Hey pro tip - put a pic of the bottle up when you’re talking about. There were just a couple times I forgot what bottle you were talking about. Great vid!
Just picked up my bottle of Ported Pumpernickel Rye at Middle West. It is an absolutely wonderful bottle, and the people there where also very awsome. Highly recommend.
Most of those can't be found in mid michigan, being retired I'm out there 3-4 times a week too. I think alot of bottles are saved for friends of the owners/managers or being sold online by them for crazy prices, once in awhile you get lucky 😉 Cheers 🥃 👍 Great List !
Hey would recommend "barrell craft spirits" and what offering specifically if so I see you have some up there in the background! Haven't had anything from them yet. But I do like everything so far that I've had EXCEPT wheated bourbons, ive had a few and don't think I like wheat in my whiskey. Been thinking about picking up I believe it's the 036 from barrell that cask strength I believe.
That’s awesome. I enjoy a lot of Barrel Products. Their bourbon blends are great as well as products such as Dovetail and Seagrass. Curious to hear which other ones you end up trying! Cheers! 🥃
@tythebourbonguy sorry, I mentioned to ask your recommendations for me. Given what I've kind of mentioned. Haha Thanks I will try the dovetail and seagrass! Crazy how one word left out can change the whole question/statement. I really do appreciate all your recommendations and videos along with this one! Since I'm fairly new to bourbons and ryes, and just started intentionally trying them basically the start of the year here in 2024.
The 8 year WT 101 is the same stuff they sell in Japan for $20. I've had both and the US version is not better. I remember the old Austin Nichols 8 year WT101 being better. That makes sense because older whiskey always ended up in the blend or it may be the 30 years that have passed since grad school.
Here's why I bought it. I've been drinking WT since the mid 70's & Jimmy Russel has been the master distiller for every drop that's crossed my lips. So I'm all in on a reasonably priced LE to honor a true bourbon legend. Plus it's a damn good whiskey!
I got a Jack 10 for MSRP in a bottle bundle with a SBBP rye and a SBBP bourbon, both store picks. They don't just sit on the shelf unless they are heavily marked up.
Wild Turkey 101 tastes too much like rye to me, and their Rare Breed is outside my budget. If I only had 1 for all year that is very affordable, it is 100 proof Old Grand-Dad. No hunting like Early Times and Coopers' Craft I also like, and only $21. I also like the 90 proof Bernheim Original Wheat Whiskey, when I want to spend $31 and more for the summer with no Kentucky Hug.
😂 I wouldn’t mind $40 but again, environment can play into it. I tried it at Old Forester along with the Master Taster. Cheers and thanks for watching! 🥃
Whiskey people are sheep, you could put dirt and water in a bottle and get someone to claim it whiskey of they year and people would still go crazy for it
Can you say that a brand is overhyped when the hype has been sustained for 8 10 or 15 years of excellence. Buffalo Trace products are great. If it wasn’t people would buy it once and Never again. Everyone goes back again and again for a reason.
I don’t think the brand is overhyped, just certain products. I mention that if the whiskey wasn’t good, they wouldn’t have sustained their success, especially for this long. Cheers 🥃
Which whiskeys have been your favorite so far this year?
@@tythebourbonguy
Sagamore rye double oak
Peerless DO
JD Rye 134 proof
Buffalo Trace single barrel 29$.
JT Melek single barrel
Heaven Hill Bottled in bond, Old Fo 1920, Wild Turkey 101 and a newly acquired Ben Holladay soft red wheat Rickhouse Proof
@@JoesphShanklinBen Holladay! Cheers 🥃
Heaven Hill BiB is always on the shelves where I live, but usually around $45-$50. One of my favorites!
It’s a great bottle for sure! 🥃

Thanks for watching! Cheers 🥃
Just got a bottle of the Wild Turkey 70th, and it is that good! This is one of those bottles that you need to have more than one around.
Guess I’ll keep hunting that one. Thanks for watching! 🥃

I need to try more of their products! Cheers! 🥃

A lot of these are really tough to find for sure! I wish I could go hunt 3-4 times a week 😂 Cheers my friend! 🥃
Hello, I just subscribed to your channel. You did a great job on these reviews! I can't wait to enjoy more of your content.
I appreciate you checking out the channel! 🥃
I like larceny barrel proof but I am new to this bourbon thing
Glad you found something you enjoy. Cheers and thanks for watching! 🥃

I think you might enjoy those. Barrel Vantage is another good one from them. Hope that helps! 🥃
Buffalo Trace is hard to find in the Northeast. It is what started me, but not what keeps me going. Sipping a Rare Breed pour while watching this.
Not a bad night! Cheers and thanks for watching! 🥃
Knob is killing it
A lot of releases recently!
Where are you still seeing Dicovery 11? I’d love to pick one up. I’m in the Ft Wayne area. You said Indiana, so that’s why I’m asking. 👍
I saw some 10 & 11 in the Indy area. 11 might be harder to find but still more options available than I would have thought. Appreciate you watching! 🥃
The production for Disco 12 was very small. It was something like 2000 cases.
Glad I didn’t hesitate buying this one! 🥃

Good point. Cheers and thanks for watching! 🥃
Distributor said there was only 350 bottles of disco 12 in Michigan.
I believe it. Indiana’s numbers were very low as well. 🥃
Old Forester 1910 all day long
That is a great one! Cheers 🥃
As a massive wild turkey fan… why buy a wild turkey 101 8 year for 60 bucks when you can get a Russell’s single barrel for 68 bucks
100% agree with that. How about a RARE breed for 50 bucks?
Yeah, it's the $20 Japanese 8 year WT 101 with a $35 mark up.
I had a Russell’s single barrel pick that was absolutely fantastic. Cheers and thanks for watching. 🥃

jack 10 and 12 cant afford here in ny
Most of these are really hard to find and if you can find them, the pricing is insane. Thanks for watching! 🥃
Never even seen Jack 10 or 12
I’ve only seen it online. It’s been a tough one to find.
I got a Jack 10 for MSRP in a bottle bundle with a SBBP rye and a SBBP bourbon, both store picks. They don't just sit on the shelf unless they are heavily marked up.
I found a 10 year the other day for about $400. Crazy numbers.

As I was reading, I was actually thinking you might enjoy Cooper’s Craft. Cheers! 🥃
I wouldn’t give $40 for OF 1924👎🏼
😂 I wouldn’t mind $40 but again, environment can play into it. I tried it at Old Forester along with the Master Taster. Cheers and thanks for watching! 🥃
Whiskey people are sheep, you could put dirt and water in a bottle and get someone to claim it whiskey of they year and people would still go crazy for it
Interesting take. That would probably be true for most things in life though. 🥃

Wow this list was boring to watch.
