Just stop fighting in the war, leave it up to the clone army and the Republic and sit in their temple until things resolved themselves one way or the other? I suppose they could try to negotiate a peaceful settlement, but the Sith involvement was pretty well-known to the Jedi, so the likelihood that they would agree to peace seems pretty low. Would standing by and letting Wat Tambor starve, enslave and rob Ryloth really be more ethical?
Leaving the war would be a terrible choice for all sides, even the C.I.S. Barriss noticed these flaws in the Order after the Battle of Genosis and spent close to three years deciding what to do. After losing so many brethren to the Battle of Genosis, the first few months of the war did the most damage to every Jedi's faith in their leaders. It would have been easy to rally support and get the Jedi to leave, or many to break apart from the old Order. But she choose not to. Instead, she waited until the end of the war, something everyone knew was nearing. She choose to break the Jedi Order, planned it so she would be caught. She knew the political and military effects this would have. She entered prison for safety from the outcome.
@@davidholoka3365 You really think so? That sounds super interesting, I actually think barris can make up for a great story, she has so much potential, mostly because she predicted all of it
@@animefan133 Early in the Clone Wars, she was able to sense Plo Koon across an entire star system which lead them to the Malevolence. I really only think Old Republic Jedi could pull off a feat like that. Secondly, Ahsoka likely has a photographic memory, and is a great duelist because of it. As well as her motion sense and foresight. Lastly, she was able to fight General Grievous to a complete standstill during her defense of the younglings. The Council stated that only Obi-Wan could kill Grievous, and only because his skill and cleverness. With all of that in mind, Ahsoka would have been able to easily sense Barriss behind the mask and win against the half-trained healer. I think one of them may have sensed Order 66 in visions or could have just used logic to realize it was coming and planned this as a way to ensure both could survive the war's end.
I don’t think enough has been done regarding barriss’ story. We really don’t know if she is still alive and if so what would she have done? Maybe an inquisitor, but I think she would be hiding like a hermit, and have a big sacrifice moment which would redeem her for be false judgement here.
I still have an immense distaste for followers who end up in the villains' camp by way of 'My heroes were less than pure and I must destroy them', like Barriss and the Arrowverse version of Artemis. This isn't a thought process, it is a grief-induced spasm, and is dangerous.
Ahsoka Tano is my favorite Star Wars character and can't lie AHSOKA is also my fav Canon novel lol 😜✌ Ahsoka has such a great simple story that dug deep into the heart ♥ and mind of Snips😞 struggle with the deaths of every Jedi. Especially Skyguy & Kenobi. That 📖 added amazing layers to the Canon. I luv this video! 👍👍 Thx always putting out great content MTFBWY ✊😑
Barriss Offee is one of my favorite Jedi. She is like a younger Dooku. I want to see her as a dark Jedi in new content who may be working with Thrawn, and is taking the place of C’Bayoth. I think we are going to see C’Bayoth in Ahsoka quite possibly. I’d also love to see her maybe be the one on Wayland in Bad Batch. She could be paid by the empire to teach the force to these dark side clone experiments. Or she could also be looking for Ahsoka and mend her relationship with her in the Ahsoka show.
The last episode of the clone war is truly earth breaking but in therm of realistic not much. Barriss know that there a Sith lord and apprentice who make war again the republic. The jedi are going there best to protect the republic. Palpatine of course use a military strategist to make the war longer. he don't attack the enemy base. He stop all attack from the enemy planet after planet. The Jedi are under the control of the senate who are under control. Barriss who attack the Jedi temple it stupid, she should have attack Palpatine. Ahsoka should have meet Palpatine in the clone war. She should have fell some thing not right. A politician friend with Jedi when he was a teenager.
I absolutely share Ahsoka's compassion for Barriss and wow does that line "We should be put on trial! All of us!" have so much more meaning after TLJ. I have long viewed it as the fault of the Jedi for Anakin's fall to the dark side, and I think the exchange between Ahsoka and Anakin at the end of that episode really shows how close Anakin was to his fall at that point in time. Ahsoka leaving must have torn him in half and I would love for there to be more detail revealed about Twilight of the Apprentice to elaborate on Ahsoka's line "I won't leave you again", why Vader was limping and what is Ahsoka's fate. I mean, just what the heck happened during that fight dang it?! 😫
They really hate the males man, MALE JEDI: Goes to an isolated planet and becomes a hermit. FEMALE JEDI:Does something heroic after order 66 not to hate on my gild asoka tho
Horsie Meow Obi Wan doesn’t become a hermit, he had a purpose on Tatooine which was to protect Luke Skywalker & when time allowed guide him to a path to help restore balance to the force. It made sense because in Obi-Wan’s mind he failed Anakin & by taking care of his son & guiding him this would redeem him.
The original purpose of the Jedi is to obey the will of the force. That includes the dark side of the force if the force’s will is dark sided. Ashoka how ever always does what is right and is on the side of life. Making Ashoka not a Jedi at all but instead just a good person. Which is much better anyway
Personally I think The galactic republic and old Jedi order are to blame for Barrisse's betrayal. Just as they were responsible for dooku's embrace of the darkside. Edit: Ahsoka is like Qui Gon. Hope they meet in the force
While Barris was right about the Jedi being manipulated into fighting on the side of the dark, since the leadership of the Republic was in Darth Sidious' hands, did she know this fact? I doubt it. Over the course of the Clone Wars, countless Jedi and Clone soldiers fought bravely and gave their lives to protect the people of the Republic. She is right about the clone wars being a calamity, but she is wrong to say that the Jedi have become bad guys. Where did she ever try to inform anyone that she had apprehensions about the course of the war and where it was headed? By bombing the temple and killing people as a terrorist?Where did she take a stand against the creeping infiltration of the dark side? By betraying her friend, using her force ability to act as an assassin a la a discount Ventris?
In other words Ashoka saw what was going on within the Order & listened but the Order was dead set in their ways which would lead to the Jedi's downfall. Nice going guys nice going.

I would love to see Ashoka in anything outside of the CW or SWR. But I have my doubts.
Broken Bridge I do agree about the doubt thing. It would not be easy to make it work in episode 8 or 9. It was just an idea
Doesn't Barriss look like the sister inquisitor
You mean the Seventh Sister? They're the same species but the show has confirmed they are unrelated.
Not really. They're both Mirialan, but they have completely different facial tattoos and speech patterns, accents, etc.
Darth Perdition Seventh Sister was Mirialan, like Luminara and Barriss.
@@creatoruser736 how when?
@@Chaos-94 Darth Vader was a jedi but when he became sith it changed the dark side changes u, ur speech patterns and yes cannonicakly even your tattoo if u went deep enough. Also a world with magic ships that blow up planets I believe someone can change tattoos....
Very insightful and well spoken
I've always considered Barriss to be one of the first Rebels against a fledgling Empire
She was so right about the Jedi Order. The force was unbalanced and favored the dark side......but Barris still could see how much the Jedi Order had fallen while the likes of Yoda could not.
Legends Barriss is better.
I wonder how Luminara reacted to her whole ass padawan falling to the dark side
Oh no
Anyway
Yep. Thats exactly what they should have done IMO. If the jedi had pulled their support for the war, that would have cast MAJOR doubt as to its legitimacy. That could have cleared the way for peaceful negotiations (at the very least it would have ruined Palpatine's plan)
> If they did that, billions of people would have been killed or enslaved by the Separatists.
I feel that she hastened the fall of the Republic that she sought to protect.
Love your voice. Thanks for talking about this decisive moment and many other👍🤗
I wonder what was master luminara reaction to Barris offee's turn to the dark side. 🤔
She was right in everything she said. The jedi were the army of the darkness and they have lost their way
This has always bothered me, so maybe someone here can explain it - what did Barriss want the Jedi to do?
@@davidholoka3365
You really think so?
That sounds super interesting,
I actually think barris can make up for a great story, she has so much potential, mostly because she predicted all of it
@@animefan133 I also believe Ahsoka was in on it. That she helped plan it.
@@davidholoka3365
Why do you think so tho?
Read legends Barriss, specifically the Medstar books.
thanks for making this video
I wonder what luminara reaction was?
That could explain why she also said I am no Jedi.
I still have an immense distaste for followers who end up in the villains' camp by way of 'My heroes were less than pure and I must destroy them', like Barriss and the Arrowverse version of Artemis. This isn't a thought process, it is a grief-induced spasm, and is dangerous.
but Artemis is just a really bad character. a wannabe black canary/green arrow
Ahsoka Tano is my favorite Star Wars character and can't lie AHSOKA is also my fav Canon novel lol 😜✌
Ahsoka has such a great simple story that dug deep into the heart ♥ and mind of Snips😞 struggle with the deaths of every Jedi. Especially Skyguy & Kenobi. That 📖 added amazing layers to the Canon. I luv this video! 👍👍 Thx always putting out great content MTFBWY ✊😑
Same here!
At 0:23 you can see the regret and sadness on their faces
I’m surprised sideous didn’t try to recruit her
Video: If not for meeeee
*Video buffers*
Me: *AUTISTIC SCREECHING*
From a PR point of view, this made possible for Palpatine to justify the "coup" from the Jedi. They had to be stopped.
Greg Dennison watch Rebels episode "A World Between Worlds" and you'll see what happened.
Greg Dennison No wonder why Luke in the beginning of TLJ thought ending the Jedi was a good idea.
i can see palpatine is smiling on the inside. while he is hearing bariss' confistion
Imo...Ahsoka would have made a powerful sith.
Ric Ancira
Darth Snips
They really hate the males man,
MALE JEDI: Goes to an isolated planet and becomes a hermit.
FEMALE JEDI:Does something heroic after order 66
not to hate on my gild asoka tho
Horsie Meow Obi Wan doesn’t become a hermit, he had a purpose on Tatooine which was to protect Luke Skywalker & when time allowed guide him to a path to help restore balance to the force. It made sense because in Obi-Wan’s mind he failed Anakin & by taking care of his son & guiding him this would redeem him.
Obi wan went to exile to protect Luke
The original purpose of the Jedi is to obey the will of the force. That includes the dark side of the force if the force’s will is dark sided. Ashoka how ever always does what is right and is on the side of life. Making Ashoka not a Jedi at all but instead just a good person. Which is much better anyway
Personally I think The galactic republic and old Jedi order are to blame for Barrisse's betrayal. Just as they were responsible for dooku's embrace of the darkside.
Edit: Ahsoka is like Qui Gon. Hope they meet in the force
Otari Muradishvili Shes to blame for her actions, no one else.
What was the background audio you used? I like it, it's both creepy and intuitive.
Wow that was Deep !.. Good job Star Wars Reading Club Guy. IMO :)
Why were mynocks inside of the space slug? And how did they get there?
Can you show us what Luminara thought of her padawan bombing the temple and what happened to Bariss after Order 66?
By betraying her friend, using her force ability to act as an assassin a la a discount Ventris?
it's foolish how jedi are trained-as it is foolish to take them as children.
So the youngling ones I knew have become a MASTER
Funniest thing ever xD putting that Darth Vader line in
Always wondered what happened to cute green freckles
If only Disney had listened to you before traveling down the Canon path. I really enjoyed the video.
But where did she get new lightsabers from after the bombing
"That name no longer has any meaning to me." Lol!
I think this is well thought out. I did read this book. I too want to know what happened to Offee.
Great video!! 🙂👍👍🌠
I like the video and can you do a video on how luminara reacted to her padawan's betral
2:23 had me crying LMAO
I want to know what happened to Ashoka during the rebel alliance days. Did she die? Did she just drop out of existence?
Disney should have done two episodes to cover the Ahsoka Tano story! One 20 minute episode.
When I'm the new sith lord, but most keep calling me the second grand inquisitor. "That name no longer has any meaning for me."
Bariss Offee probably is alive.
Xcyper33 no she isnt, it was shown that she was dead in star wars rebels
Well the writer behind Rebels confirmed that he still had plans for Baris. She died in Legends but not confirmed in canon.
Floris Van zalingen this was her master luminara unduli
Floris Van zalingen She died in Legends, we don't know if she exactly died in Canon.
The sad thing is: Barris was right
Great Video!!! You Also Have A Cool Voice, By The Way, LOL!!! 👍
In other words Ashoka saw what was going on within the Order & listened but the Order was dead set in their ways which would lead to the Jedi's downfall. Nice going guys nice going.
It's too bad they ruined such a nice character.
actually it may make a great new story if they ever bring her back. nothing is as strong as redemption and forgiveness to motivate someone´s story
@@ryandanielable Legends Barriss would have never bombed the Jedi Temple. She was 100 times more fleshed out than clone wars barriss. Personally, I don't think Barriss bombed the temple. I just pretend it didn't happen.
One of the biggest things I hate about Clone Wars was how they ruined Barriss's character.
I'd rather watch a movie with Ahsoka over Rey any time.
Nice stuff
What happen to Bariss after order 66?
This is outrageous!
Need a 2022 version if there’s any updates with how Disney is trying to CHANGE previous film
I think if I were a character in Star Wars I would like to meet her. Pretty interesting what she could teach me
That name no longer has any meaning for me! DDeV.VI...auto correct...
One thing I'm curious about. You keep saying "We love making these videos". So, you're not a one man show? If that's true, is there a video about you and the rest of the crew who make this excellent channel possible?
I think it would be fun to see Asoka find Barris and fight side by side with her. "You were very wrong in WHAT you did, but I'll be damned if your reasons weren't spot on. I fully understand. May I join you in this battle? As friends."
Though, to be honest, I think Barris was killed in Order 66. She was a Force user, a confessed terrorist a held captive in prison. It would stretch my suspension of disbelief if they brought her back.
What is that appendage on top of Ahsoka's head? I've been meaning to ask that question for a long time
Quite simply head tails, they give togrutas a few abilities.
Michael Beasley Those are Ahsoka's Montrals atop her head and her Lekku (Twi'leks also have Lekku) are hanging down her shoulders. ✌😉
I was happy to learn what both of those things were. The lekku can express emotions and are pretty 🔑 additions to those species
Grand Admiral Bendu Thank you, i actually looked it up on Wookieepedia abt a minute after thati posted that comment lol Not sure why that didn't occur to me before I posted that comment but thank you for getting back with me so quick
Pretty sure Barris was a Jedi Knight by that point
So is Barris still alive?
What happened to Barris after order 66
Idk maybe Vader took me as his prisoner?
How did Luminara reacts to Barriss' betrayal
The Jedi Order at that point of time had lost its way and did need a bit of a course correction, but beyond that she is wrong and lost any sort of standing the moment she decided to bomb the temple.
Your videos are good, but the editing was always a bit boring, but this is very good, keep this visualization style!
Good stuff :)
Bariss became one of the Inquisitors didn't she?
