Thanks, I appreciate you checking out the content! As soon as I can manage everything I have on my plate now, I’ll start a podcast. I realize a lot of this content would be perfect for that platform.
Amazing interview. I was particularly struck with the discussion on diversity at the ITF. Abbie Conant is a Facebook friend of mine and she speaks fervently about this! She has fought the battle for diversity, especially female diversity for decades. I heard Dr. McCain speak about his time at USM, where my youngest daughter studied for her doctorate, and how he participated in activities outside of the music building. This was evidenced by his Alpha Phi Alpha jacket, the oldest African-American fraternity of them all and which I also pledged as an undergraduate. There was a slight Louisiana connection as well. Dr. Brickens is a native of Baton Rouge and attended McKinley High School, a predominately black high school in Baton Rouge and that my wife and her family attended. He is also a graduate of Southern University in Baton Rouge, a predominately African-American university. My late father received his undergraduate in music from Southern. I received my law degree from there and both of my daughters received two degrees from there. Keep the interviews coming!!! You’re doing a great job!
Great job on the interview. Would love to have this on Spotify/apple podcast/ so I could listen in the car
