✨Short Story ✨
モンタはモモコ（現在、上野動物園）と共に1987年に来日。その当時、オスメスのペアであればその後、一緒に住みペアリングが可能と考えられていた。そして二人は1990年に千葉動物園に来園。しかし幼少の頃から一緒にいた二人は、お互いを姉・弟の関係として認識していた為か、ペアリングは上手くいかなかった。1997年、モモコはブリーディングローンのため、上野に向かう。
2008年ローラが千葉市動物公園に来園。2009年モンタとローラのペアリングを行ったが、ローラはゴリラが苦手（母親が育児放棄をし人間による人口飼育で育つ、モンタ以外にもオスのゴリラと同居したが上手くいかず）なため、上手くいかなかった。現在はローラ、モンタ共に単独飼育。千葉動物公園の更なる環境エンリッチメント及びモンタへのパートナー探しをお願いしたい。
Monta came to Japan in 1987 with Momoko (Ueno Zoo now). At that time, it was thought that male-female pairs of gorillas could live together easily and then pair up. In 1990, they visited Chiba Zoo. However, the pairing did not go well because the two had been together since childhood and may recognize each other as an older sister and younger brother. In 1997, Momoko went to Ueno for a breeding loan.
Rola came to Chiba Zoological Park in 2008. In 2009, Monta and Rola were paired (short time trial). However, it didn't go well because she wasn't good at gorillas (her mother didn't do childcare, so she grew up in population breeding by humans. Shel also had the experience of living with other male gorillas, but it did not work well). Currently, both Rola and Monta are single breeders. I want to ask for further environmental enrichment of Chiba Zoological Park and to find a partner for Monta.

She often looks for worms in the garden
She whistle and learned how to do it from the chimpanzee in the next room
Favorite: Tomato

Hi Rie, I have missed your videos, I will also miss Monta in his pool.He looks good & Rola looks like she has lost weight. The keeper's know about her dry skin & I hope they do something about it. Momoko is looking well & things are quiet for now.

Rola didn't touch her hands and feet much yesterday. As you say, the keeper was aware of her dry skin condition. I hope she is being cared for in some way. It’s so cute how Monta puts all the hay cubes in his mouth while collecting them. Then spits them out into his hand to enjoy eating them one at a time.
He uses his mouth as a garage, takes out the hay cube, and then enjoys to eat snacks☺️Thank you for watching!
