      Also Jaime is at high risk of being killed by any random bannerman. If Jaime dies, Sansa (and in Cat's eyes, Arya) dies. Certainly a desperate and negligent move, but understandable when your primary goal is to save your kids.

    Jaime was probably going to die that night by the Carstarks so she released him in the hope he would "pay his debt" and help her girls.

    Keep in mind that Daenerys is supposed to be a teenager and Jorah is supposed to be in his 50s or 60s. That explains why he looks at her like a kid sometimes (as you noted) but it definitely doesn't explain why he looks at her like he's in love the rest of the time.

      Jon Snow is Ned's bastard. At least that was my understanding when I finished episode 1, and it's certainly their understanding after finishing a whole season.
      With that said, I do think what they meant was that Robb isn't playing the game of thrones correctly and is making poor decisions in the heat of the moment.

    No one else seems to note just how bad Catlyn is. She's so dumb and so destructive to everyone around her. No wonder John Snow never new about his mother.

  • @mclizzard2928
    @mclizzard2928 22 дня назад +10

    Wow. Just zero consideration for Cat's *actual* thought process here. Saying she's dumb and acting on impulse and emotion is just loud AND wrong.
    The Karstarks were going to kill Jamie that night. Jamie is their biggest asset, by miles. The only thing worse for their position than an escaped Jamie is a dead Jamie. It means Robb can't control is own army and, for all his talk of discord in the camp, if the Karstarks kill Jamie, the rest of the troops will turn on them immediately, leading to all-out mutiny. Instead, knowing that Lannisters pay their debts (it had nothing to do with Baelish's promise), she sends Jamie with Brienne to King's Landing. Was it ideal? No. Was it the best choice given the circumstances? Yes.
    And also, telling her to talk to people who know? Cat knows the politics of the Seven Kingdoms better than any of the Northmen do. She's been living in the heart of the Seven Kingdoms her whole life before her marriage, and the North consistently isolates itself from the rest. Catlyn is actuallt a primay diplomatic asset for Robb. He uses her as such in the first season and then completely ignores her advice, which results in the fall of Winterfell, and somehow *she's* stupd, and *she* doesn't know about how this world works? Nah.

    • @Onlytalents001
      @Onlytalents001 21 день назад +3

      Perfectly said. She secured the bridge and Frey men who eventually helped Robb to capture Jamie and also she made a deal with Renly to join them before he got killed by that shadow demon. Cat had the best advice for Robb, always!

    • @Jose-Lozanchez

      What ur describing is post-show clarity. Don't lie, when you were watching for the first time you were rocking with Robb. Most everybody rooted for Robb. The King in the North arrests his trifling mother.
      Also, everything did start when Catelyn kidnapped Tyrion

    • @Onlytalents001
      @Onlytalents001 21 день назад +2

      @@maelguiraud3568 Cat had the best advice always. She knew Ned should not go to kingslanding, she knew not to leave Bran’s room when he was in danger, she found the hair piece and knew the Lannisters are involved in her son’s fall, she convinced Renly to join Robb, she kept telling Robb not to forget about the Frey girl and keep his promise… and saved Jamie from death, which also saves Sansa. We know how Joffrey has been treating her whenever he found out Robb won a battle. Saying she is useless it’s an outrageous lie.
      I don’t know how can you watch the show and not see her good advice just cause she let Jamie go.

    • @zariyastewart5886
      @zariyastewart5886 22 дня назад +5

      That was actually not a bad move. With them in the capitol, the Lannisters had three potential hostage and she knew Ned was investigating them so they were very much in danger. By taking Tyrion she gained at least a little bit of leverage for her own side. When Ned was in the dungeons he even says that he isn’t worried abt Cersei killing him bc Catelyn holds one of her brothers.
      She made a mistake in allowing him a trial and releasing him rather than keeping him as a hostage/leverage. But releasing Jamie is a total blunder yeah.

You're kind of holding him to his honor while blaming him for being like the guy who was too honorable, no..? And if it's a problem that honor can get you k!lled shouldn't it also be a problem that honor can ruin your future.? Or is honor not the problem....?
