- In this video I try to beat Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate the Honorable way in Samurai fashion. Here are the Rules for this Challenge:
1. Must fight Monsters 1 on 1 (This means No Palicoes Or other players) (If a monster has a group with them for an “unfair” advantage, you must deal with it)
2. Cannot use monsters elemental weakness or or inflict any status ailments
3. Cannot attack a monster when it's down or when it’s not in a battle stance (this only applies when a monster is struggling to get up, running away to another area, or standing still exhausted) You can still attack an exhausted monster but the moment it stops to breathe you can’t attack
4. Cannot Mount Monsters
5. Cannot use Barrel Bombs
6. Cannot use use traps until a monster is ready to capture (Can Slay or Capture)
7. No buff items that increase attack and defense
8.If a monster is down and attack combos can’t be stopped until after the animation is finished, that’s fine as long as you don’t keep attacking afterwards
9. If a monster is sleeping you can throw a paintball ('cause it doesn’t deal damage) it as a way of saying “Hey we need to continue our match”

Fun fact: samurai were also know for using bows and arrows on horse back, back in ancient times... Only reason why everyone only remembers them using sword is cuz haha sharp ting go swoosh swoosh😅
Funny fact: for samurai basically anything is honourable when he is protecting his master
beheading small child is honable the child kicked up some dirt near the master
@@zhikos_6441 😃😃😃
Omg so funny me laugh
@@othila9902 I hope it is a sarcasm
so funny ha ha ha ha
that one got me good

Reaver : “In my mind a samurai wouldn’t use big guns to take down an opponent”
The samurai the moment they got firearms: *bang bang*
2:28 New rule: If a monster is not fighting fair, you can do the same thing to it back without Consequence. Hope this helps your epic challenge, friend.
Thanks for the idea but I still like being able to win with a disadvantage.
So basically Bazelgueze?
@@thedailybrowser5951 Hyper Silverlos and/or Dreadking and Kushala Daora would be better picks assuming they like to spend years in the air (with the last one having wind barrier).
ReaverJolt: approaching Shagaru Magala with honourable might.
Shagaru Magala: Finally. Worthy opponent. Our battle will be legendary!!
If you wanted to limit yourself to exclusively samurai weapons, the bow would have also qualified. Insect glaive maaaaaybe but it's more of a stretch. This is because samurai on the battlefield were more spearmen and archers, with the katana mostly used as a last resort weapon. I could also see you doing a similar themed video around knights and the code of chivalry using SnS and lance.
The WHAT GLAIVE
On top of that, Samurai were actually quite fond of gunpowder-based firearms during the infancy of guns, so the bowguns are on the table as well.
Now time to play Monster Hunter the Disonorable Way
*proceeds to use Pierce Valor HBG against Lao Shan Lung*
i beat monster hunter gen in a honorable way as as well. i made all the low tier village armor and all the quests for those certain villages, i did in the armor for exmble..i fought astalos in kokoto armor, i fought gammoth in pokke armor, i fought mizutune in yukumo armor, and i fought glavenus in bherna armor. it was diffucult in low tier
I remember TheTree'sApprentice speaking highly of Shagaru Magala, saying that even in it's opening cutscene, the fight with it in particular wasn't like that of a hunter finding thier bounty and moving to the collect it through pursuing and.....well... hunting. It didn't feel like that to him, to him, it was like 2 rivals staring each other down one last time as if they both know that this would be their last duel, their final dance of battle. This challenge as well as the rules that come with it really emphasize this particular fight, not of monster and hunter, but as Warrior to warrior......
God I love these games
Can I get a link to that video?
3:15
You'd be surprised. Samurai *loved* guns (because why wouldn't they?)
Japan was kind of a hotbed for early firearms actually
^ Nobunaga Oda was a key factor about it
Don't get me wrong, I like playing Monster Hunter and I think the challenge that was set up was very interesting, but I'm confused when you mentioned that some of the monster faught unfairly since the video started out with the question "have you ever wondered how the monsters felt when you fight it?", while at the same time all the monsters are just baisically trying to survive a fight using whatever skills they normally and naturally use as a way of protection, especially when "honor" is a human concept of restriction.
Not to mention, wouldn't an honorable battle also mean to go in with the health both opponents start with and dont replenish health or energy unless the hunter uses one replenishing object only while the monster is caught eating as well?
Man I remember when you started this challenge. Nice to see it finished
Shagaru looks real cool in the thumbnail.
BRuHhh i didn't see this in my feed, awesome vid!!! The idea of this one is pretty cool an unique
Ooooo that Gravios trip into tail cut was AWESOME
That is one cute dog. Hi, Mikey
3:11 There have been recordings of samurai using firearms and even the most badass of clans (the Sanada) weren't ashamed to use artillery and the trope of samurai honor is halfbaked due to their only honor being to protect and serve their respective lord and fulfilling his mission.
i rlly enjoyed this video so good work
I LOVE THIS IDEA!
The idea to _fight_ monsters in an honourable way is imho more interesting than a Hame speedrun.
Because yes, there are _monster hunters_ and _monster fighers_
EDIT: With this you've gained a new subscriber!
Funny story that specific tigrex at 6:50 is the closest I became to hating a monster because of my stubbornness to not get rid of my velocidrome armor that I liked while using a tetsucabra switch axe. I fainted about 7-9 times with the 7th time almost ending in a broken 3DS
“A samurai wouldn’t use big guns!”
*Samurai using artillery and muskets:* “lol gun go pew pew
Good challenge
Though compromising to lore
For obvious reasons
Edit: and freedom unite's opening cutscene shows that captured monsters are actually just carted off
Killed, and filleted for the choice parts used in armor and weapons
The hunter getting their cut from the village it's carted off to
In other words completely dishonorable
I would love to see this in mhgu
By far the best challenge yet
Rip old videos.
Aka, brute force the game with your weapon and dont take adventage of openings... Samurai were not honorable this way, they would use cannon, bombs, arrows, venom, and whatever else to serve their masters, they would keep a reputation of honest, proud, and "honorable" to honor their master, otherwise, they would fight using whatever they can when they need to
It was a cool Challenge i have to say
This will be interesting
Honor?! Boi this is war, all is fair. Also with the raptor bird wyverns, if they bring in an army, it is no longer about honor, it is about survival now.
well come on ma dudes get the video to 1000 like i wanna see him fight monoblos and seregios like this
Have I ever thought about how a monster feels when I fight it? Well with Kushala it really doesn't matter
that puppy is so cute
Basically playing monster Hunter without reading any of the text at the beginning
"a samurai doesn't use big guns"
samurais in the meiji era have left the chat
I love it but Quick I want a part 2 so bad
contrary to popular belief, samurai used black powder weapons such as early guns
so artillery was ok to use
6:54 I like that reference.
this is unfathommably based
The part where you clear your throat made me spit my food out laughing XD
But dont worry nothing is spoiled
Except for rise sunbreak
Oooh! I'm interested
i feel like rise would've been more fittig but i understand why you didnt since you still have the other challenge in the making with rise
I actually did this in 4u largely because of Shagaru.
@@ReaverJolt ah i see fair enough
I wonder if is possible to do some variations of this run on different titles like No broken Styles and/or Hunter Arts on GU or no Mantles on Iceborne
Who needs honor when you have a big block of metal in a stick?
Gonna do this when Sunbreak comes out. It’s an arbitrary challenge but it’ll at least make it challenging
Man is using the most dishonorable weapon… nice
I mean, I understand why, but it is pretty funny
As a Longsword main I take offence to that AND find it hilariously funny at the same time
cant be as hard as you say, im gonna try this
Personally, rule #2 is still the most mind-boggling rule for me and maybe haunting me for the rest of my life. LOL
Are you gonna do the opposite of this like Monster Hunter the DIShonorible way
like only hitting via sucker punches or attacking the monster from behind
You know... In spite of what ghost of Tsushima may make you believe, the Samurai code of honor had little to do with fighting fairly or honourably. Being a dirty fighter wouldn't have been considered dishonourable, however being a coward, failure or traitor would be.
Of course, the ideals of honour changed over time, but typically a Samurai owed honour to his lord, himself and his comrades in battle (in that exact order), but not to his foe. The important thing was to complete a given order by any means neccessary and at any cost, including one's own life.
When I play long sword I always think what if we had Sepiroth’s long sword
You know, if you turn off your map it will only be visible while pressing L
I always turn it off to increase visibility, and i just press when i need to look at it
Although not to the same extent, I do have my code of honor when playing mh
If I ever cart once during a quest a abandon the mission
If the monster has only one chance to beat me why should I have more then 1
(Exept when hunting online, cause abandoning a quest when playing online is annoying)
Did you draw that thumbnail reaver or did you pay someone because it really looks good
I had a friend make the art for me. I made the thumbnail.
You expected rise but it was me 4 ultimate. Considering the fact that rise is more japan and samurai themed you would expect it but no.
That's a very interesting way to fight monsters in 4.
I actually did think about this when I got stunned by diablos and how annoying it is when It gets knocked down
lol tetsucabra was my first wall too.
For the question at the beginning of the video; I don’t think about the monster when I’m fight it, because they are just a bunch of 0’s and 1’s.
"Binary Code Hunter"
There is no such thing as honor because it gets you carted
Be honest, the real reason you're using LS is because you're one of them.
I only use traps and bombs with monsters that I consider not worth it. but when I'm fighting a monster that I like I enjoy the fight.
note: I don't wait for the monsters to get up, that's way too much for me.
I mean, why not fight monsters that elicit an honorable way of fighting like Narga, Barioth, Zinogre, and Rajang? I would include Tigrex but that's just personal preference.
It's not exactly "honorable" if you're just handicapping yourself. The virtue itself requires both sides to acknowledge it and I don't think monsters like Gypceros would be able to follow that moral with gimmicky moves.
0:40
*incorrect
Nodachi were crafted instead to be used as offerings towards the Shinto gods or "kami" dedicated shrines.
Dual blades would be more accurate
*I ' V E B E E N W A I T I N G F O R T H I S*
Samurais actually upgraded to guns at one point lol also Honor only applys to none Bandit like warriors. Other samurai is what it applys too 😆
2:00 lol i practice my main weapon that way
He talks of homor all he can just because plesioth isn't in 4u
Do it as a ninja 😏
He could use,DB,LS and BOW
999th like
That how I do it
No
Challenges not as fun as the earlier ones… 🥲 and with older videos being removed I’ll just unsubscribe for now.
good video but wayyyy too much cringe
