Had same problem , motor hummed but no water flow . Took motor off and cleaned impeller and that solved the problem , good vid , keep on with the videos
Debris/sand in your impeller. Take the motor off the side and clean impeller and impeller well very good. Not a real problem, just needed maintenance. Excellent video!!!
My FX6 wouldn’t turn on after I cleaned it and plugged it back in. I took of the the impeller housing unit at the bottom, gave it a good rinse and scrub with a tooth brush, put it back on, plugged it back in and it worked! Thank you God!🙏

That’s where my story diverges from yours. It still doesn’t work. This thing is clean as a whistle. I’ve lubed the impeller. The whole thing hums like it’s working, but I get zero flow. Very frustrating.
Good vid, I've had that happen to me on my fx6 and FX4 at the same time it was weird but I also had electrical issues where my power was going off and on that day, I pretty much did the same thing you did and everything has been working fine since. Keep spreading good knowledge!

Be careful how much foams you use in the inner trays one small one at the bottom to stop stuff getting into the impeller and a filter floss at the top is fine fill the rest of the inside with biomedia they can airlock with too much fine foams inside 👍🏻 i clean my impeller about every 6 month with a bead of silicon grease when I reinstall it 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

my fx4 still ain't working. i cleaned it thoroughly. took motor out, cleaned impeller and shaft, put it back on. but it's not priming. im getting some shakes in outlet pipe. but the impeller doesn't seem to be rotating. i inspected there was no physical damage to it. the fx4 is on as i can hear some sounds and in motor little heat is there. can someone please enlighten. do i just need new impeller. it's been 1 year since running and i haven't changed the impeller. does it require a yearly replacement?

Spindle on the magnetic impeller broke, did a replacement now it won’t continuously spin it bounces, and cuts off, and has no power behind it. As soon as I touch the fan it cuts off don’t know what to do.

Lol I see a few dislikes from the fluval stans lol. It's what's inside that counts. I fucks with fluval don't get me wrong, I have about 7 in total, they are good I just think they are overpriced for the build quality, tho I never realised till I bought a eheim. If you want one with baskets, look up the 2080 or newer version 2180, they are now called the 1200xl they are beasts!
Do not unplug it as it will stop working only till it purges air out if u unplug and plug back in it will keep turning off till it purges air just leave it plugged in it will go back on
It's gonna be a sad day when the plug in for the disliked videos stops working. And this is a good example... "Oh I cleaned my filter and it randomly started working" What about the filters that are cleaned and still not working, what's the solution to that? What exactly of the stuff that you did made it "work again"..
3 months ago I bought a fx4 and now it stopped sending water to the aquarium, it reduced the flow to 0 I tried to contact the store and the river but the answer I have is that I need to buy a new one I am very upset and I do not recommend this canister because I lost it too much money with something that doesn't work.
Good vid. Only just found your channel. I've really gone off fluval tbh, they charge way too much for a product way inferior to say an eheim 2260. Although I'd never mess with another used sun sun I'd rather buy a new 704b and spend the difference on bio media like eheim substrat pro or biohome ultimate, now that I have a greater understanding of filtration. Look at fluval bio media, their best, biomax, they charge you the same as the best sintered glass media for their crappy ceramics. If you truly want hassle free filtration buy a eheim. If you don't want to spend that look into sun sun etc, the mid range filters charge high end prices
J Mo Cichlids I bought mine cheap secondhand and it had a bottom grate and top grate, I literally pour loose eheim substrat pro in between the grates, can hold like 15kg or media which is good for a full cycle on a 300gallon tank. No fx6 can do that , three can just about do that. Don't listen to that 1500 litres crap, fx6 is good for like 125 gallons, the fx4 is good for about 300litres, got to remember we keep cichlids who are crapping machines. Look up a guy called PondGuru on RUclips on true filter sizing, he's the guy that had biohome ultimate developed. I swear by eheim (I just can't afford them new lol) but whatever you are doing looks to be working well it's just always good to wring the most out of our filters
My fx4 is making an awful noise had it apart had the guy from the shop I bought it from out to look at it got a new one from fluval about a month ago it ran for a few weeks and now it's doing the same thing making a noise any ideas I've had it apart cleaned everything replaced the inlet and outlet hose still no better
The store I bought it from have emailed fluval and emailed them the videos I have of it too been told to take it back to the store so it can be sent back to them
Just cleaned mine on Monday plugged it in and nothing happened thought it may just pop on whenever but never did tried unplugging and plugging it back in nothing happened so I opened rinsed more sand out of it also took the propeller out which was a bit gunky rinsed that off and rinsed the chamber out put it back together then plugged it in and it’s working fine now lol these things sometimes want to give you headaches for no reason lol
I’ve got an fx6 I just got second hand.. got new impeller and new motor o-ring and it’s leaking like a hose from motor housing. Anyone got any advice? I’ve found plenty of people needing new seals with slot leaks.. but I’m getting a fast flow leak from the motor seal area (after impeller before motor right where impeller/motor seal is. It’s not a drip but a flow! Brand new impeller and seal never used before. Housing on the canister is clean. I even tried using silicone and making a new seal of the front face of the impeller itself and it didn’t help.i bought a factory fluval motor seal and looking at pictures it’s the proper part. Anyone ever ran across this? If been serving google for day while trying to self fix and noting is fixing the issue.
Wow, it sounds like you really got a bad situation I hope you got it fixed but I've never run across a situation like yours and you did everything I would have done even extra with the silicone please let me know what you did to fix it just in case I run into the same situation one day, thanks!
125mopedmad are you looking to upgrade, that tank is pretty small for AC. I wouldn’t put that filter on a tank that small, I would at least go to a 75 or 125
@@jmotanks8960 i got fluval 406 for the tank it does great job of cleaning the tank and keeping it clean but i feel there not enough water flow the for the tank i have an air stone fish look happy what clean i dont think there enough water flow for the fluval
You clearly don’t read and follow instructions. The schedule clearly states how and when to clean the motor as well as apply the silicon sealant. I do like the pink fiber fill.

You did all that great work but didn't check your impeller for dirt or wear from say gravel or sand.
Having the same problem here in Scotland , motor is running but no flow , hopefully once i clean the impeller it will work

You either have air in it or sand in the impeller. That’s all it can be. I agree the Pinky looked pretty plugged also.

I removed the circular filter that came with the filter completely, it started working perfectly after that.
