I've used it several times now and the only issue has been that the zip-ties that go through the handle stretch out a little and have to be pulled tight again.. Swapping those two out with nuts/bolts/washers should fix that issue.. Thanks for reply..
excellent ...real good idea....but i want to go a bit further....i already have the 6 feet hedge trimmer from ryobi 40 volt( i paid $160.00 at the home depot) ....now i want to have at least 12 feet total of reach, i have bushes that are 10 to 12 feet tall....having said that ...i know that i should have bought a different brand i think it is green works that sells an 18 volt 9 feet long pole for $140.00...and it can be separated into a single hedge trimmer or a long 6 foot trimmer or even a 10 foot trimmer...from my experience a home owner doesn't need more than 18 volt ...a 40 volt is good but it is more power than one needs ...and on top you have to pay way more for it...
Brilliant idea! This is amazing on 2 levels. 1. The extension of the trimmer. 2. The fact that you don't have to keep squeezing the trigger and get a sore forearm. BTW, What kind of hedge is this that you are trimming? Skip laurel?

I done similar with mine & also added a non-latching button switch under my thumb.
