@JayceCH. This is one time where the official design is better then those fan made. Like wow the characters in the post credit is so good and on point! Everyone of them.
The only problem I have with this movie is how the hell is the fourth film going to top it? The third movie is so damn good that the fourth movie has massive shoes to fill. Also usually the 4th movie in a franchise almost always ends up being either underwhelming, mediocre or just plain bad compared to their predecessors, (Ex: Toy Story 4, Kung Fu Panda 4, Despicable Me 4 etc.) so here’s hoping that won’t be the case with Sonic Movie 4.
The answer is to do something good but different, so the film has a unique flavor. There's a LOT of Sonic lore left io be used. I'd have to go into spoilers for more details.
Listen. With them bringing in two characters from a very important game, I'll tell you this. They have massive shoes to fill. Sonic CD is literally one of the greatest games ever created. Not just in Sonic games. This game was revolutionary. No one was ever doing anything like it at the time. The level design, the story-telling, the bosses. It's not about if they'll top it off the third. It's about how they are gonna pay proper justice to CD. And, to Heroes I guess.
I feel you bro! I'm 39, and I couldn't believe how amazing this film was! I felt bad, because my friend and I were laughing way more than anyone else was in the theater. Lol.
@rouyworld7551 yeah, they probably thought they be fine since Maddie also got switched to the Krysten Ritter character but it was also weird how Tom reacted to her which resulted in him getting punched. That whole sequence was just odd but also hilarious.
Anyone else notice how far they pushed the Ivo/Stone love story as far as a PG rating would allow? It’s pretty much confirmed that Stone is in love with Ivo. And while Ivo is incapable of loving anything, the fact his sacrifices himself to save the Earth _for Stone_ is heartwarming.
Exactly I was worried he would turn into boom knuckles I'm fine with boom knuckles cuz he's not canon(and funny in the show) and so are these movies but with the way they set him up I would be disappointed if knuckles went the boom approach
Never mind Shadow. I thought Gerald was really intriguing. In the games, he was just a recording plotting revenge. He never had the chance to change his heart. In this movie, he's alive and he's been harboring hatred for all of humanity for decades. He wanted to end it all. That's nuts. Especially when he compared his grandson to Maria.
I saw Sonic The Hedgehog 3 last night and it’s one of the best Sonic movies in the trilogy! I won’t spoil the credits but that mid credits had us all excited!
I’m not a huge fan of the franchise, but I am just so damn happy about what this trilogy has gone through. It went from almost becoming a bomb before Sonic was visually corrected (due to fan clamor I might add) to becoming the first truly successful video game movie trilogy. Props!
I'm glad you gave a shout out to Colleen O'Shaughnessey man! She has been Tails since 2014, and she always kills it! I just watched the Angry Joe review, and they had no idea who voiced Tails in the movies. Joe looked it up, and said, "Oh it's someone named Colleen, anyway..." The disrespect was pretty ridiculous.
She became the voice at the worst time for the series so I'm glad she stuck around long enough to really get the meat to Tails's charachter that she deserved. I'm very happy with Tails in this movie he got to really show the best aspects of his charachter. From effortlessly hacking a huge security network like a boss to fearlessly leaping out into space to get Sonic.
Who would have guessed after the first movie that they would make two more than get better and better and make one of if not the best video game movie trilogy.
I played sonic growing up and didn’t watch the first two but heard great things. I finally watched them and damn I’m hyped. I’m taking my younger sister to see it this weekend. I’m so happy that a franchise listened to fans and respects the IP. The fact they did in the first two made me watch them 😊
My favorite reference that I think a lot of people will look over is when the female lead asked sonic to go sonic gold god mode and the hologram does the same animation from sonic 2 game it was introduced in. 😊
Definitely agree with the pacing issue especially with Maria and Shadow, however there’s talks of a Shadow spin off movie or show so I think they’ll add more then
I know this doesn't really matter, but I wanna mention how the movie currently has an 86% Certified Fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes...MUCH higher than the previous two movies, and is technically the most critically acclaimed video game movie ever! So that's pretty interesting how not only are audiences saying this is the best Sonic movie so far, but CRITICS think so too. Have the critics finally seen what us audiences see in this now trilogy and accepted it? Again, doesn't matter, just thought I'd bring it up since that made my eyebrows raise a bit. Who would've thought that Sonic would break the video game critics curse? 😱😱😱
Ehh alot of the reviews are fair but there's still quite a few that make me roll my eyes. The kind of comments you can put the stuck up snort noise next to perfectly. The audience score and cinema score are still the more important ones in my eyes, although even I was shocked this one's not only at 86 but continues to hover in that range.
I loved it! I felt like a kid, I played almost every Sonic game from Adventure onwards. I know like many people, SA2 means a lot to me. I played that game to death lol. All the nods to the games made me grin like a fool :D

Considering what we got in the mid-credits scene, I predict that's exactly what Sonic 4 is going to be. And I think we'll be getting a Shadow spinoff series to hold us over before it too.
I don't condone internet bullying in the slightest, but that was the one rare occurrence when it actually had a substantial effect on the quality of the film. If they wouldn't have changed the Sonic design I think the first film would have bombed, easily.
it's so crazy to imagine we wouldn't have any of the current Sonic goodness (movies AND games) if it wasn't for that 2020 redesign! (& possibly being the only big release during that year lol)
What this movie did well: visuals (Great), Main plot moments (very good), Jim Carry (Great) What the movie did not do well: Character Development, backstory, emotion/connection. Story fluff or smooth transitions in plot. It felt rushed. I felt like the movies plot was rushed and too fast developing. There weren't smooth Transitions from one plot point to the next. Its like movie opens and shadow breaks out, then sonic is already fighting Shadow and then Eggman is back. Like give the movie time to breathe. Where is the emotion and the shock value of all the things that are happening?? Its just not there. They didn't flush Shadow out enough or Professor Gearld. I wanted more than anything in this movie was to feel Shadows pain and loss. Make me understand what Maria met to Gearld. In stead I got cheap laughs and puns shoved down my throat. Most of the main plot moments were great. But I felt like all of the emotion of what the movie should of been was just skipped over. You see some of it at the very end but that's it. I wasn't looking for it to be the same as the games, that would be foolish to ask for but come on. I know it's a kids movie but that damn game with like 10 mins of cut scenes had more emotion then the movie. (opinion)
I get where your coming from. It does go by really fast and maybe a bit too much too quickly. As for the shadow and Maria moments and her accident. The way they did it is.. respectable, does it carry the same weight as in the games? No but they still manage to make you feel what they want you to feel. I wish that they had more scenes together because I enjoyed the little montage they had it was cute and heartwarming but definitely a condensed version compared to the games. Gerald wasn’t my favourite character either, it was an interesting approach to his character for sure. All Jim Carey, definitely not as serious as the games. But at the same time there were funny moments. Shadow and Sonic were the best part of the movie. But I honestly expected more fights between them. My least favourite part was the London stuff, just seemed kinda bland and boring tbh. Best part imo was the 3rd act. Those visuals and the sonic vs shadow fight was epic. The sound design and CGI was well made.
This is just a love letter to fans from all the references to the acting to the better use of the humans. This is quite a step up over two and I’m really excited for what’s next. My movie of the year
It's really amazing how we got here. Once more though I salute that the studio and people making the movie...listened! Even more so today that's something you never hear. In an era of "toxic fans" and insults thrown all over the place, the fans spoke up, and they were heard! And now we have a fourth movie coming and I wouldn't be shocked to see a Shadow spin-off film happen! And this movie was great. They let the weight land for Shadow's story and let him be awesome. Knocked it out of the park!
Now just imagine they never bothered to redesign the Sonic character design! Would things have grown in the same way? And how big would Tails' and Knuckles' teeth have been??

So glad to have seen your video pop up right after seeing the movie myself today! Are you planning to do a spoiler-talk on this a little later down the line? I'd love to hear your takes on some of the major points! ^_^
The most well-adapted video game trilogy, IMO. They aren’t masterpieces, but all three are solid, wholesome fun, and consistently use the source material well. I still need some time to process, but I probably liked this one the most.
Wow. And to think, it all started after the change to Sonic's original design. I'm glad that these movies are doing well, and I hope they continue to do so. Ngl though...I may or may not have a tiny crush on Shadow lol.
- There was no Rouge in spite of G.U.N's heavy involvement. - Shadow’s backstory was a bit clumsy, softened. - The morals of the story were a bit heavy handed. - Power Levels were inconsistent, and the shift of power near the end of the final fight messed with the theme of 'vengeance is not the way to win'. But in spite of ALL THAT, I really, really liked the film. All the actors did a great job, and I hope the film does really well. It may not outsell Mufasa, but Sonic 3 is certainly the better movie.
It’s a fun time a lot like a roller coaster ride. I cried I’ll admit it, the way they tell shadows backstory works for the movie series even if they’re doing their own thing. It’s not at all SA2 the movie but it was fun. It does go by very fast, from one thing to the next but there’s enough wow moments or cool things that keep you engaged. I smiled at all the Easter eggs they sprinkled in. The sound design and CGI is really good in this one. They poured their hearts into this one. Go see it! Worth seeing in theatres 💯 this is a film you can enjoy with loved ones for sure. Keanu Reeves as shadow is near perfect, none of his lines sound off or anything he fits shadow so well. Definitely a must see film
My only gripe with the movie is that oversaturation of Jim Carry shenanigans. It feels like a tonal tug-o-war is constantly happening within the movie, with the more serious Sonic & Shadow plot VS the goofy Roboitniks plot. I wish they had gone full serious with a few jokes here and there for this movie specifically. Kinda felt whiplashy, how the movie wants to portray the Robitniks as actual threats just to have them constantly poking fun at both characters. Deadpool does a great job at balancing both spectrums of the tone. Sonic just didn't do it for me in that regard. I would have traded the overabundance of humor for more backstory and exposition. Otherwise, solid film!
I just came back from it. I'm just full of elation and euphoria from this piece of cinema! I want to see it again, after Nosferatu (and maybe the Bob Dylan biopic).

But in spite of ALL THAT, I really, really liked the film. All the actors did a great job, and I hope the film does really well. It may not outsell Mufasa, but Sonic 3 is certainly the better movie.
Does Live And Learn play at some point in this movie?

Hey Andre did you go to the premiere? Would love to see some vlog type content for this stuff. Also I miss your Black Friday hauls videos!
What early cameo is he referring to? I've seen the movie but I feel like I already forgot it.
I seem to regularly come back to your channel in June and December. 🤔
Were any announcements made?
BIGGEST BLOCKBUSTERS EVER FOR A VIDEO GAME MOVIE EVER…..🔥🔥🔥💯💯💯
Andre is the ultimate Sonic the hedgehog fan
So excited to see this
It’s a fun time a lot like a roller coaster ride.
That freaking mid credits scene!!!!!!!
Where did you get that sonic shirt Andre? I want it. I have a one sonic shirt. But I want more
I just came back from it. I'm just full of elation and euphoria from this piece of cinema! I want to see it again, after Nosferatu (and maybe the Bob Dylan biopic).
3:51 💯💯💯😅😅😅 I felt it in that scene
Imagine if we’d even get a Sonic 3 if the studio didn’t listen to the fan backlash to Sonic’s original design. Kudos to them for that.
Epic, fun, entertaining trilogy. The Sonic films are awesome.
TERRANCE OUT
Time to replay Sonic Adventure 2
