I LOVE your channel. You are a true fisherman. I envy your adventures. Thank you for, providing so much fun entertainment. Please be safe out there. Cheers buddy. Doc David
Man I love this dude. Every time he see something, he goes for it. That is what I’m talking about. I love it!!! Keep doing. I was going to say, is he going for the shark????
I like how you didn't panic like a lot of people would have and caused more trouble for themselves. A large J-hook to the face is usually the best deterrent.
I can't believe how they blend in with that clear water. Look at Steve with no fear, and they can sense it. I saw one angler start hammering away trying to keep jabbing a hammerhead, halph that size and that shark went from a little curious, to pissed. They're terortorial and will get their way. This big boy was just being nosy, probably saying what is this big blue thing, in my water. But because Steve didn't freak out, start jabbing it. This hammer was just being nosy, and sticking ariound for a while, Epic video, Steve.
Steve you are a braver man than me! Yesterday I was crossing shark channel when a 8ft or so hammerhead popped up out of nowhere. I was in one of the hobie tandem kayaks by myself with no ballast in the other seating position and I was worried that he would tip me over so I hauled ass across the channel lol. I am primarily a fly fisherman so I was mainly looking for bonefish around Geiger key, I saw 3 groups of bonefish but only after I spooked them lol. The only thing I hooked was a 4 ft nurse shark but I forgot I only had 12lb tippet so obviously I lost it.
Yea, when the Tarpon show up, the Hammers will be right with them. That channel will be a blood bath with the Sharks. Hopefully the flats fish will get back in after the weekend breeze.
This video is awesome 👏🏻 that was sick I love how clam you are with the sharks. Saw someone else’s vid and he was hitting a hammer head with his Patel cause it got to close to his kayak I’m sure he was scared I felt bad for the poor fish
Man that was awesome!!!!!! The Hammerhead is my 2nd most favorite shark to catch!!! That was awesome watching that!!! I'm not sure who was playing with who that was awesome footage!!!!
He gave me plenty of filming opportunities which was really nice. He hung around for around 15 minutes before I hooked him up and chased him away. I bet if I would have kept fishing he would have come back.
He most certainly did!!! I say he would have come back for another bite!!!! It was pretty awesome to see!!! The smaller Hammerheads are my favorite eating ones!!!
Let me ask you this...is it safe to be out there in a kayak with the sharks? I think that's what stops me going out in the gulf to kayak fish! If you fell in would the sharks get you?
Need really strong mono leaders the length of the shark with even stronger trace leaders to survive the teeth. One time I hooked on a bull about the same size and it didn't even run. I just reeled the Kayak to the Shark. It took five minutes. The fact this one bit your bait means to me at least that there is very little tarpon around. I've seen them straight up ignore live mullet when the tarpon are thick.
How do you stay in one spot out there in the kayak? Or do you just drift? And if you just drift how often do you have to move back to your fishing spot?
That was pretty cool! I did notice, one of the underwater shots, your shark had a long line trailing him. I haven't ever caught a hammerhead. Caught lots of other sharks, though. The world record hammerhead shark was caught on a boat about the same size of your kayak, but much wider, i think off Palm Beach. Anyways good vid- exciting!
Yea, you could tell he associated food with boats. Lots of boats fish those outlets so constant easy food supply for him. Most people aren't rigged for a shark so hes probably eaten quite a few hooks.
@@lucasfff1370 Yes I understand what you are saying, but still it's barely above water so that a shark could easily come into contact with it. What if a shark went after a fish you were reeling in and got caught up. Even if it's teeth got caught on the net, it probably wouldn't be a good situation. Sharks do some unpredictable things at times. Like the videos of sharks getting caught up in the ropes on top of cages above the water line. Anyway, the whole idea of kayaking in the ocean is more than sketchy to begin with.
strange part is what was evolution thinking when it comes to hammerheads. They are open water predators same as most (not all) species of sharks, but this one is 100% different to all others.
Thanks. I hid the rest of the video in parts of ten of my old videos. You just have to watch all 300 and piece together the clues. LOL. The line broke so have no clue. Now, you can have a restful nights sleep. Unless I am just messing with you again. LOL.
That is pretty spooky, but he wasn't a monster, at least he didn't look like it from my laptop. I've been closely inspected by several big Hammers of at least 11 feet and they looked much larger than that. First time I ever worked on a charter boat, the biggest hammer I've ever seen stole a Tinker mackerel basically out of my hands as I was getting ready to let it out on the kite.
Hey dude i want to buy a kayak for this summer but i have a little afraid for the sharks you know if i meet a shark with my kayak i don't know what must to do.!! What you think.
I've used Spider Wire sense like for ever!!! I tried Power Pro and it broke 5 times in a row just casting!!! New line! Had it on my reel for like 3 hrs. Then respooled with Spider Wire. It's trash as far as I'm concerned. SW hasn't ever done that. I'd never use PP ever again.
He was a bit more excited than most Sharks I see. It was a younger shark so full of energy. It was running around trying to catch little Ballyhoo. It was pretty funny.
Why would you hook an animal just for the hell of it. Feed me feed me so being a kind humanbeing a I stuck a hook in its mouth So now it swims in pain still with a hook till it finally disolves. Kudos a hole.
Hammers not so much until Tarpon season then they follow the migration in. That is when you will see packs of them hanging out at the outlets waiting for hooked tarpon to start struggling. Free meal.
"You want some?!...I'll give you some!" Like you're pumping yourself up for a fight. Love it!
Yea, that kind of thing usually ends badly.
no clickbait with this youtuber
Thanks. Just make good content and no need.
I LOVE your channel. You are a true fisherman. I envy your adventures. Thank you for, providing so much fun entertainment. Please be safe out there. Cheers buddy. Doc David
Thanks for checking them out Doc David. Glad you are liking them.
is it called a sonar... the "screen" there on your kayak?
Just started watching your videos a few weeks ago and I can't stop lol! Great stuff... Keep it up man...
Beautiful scalloped hammerhead and I could feel your rod bend. Looked great fun :)
Man I love this dude. Every time he see something, he goes for it. That is what I’m talking about. I love it!!! Keep doing. I was going to say, is he going for the shark????
Please keep posting videos! I'm a little north of you on the gulf side. What you catch today we'll see in our waters in a few weeks
We're waiting for the tarpon and Kings to return here. What size and length leader do you use? I use 10 feet of 60lb floral. Should I use 80#?
That'll work fine. I use 80# because I like to horse them in and release them as quick as possible. I use 40-60# when throwing plastics at them.
Good stuff Steve! That line scream was niiiice!
Thanks. Put a little too much heat on it. If I only was able to get that kayak turned, it would have been a fun ride.
This is awesome!!!! That above angle shot where you can see the kayak and the hammerhead in the same frame is sick, thanks for posting!
Thanks Long Island. Working on getting more camera angles. Yea, generally it is hard to get the gist of how big things are when you are on a kayak.
Great videos hands down my favorite RUclips channel
Appreciate the compliment.
shark says "forget the fish, get in the water mr. fisherman, and then let's play"
Definitely seemed that way
I like how you didn't panic like a lot of people would have and caused more trouble for themselves. A large J-hook to the face is usually the best deterrent.
That would probably make me a little uncomfortable.
They don't like beards so you would be fine. It gets in their teeth.
phew, that's a relief
I have heard of poking a bear with a stick but slapping a shark with a fishing pole is a new one lmao
Being from Minnesota, I would be scared to death, having that big of a shark by me. You didn't act like it even bothered you.
I can't believe how they blend in with that clear water. Look at Steve with no fear, and they can sense it. nice and calming videos love them
Makes you want to go swimming.
hahahaha seems like you were the one stalking him! ... great video! i would have not stayed around with the shark
florida fisherman . sooo chillll . laid back island
he doesnt even need to oclickbait cause his content is so good ;D
Love you brother!!!
Appreciate it.
Fantastic footage. Crazy, but fantastic.
Thanks John. He was very photogenic and cooperative.

Kayak goes into the water....you go into the kayak......sharks in the water.....'Fair well and ado to my fair spanish lady....' Great shark video....
Duhm, Duhm, Duh dum, duh dum,
.. our shark
The view from up above, reminding me when i open my fish tank to feed them
This video is awesome 👏🏻 that was sick I love how clam you are with the sharks. Saw someone else’s vid and he was hitting a hammer head with his Patel cause it got to close to his kayak I’m sure he was scared I felt bad for the poor fish
Funny that you mention bc I'm here after watching that video like 10 min ago.
Steve, You are f'in hilarious...talking to a fish and hitting it with your rod... entertainment at its best... shite! Tight lines
Gotta make sure they understand the food chain. Thumbs. It's all about who has the thumbs.
i like ur set up looks stable ! outboard is a nice idea
Yea, it is. Definitely gives you confidence being out there when it is sloppy.
+Key West Kayak Fishing i bet especially when u have a shark circling u :)
I always wondered do you have to register the kayak or motor or not?
Man that was awesome!!!!!! The Hammerhead is my 2nd most favorite shark to catch!!! That was awesome watching that!!! I'm not sure who was playing with who that was awesome footage!!!!

Love your discussion with the shark
Love your vids
Thanks for watching Bj.
I think that shark wanted you more than that fish. Nice video thanks
Just curious, did you have a flouro leader or braid straight to hook? What knot did you have the hook tied with, Palomar?
Always use a leader in saltwater. Loop knot with lures and live bait. Palomar for lighter weight leaders. Cinch knot for heavy leaders.
Beautiful but scary as hell. :O))) you the man tight lines!!!!!
It was a spunky little guy. Posed really well for photos.

Local feeder. He had hooks in his face from ripping off the other boats.
How do you stay in one spot out there in the kayak? Or do you just drift? And if you just drift how often do you have to move back to your fishing spot?
I was anchored. It was out on an inlet/outlet so the current rips like a river.
Your gonna need a bigger boat..............haaaaaaaa!!!!
I couldn't resist...love the way you multitask it all....amazing vids ..thanks!!!
Thanks. I knew it was going to be a quick fight. No time to be mucking around.
What type of knot you use to attach your main braid line to the fluorocarbon leader. Great video as usual.
Gets mad at shard for not eating bait. Smacks him with fishing rod*
Isn't that what those long stick things are for.
lol
git xd
Looks like I need to teach you to tie a Bimini twist on that braid.😎😜
Learning more useless stuff I see. LOL.

If you just stretch a net from your canoe to your floater, you will have a lot more space to throw stuff on
Lucas FFF kayak and ama
He might also have a large shark caught up in the net and thrashing him about.
@@Wigglythegreat2 obviously the net should be suspended above the water

Spooky!
Now every time you move a log in the water, you'll not do it so confidently. LOL.
Sharks really do have the prettiest eyes.
Famous Last words " This is stupid but... I am a fisherman"
It fits though. Too many people just film it in awe. Heck no, catch that sucker.
Good to see that the shark seemed healthy as it appeared to have a hook in the corner of its mouth
Yea, those boat feeders probably eat a few hooks a day. Just iron supplements for them. Keeps their skin healthy.
The shark seems to be more intelligent than the fisherman.
"Shite"
"Fudgers"
- Steve, 2k17
Yea, trying to keep a balance. LOL.
love how you booped it in the head haha
Yea, I treat them like dogs. Just need a little reminder on what is allowed and what is not allowed.
strange part is what was evolution thinking when it comes to hammerheads. They are open water predators same as most (not all) species of sharks, but this one is 100% different to all others.
At 0:56 "EYE SEE YOU!!!!!!!" XD
That's fucking bad ass. Still waiting on the Godamn rest of the video from last time tho.
Thanks. I hid the rest of the video in parts of ten of my old videos. You just have to watch all 300 and piece together the clues. LOL. The line broke so have no clue. Now, you can have a restful nights sleep. Unless I am just messing with you again. LOL.
good footage!! i wouldnt have been as calm i dont think!!!
What I have learned doing not so smart things is that in the end, screaming like a little girl never helps out. LOL.
Taunting the large man in the grey suit.
We were just messing with each other. Until one of us got poked in the eye.
where did you get your outrigger. and how did you mount your motor?
shark probably thinks that you are a big fish floating in the water
He was mad i took his lunch.
lol
I had to stop watching to clean my pants.
love the vid
Appreciate it Cj.
dang when he puts the gopro in the water and the point where the hammers eye just pops up right in front of it scared me so bad
The shark think nom nom nom
just awesome!
Glad you liked it.
This shark wants human sushi
Since you're the only dude I know who will stick his hand near a sharks mouth to get a hook... you should've removed that one from that hammer.. lol
I would have but it ran away like a little chicken.
You have stones my friend, stones.
Nah, they are my buddies.
I think he wanted you Steve!
Just lonely and wanted someone to play with him.
That one ☝️ hell of a last run 🏃 . You think it was the hammer 🔨 head.
That was a trophy Cero you caught there.
Tomorrows catch and cook. Real nice.
Great underwater shot! I think he is the dude saying " I want to wear your skin!!!"
...and eat the rest.
He was a hoss! Great footage.
Yea, playful little guy. He liked getting filmed so that was awesome.
good thing it was a nice shark
Most are like that. Just want table scraps.
He just needs a friend! You don't want to be his friend!!
That is pretty spooky, but he wasn't a monster, at least he didn't look like it from my laptop. Gotta let them eat the bait. Hammers are tricky. When they first bite they usually just hold it, but if they feel any tension they let it go
Nah, this one was one inch bigger than all of your Hammers you've seen. LOL.
I think most fish are like that.
Hey dude i want to buy a kayak for this summer but i have a little afraid for the sharks you know if i meet a shark with my kayak i don't know what must to do.!! What you think.
Balls of steel bro lol

It's trash as far as I'm concerned.
SW hasn't ever done that. I'd never use PP ever again.
Are there also big white sharks in the sea where you go fishing ?
They pass by occasionally. They are just cruising through though.
Weird how they’ve evolved into having a hydrofoil face
Steve your a brave man! lol
Once you get your kayak, you will get used to the Sharks. They are everywhere.
Yeah I saw the hook too!
Cool video
Glad you liked it Oskar.
Some people really lack brains!
that's one mad shark lol
He was a bit more excited than most Sharks I see. It was a younger shark so full of energy. It was running around trying to catch little Ballyhoo. It was pretty funny.
Definitely a show-off for the camera!
How many miles way out you just to did?
About five. At the edge before you enter the Gulf.
he wants you bud !!
that shark could have flipped him out of his kayak.
Why would you hook an animal just for the hell of it. Feed me feed me so being a kind humanbeing a
I stuck a hook in its mouth
So now it swims in pain still with a hook till it finally disolves. Kudos a hole.
You try taking the hook out of its mouth. Three years to late
Here Sharky Sharky Here Sharky Sharky
He was saying the same thing. Here Kayaker, here Kayaker.
I wish it would have given you a sleigh ride. those are always fun.
Yea, I think if I could have gotten the kayak turned the braid wouldn't have broken and would have been a long sleigh ride.
Why did you try hook it when it already came into the same distance you would have brought it if you hooked it...
Shit I give u props man
Last none video of the Key West Kayaker. Bloody kayak recovered , no body was found
Nah, officially - "Search called off - body never recovered".
Gotta ask... do you go out during the "winter" months? I'd be cooking all covered up like a nun! hahaha
Lol. Hell no man! It's why I don't get on a kayak to fish lol I'm a scurrdy cat
Wow!! Do you see many of them?
Hammers not so much until Tarpon season then they follow the migration in. That is when you will see packs of them hanging out at the outlets waiting for hooked tarpon to start struggling. Free meal.
The fish is bigger than the kayak!! Time to walk away!
Meanwhile ,10 sother sharks are watching this happen
I am wondering if they can jump out of the water and bite someone?
was it tagged?
