- There's a lot of opinions floating around about judging, but this is a time of celebration because Chase Motherfucking Hawk has won an X Games gold by doing what he does best: make shit look good. Congrats.

style over tricks anyday
Happy to see Chase won Xgames, but the fact that run consisted of airs and one 360 won, indicates that the park design was really bad. Even Drew did almost no tricks.
I think they finally realized that its about style more than big tricks. Just like you should realize. I'm all for huge flips and spins but riding shouldn't be all about that.
I don´t like flips, triple whips n shit and I prefer street (that is what I ride :)). I know what you mean and that is true, but somehow since I started riding Xgames were masterpiece of riding for me. Morgan Wade, crazy transfers and hard tricks etc.

they finally found some judges that can judge flow, line choice and speed in park, instead of who can do the most spins. Long over due win for chase hawk, congrats!

You can't of been riding long, if you can't appreciate real bmx for you new riders this is what bmx really is not just whips and flips. You can't learn flow you either have it or you don't and to have as much style as chase is something you don't see often, You probably think that Bmx dirt should be won by whips and bars aswell.

Cascadesbmx this was the most boring run ive ever seen.. Pretty sure any young kid watching this would probably decide to buy a skateboard instead. Kids start riding to do tricks not flow. Guarantee this is the last time someone will win with a run like this. Look around i think many people are saying the same thing
John Thomas I'm glad it doesn't appeal to them in a sense, bikes aren't about going out there and impressing people, it's good to get kids into the sport although. Yeah and alot of people including yourself are saying this are quite often hyped up kids jerking off to harry main edits drinking monster energy 5 times a day. Bmx has changed for the bad.

you people are crazy, there should be a balance between flow riding and tricks, and chase hawk only threw down flow riding, while eople like sandoval and dhers threw A GOOD BALANCE OF BOTH, im not saying hawk isnt good, hes amazing, he just wasnt supposed to win

Hell yeah, I love watching that kid ride. He deserves that victory.

People are saying he didn't deserve to win because he didn't do any tricks. You have know idea how hard and sick that run was, didn't even have to pedal once. Now that's how to ride a park/bowl.

BMX is about PROGRESSION hands down, if it wasn't for kyle baldock,logan martin and others doing thousands of tricks that never been done before. less people would watch bmx if it was just flowing a course and doing a 360.
hey he is truly one a kind! you cant teach that style or techique , at the end of the day its not the rider who decides on what medal he gets its the judges and obviously they saw something they liked, i loved that run and it beats the cliche bar spin, to tuck no handers and shit. CHASE HAWK!!!

Can everyone stop getting on the Chase loving band-wagon, seriously, if your discussing flow and "steezeiness", then why didn't drew win? I've been riding for a long time now and i understand how people dont want circus tricks, as it should be about quality of riding. Honestly though, his run was not that incredible, If the x games were judged on quality of riding and flow, Kriss Kyle would have an invite, but realistically the x games are simply a crowd pleaser for the non-involved masses. Therfore the crowd are clearly more entertained seeing flairs ,flips and whips. Not saying this is right but that's just how it is...

Idk I couldnt care less which stiff robot can do a 720 triple barspin then 360 double whip then flair then backflip superman. Theres no style no flow and not smooth at all. Who's to say tricks beat style flow and speed and smoothness?
doesn´t need to do triple bar to quadra whip double flair to triple manual to whip in and out and still pretty awesome

not everyone likes stiff tailwhips, flairs and barspins. chase used the whole park, most of the transfers and sailed. good for him.

Lets face it, if it was really about style where are Mike Aitken, Tom Dugan, Kriss Kyle, Lima ect ect. The only reason he won is because it was in his hometown.
Also bmx is about a mixture of tricks and style, one on its own is not enough and because of that Drew clearly should have won
chase hawk deserved it, dude puts in work, and if you see it in person it is differant. I do agree tho Dugan is steez fo dayzz and i would have liked to see him in there, he lives in Austin also.

So lets resume this : his run was the least difficult of the podium by far (I just watched these 3) AND he did three 36s in the same run with almost no other tricks in between. Plus, Drew had more speed in his run. So what is left ?

Chase rode great and all but he rode like this last year and even did tables but didn't win, the judging was off in my opinion so there's my input.
was this seriously a medal run? or was it combined with another much better run he had?

Chase just flowed so what if style is better than big tricks wheres Kriss Kyle at?? Daniel and Drew had bigger tricks, harder tricks, and flowed really good as well he did a foot plant and just flowing that doesn't Deserve a damn gold medal he shouldn't of won.
impressive, but not worthy of the gold, dugan could have pulled the same run and not even make the finals, i get the whole hometown hero vibe, but at the end of the day the best run should win and that didn't happen

big airs and flow and style are nice. but where were the tricks. like zero tricks. foot jam. a 3. footplant. that was it.
Congrats to chase but drew won all flow and tricks that was dialed chase had good flow but I don't think he should have got gold
so sour about chase winning, did not compare to anyone else riding that bowl
X games is about the best of the best coming and pulling some of the biggest and most stylish tricks that the average rider cant. Not just rolling around a bowl. His flow wasnt that much better than anyone else.
