- Recorded 25 August, 1995 at VW Gelande in Wolfsburg, Germany while Big Country were supporting The Rolling Stones on the Voodoo Lounge Tour.
The sound is taken straight from the mixing desk and features no ambient microphones to pick up crowd noise, hence the relative silence in between songs.
It's a blistering set culminating with a red hot performance of Neil Young's 'Hey Hey, My My.'
Mick Jagger once said of Big Country, "One of the best opening acts we've ever had."
I hope you enjoy seeing this performance now in full on RUclips for the first time.
Stay Alive.

Amazing concert by BIG COUNTRY! Love it 🎸🎸🎸🤘🤘🤘
Back in the days only available in the US via VHS> it's perfect now. BC is touring Europe for 4 years now...and into next year already.
Pray the hit the USA some day in our live time ... RIP Stuart....
That last track......fkn mind blowing, never seen that before, ill be saving this vid, wow. what a band they were back in the day.
Another great cover
seen them 2 months after this concert in card wtlf tour, brilliant, stuart got my my wife up on the stage, sadly the last time i saw them in this line up
Thank you so much for uploading this great Concert. I come from Wolfsburg and I'm a big Stones Fan. And love Big Country too...you can imagine what it means to me, when these two Bands play in my Hometown. I stood front row and was thrilled. You can see Stu in Minute 15.07 say "especially you"...and he pointed at me because I jumped up and down all the time ...it was a great...on a Friday Evening with 120.000 People at the big Place at VOLKSWAGEN.
The weather was great as long Big Country was playing...at 21.30 as the Stones entered the Stage, it rains cats and dogs...but it doesn't mind...it was one of the greatest concerts I've ever saw and will never forget my Heroes at this evening in my Hometown.
One more thing never happen to other Stones Support Bands...Charlie Watts from the Stones stood behind Mark the entire Gig and watched him 😊...you can see his Head if you look carefully.👍
Good story, that’s because Charlie knows that he’s watching and listening to one of the all time greats.
yeah, this is a good mix, right off the board. That makes it like a studio recording. Very nice.
Thanks so much, amazing! Especially as songs from Why The Long Face are prominently featured- I believe it's both their best and most underrated album. I'm wondering why they couldn't convert more people to giving that album a chance since they had the opportunity to play in front of such huge crowds with the Stones...
The version of "Fields of Fire" in this performance has got to be one of the best they ever gave. The solo and the rousing rise back to the song afterwards is truly, epically, moving.
Oh yes! Hi Paul, can't agree enough. It's just a pity the ambient mics weren't turned on, would have been lovely to hear some of the crowd during it as well.
Sounds as tight as it did in '84!
Crafty move by the Stones in having Big country as support. They knew Big country were very popular in Germany
Awesome treat. Thanks Andy
Another blinder! Thank you Andy ☺️
Thank You Andy so much for uploading this concert! I find myself looking forward to and. watching my email hoping to see something from you.It is because of you that BC and Stuart's music keeps getting out there to fans from all over the world.I so appreciate what you are doing for us.You don't have to ,but you take the time and energy to to so.Stuart was a very charismatic front man,and a gifted lyricist and self taught guitarist. What an amazing band they were.I have had the opportunity to purchase a poster from that concert with the stones. So very cool. Thanks once again!! Till the next time😊😊😊
❤ BC on top form.
best live band ever...rip stuart
Mark is a genius on the drums
Completely.
The Neil Young cover is sensational
also very poignant
@@grahammccready2647 The best cover
Like being back at Anleiys in Leicester....tops...oh Leicester university too... that was a experience
In "Ships" you can hear the country elements that must have attracted him to Nashville. I believe he moved there one year later.
Sadly, true. It always appeared to me that the USA ruined Adamson.
💖💖💖
OK. I found my channel for BC Binge.😄

I wish he could have reached out to someone, if only he knew how much he would be missed
Another quality find Sir, am I right in thinking this was them supporting the Stones? It sounds like there's about 4 people in the audience.
Gordon Hi there, yes, that’s correct. There were no ambient mics turned on for their performance so what you hear is the way it went into the mixing desk. A shame because I know they were well received by Stones fans on that tour. Would have been nice to have heard a little appreciation for our boys.
Hello Gordon Hay,
It's a shame that there where no mics to the Crowd. I stood front row and the audience reacted very good to Big Country. I saw over 40 Stones Concerts and it didn't happen often that Stones Fans shout for Encore to a support Band...but for Big Country they did...the same as they supported the Stones in Leipzig 95, and in 1998 in Bremen and Berlin...I was there and it was an amazing great reaction.
Only one Support was stronger...AC/DC in 2003 in Oberhausen, Leipzig and Hockenheim ...but that's no shame to BC 😊
They were well past there sell by date at this point - first three albums were absolute genius thiough - Stuart RIP
