To be fair to the miami crew, it was a bunch of high schoolers that they had randomly hired and given no training. they had no idea what they were doing.

Yeah, especially since like the commentators were saying, it’s Florida, you’re gonna get rain ALL the time. Really surprising that the team wasn’t better prepared and doesn’t seem to have trained them much

Yeah it also reminds me the mlb used to have an automatic tarp roller back in the day which they got rid of since a player got his leg crushed by it when it starting rolling out for no reason

There is nothing more satisfying as seeing the huge buff grown men curl up over a thunder clap. The next time someone teases me for doing it, I'm pulling out this clip.

The tarp is parachute day in elementary school PE gone horribly wrong.
I was at that game! It was a reds game and my mom said "HE JUST GOT EATEN BY THE TARP" I started dying!😂

I'll always remember going to a rangers game in 2015 when Josh hamilton had just gotten back. It rained heavily and Josh was having a blast sliding all over the tarp. Hilarious

That first one was not a rain delay moment, actually a rain out moment since the game had already been called by that point
That opening clip just looks so fun, especially that slide at the end
And my parents said those parachute games in elementary school would never help me in real life.

I remember when my sons were playing little league and there was thunder but “no lightning” according to the coach I had to show them that it was impossible to have thunder with no lightning and they finally got a delay. I couldn’t imagine the thunder and lightning where every man was nearly jumping into the lap of the man next to them.
one time i was with my dad and out of no where it started thundering and there was a lighting strike like 50 feet away from us i have never jumped so high and ive never seen my dad so pale
Lightebing delays typically have an expectation of minimal distance though. So the ref may have been right

They should show when the royals were beating the cardinals in St. Louis. The grounds crew sucked and the royals players went out and got it done so they could play the game.
I remember one time growing up as a kid my dad use to play softball and they had a game one time and it's had looked like it was going to rain the whole game and it's was the last inning and the winning run was on 3rd well as soon as they crossed home plate the rain clouds open up
I race dirtbikes aswell as play baseball, so as I have raced in the pouring rain and mud I always was fine when it rained playing baseball I was used to it 😂
that tarp stuck in right field was the beginning of the end for Sports Authority

Before I started watching I knew the one when Robin Ventura was acting like Mike Piazza sliding on the wet tarp was first, that looked fun.
Ive pulled a fair few tarps off of ballfields in my life and it's no joke trying to control them
The announcers describing the action of the marlins tarp unfolding were the Mets announcers, legends, Tim McCarver and Ralph Kiner.
Try pulling a tarp over a trailer of just-harvested rice, all ready at least 10 feet up, the wind catches the tarp and deposits you on the ground. I know what dealing with a tarp in the wind is like!!! 😵

This is the kind of Play-by-Play I lived for in my time. We had a man catch a softball in one hand with a baby in the other hand. That was pretty close.

@@penguin44ca Memory serves, that was right as the Miami franchise was starting up. I think that the management was so cheap that they hired kids right out of high school to be the grounds crew. That was the first time all year that there was rain on the field and the recent high school graduates had no experience actually rolling out the tarp.
