I’ve lived in the country and in the city. I’ve always cleaned my filters with tap water every time and never had a problem with my fish after. Had multiple tanks since I was 14 and I’m 40 now. Again zero issues with that. Keep 35 percent of the water in your tank while cleaning it and you’re fine
i would just use that service port next to the motor to prime it or put the hose back in and it should siphon some tank water which is perfect for the biomedia
To remove hoses you need to click the red buttons found on the connectors to the body of the filter. To turn the water flow on and off throughout the hoses you just need to twist the valves shut.
These videos on the FX4 are great !! I’m just starting a 75 gallon with the FX4 and I have a lot to learn. Could you do a video to set up the different layers of media you use ?
I've been thinking about going back to a canister filter for my planted 75 gal. However, do you find the hoses to be growing algae in them and then reintroduced to the tank once it's turned off then on? I had this problem with my old canister filter and thus switched to multiple hang on filters. It seemed the hoses were the perfect spot for algae to grow then get blasted back in to my tank after restart.
When I bought the Prime I was also looking at the Safe for that same reason, only issue is that a little goes a very long way. So measurements for a 10 gallon tank can be tricky!
Wells' Amateur Aquariums its kinda hard to over dose with safe like really really hard. I never measure it. And so as many fish store in area. Just guess and dump. Been fine for my 10 gallon and 20 , 125g. If someone really killed fish by putting too much safe powder in then i got no words for them hahah 🤯
Have an FX4 on my 55 which has been on for a month and will be switched to my 75g but just so I heard right when your filling the canister back up you’re using just regular tap water and just adding the prime or seachem correct?
Yes make sure to use dechlorinated tap water, ro water, or tank water to clean and refill your cannister. You dont want to just use tapwater or you can kill off your bebeficial bacteria.
I add those ceramic rings along the sides in all my FX4-5-6 great filtration basically like tips and tricks . Awesome video
This is the most honest and true video I've seen so far. Props brother
Thanks for those video man I’ve had my tank running for 5 days now this is a big help

Hello.
500 liter aquarium, would you choose 407 or fx4?
I wish you'd shown taking the hoses off, putting them back on, and turning the filter on. I feel like that's where it all goes wrong for me

@@wellsamateuraquariums9623😅 well now we know i almost break the thing but glad i checked the comments
Does the fx4 filter out tannins from drift wood?
Are you also running the smaller Fluval canister with the FX4 on your 55?
THIS IS COOL KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK

Yes that would be a very easy one to make!

I have had some issues with material build up in the hosing, but a good cleaning ever few months significantly helps the problem!
Seachem safe better than prime since it covers 10-20x more than the seachem prime. Saves more money in the long run
