Exactly what I thought
It's actually smart if you think about it: bad weather/playing conditions generally favor the less skilled team. Even now there aren't very many clubs United would be less skilled than, so its to our advantage. Also a roof has another very underrated benefit: It keeps noise in and creates an incredible atmosphere.
Honestly, it's a good move. Lots of stadiums in the US have retractable roofs so sports like baseball can still play while it's raining. No more bad pitch conditions is nice, and it keeps more wind out in the winter for fans.

I hope to hell that Chelsea doesn’t go through with that. We need to just tear down everything except the Shed and rebuild from there. Unfortunately in Fulham it’s really hard to find real estate that can be built on but they have to do something. 45,000 seats for a team of our stature is crowded

Looking at St James's Park if that stand gets extended it will look the same as Celtic Park
James Hope they won’t be given planning permission by the city council anyways because the new stand will go through one of the most important roads in the city. The road their building over leads to a children’s hospital so they will never be allowed to do it.

Hood it might have been how the original comment was worded. Not so much that the railway line prevents building but any local H&S regs. But I’m wondering why whoever currently owns the line or runs the railway there prevents building over it. I’m hoping you have an answer. Every article ive read suggests they could build over it, it’s just the Glazers and their funding that prevents it

It hasn't been rejected at all. The planning is still at public consultation stage.
