      Currently without a garage until I sort something out, but might get to do the gearbox and FD one day 🙂 There’s a video I’ve done on an R1150GS which is quite similar if that helps 🙂

    Hello, I am new to the channel but I quite like it. I do have one question though. What happens to the driveshaft boots? Did the owner not want new ones? Is it OK to rise arround with damaged ones? Or did you change them off camera? Thank you. Keep the good work up. 👌

    • @garage_tales
      @garage_tales  4 месяца назад +1

      Hi there. I did point them out to the owner and explained what’s involved, but he chose not to do them at that stage. Which if absolutely fine, his bike, his choice 🙂
      If they start allowing water in, it could cause some damage, but it will take some time to be fair.

      @@garage_tales How hard is it to change them. Currently I ride a 600 hornet 04’ but I quite like this r1200r.. so I am looking into them.. Thanks for the quick answer 😉

    • @garage_tales
      @garage_tales  4 месяца назад +1

      @@norbertkovac6793 Not that hard. The 1200 is a bit easier than the older models where you needed special tools and accurately set bearing preloads. I’m mot sure what your skill level is, but with patience & attention it should be fine.

    Is the union flag upside down, on the garage door?

      Hey there. Thanks for your comment and glad you found it useful.
      Regarding the flag, it might be upside down. I did put it the right way up at one point before I had to empty the garage.

    Perfectly executed service, I am just about to purchase a 2012 model with 28000 miles on the clock, has been regularly serviced, any pointers for me when I go to check it out and test ride? Cheers

    • @garage_tales
      @garage_tales  Год назад +1

      Hey there. Thank you for your comment and apologies for the late reply.
      Make sure it was properly serviced and not just an engine oil change every now and again. It’s surprising how many people think that’s all there is to it and claim it’s been fully serviced.
      Apart from that, they are pretty good bikes. Not much to complain about. Look for funny noises from the clutch, make sure it rides well and has no issues with the suspension and hopefully it should be all good 🙂

    Great video! I have just one quetstion. Whenever I watch similar videos, the replacement of the fuel filter is often overlooked. Does this mean that it is no longer necessary to check the condition of this filter regularly? Thanks.

    • @garage_tales
      @garage_tales  6 месяцев назад

      Hey there. Thanks for your comment and I’m glad the video was helpful. You’re right, the fuel filter does get overloaded most of the times, for various reasons. BMW recommend a 24000 miles fuel filter replacement interval.
      Hope that helps 🙂

    Udržba se na této motorce dělá jednoduše. Spíš mě zarazilo jak jsou orezavělě šrouby. To myjete motorku slanou vodou, nebo bydlíte na pláži? 😅

    • @garage_tales
      @garage_tales  8 месяцев назад

      Cheeky 😂 It’s not my bike, it was stored for a pretty long time so maybe that’s why. If you look at the r1150gs videos that’s a lot worse. It gets ridden daily all year round. We get a lot of salt spread on the roads here in winter.

      Filters vary. From memory 8mm for the drain plug and 76mm oil filter with 12 notches.

    And how much would that have cost down at bmw Motorrad?

    • @garage_tales
      @garage_tales  Год назад +1

      Couldn’t say for sure. It’s possible they would charge 1 hour labour (just over £100) plus the oil & filter. If you’ve bought the bike from them, they might give a discount or not charge a full hour if they didn’t spend it on the bike.
