You would expect more from Consumer Reports that short sitcom. This is a waste of time.
I loved the classic Sunbeam, fully automatic toaster. I was always amazed how it works.
Technology Connections has a video on it.
Toasters also heat up after ypu do the first two slices, which you have to toast for a bit longer.
When you do the next two slices, you have to turn it down or release it sooner so you don't burn them.
The most fascinating toaster I've seen is the commercial horizontal conveyor belt one that is for high volume toast.
I must be autistic to find that fascinating. 😁
Our side counter where we keep our toaster oven is only 13" deep. It's hard finding a model that fits on it.

rofl. finding the perfect toaster. it's a toaster. just get the cheapest one. that's what I did in 2000 and it still runs fine to this day.
