I've been making music for over 10 years, and your standards will inevitably increase as you improve. I've learned throughout the years is that a song is probably good if you enjoy listening to it repeatedly. It should be that simple
I started taking inspiration from athletes. I realised what separates them from the average guy like me is not their talent (ok, that too) but more importantly their will power to just go on. You're not gonna win every time. Most of the time you'll "lose". The most important thing is not not give up and strive to do the absolute best YOU can do. This is when they say "stop comparing yourself to others". Yes, you should learn from your idols, but don't be disappointed if your music isn't like theirs. Just do the best you can and learn every second you're writing, recording, performing etc.
"If you've ever felt like your music isn't "good enough".............It's quite the opposite for me - for me it's "why can't you people see the brilliance of my music - what is wrong with you???" Then I slip into a funk-like depression for a few months. It's such a roller coaster.
I'm always feeling like I haven't written that song that I feel is good enough. Growing as a song writer and musician, always hoping the next song is the one that is magical
I feel you. It’s part of the process. We all go through this. Don’t compare your timeline to others either. We’re all on this music journey and as long as we keep enjoying it, no reason to stop ❤️ it’s okay to take breaks, but please keep making music ❤️
Opposite on my end. I can write the lyrics and find the perfect song. But quickly get swayed by another instrument or sound and go on to making a new song
Music is just an expression of the self, who says the music isnt beautiful or good enough, perhaps society and its expectations? but bear in mind that the goal is to evolve otherwise everything would be easy, enjoy the process and dont try to hard.
This is by far the best motivational video for music production out there. This video is touching on a lot of things not found in other content. Music is far more intuitive than you think. If you continue to desire making music, then its meant to be.
Of course it is about having fun, but most of us want others to connect to it… I don’t believe any artist that claims they don’t want others to like their music… isn’t that the ultimate goal of music? To be shared and experienced?
Yeah ur ability to render ur ideas takes time to develop. Like painting u might see an incredible concept in ur mind but just don't yet have the ability to properly reproduce what u see/hear.
I feel I'm always the one of people i know that hypes other people up...giving my opinion on what I think they could do to make their song better. But no one ever does that for me. I play my music to people sometimes and no one really ever says anything. I don't know if its the people i chose to play it for or me
@@CatDaddyMane sweet! send a link to a track asap! I wanna make sure I get to listen to it before I embark on a journey that may keep me off social media for a few weeks to maybe even a couple months 😊 (going to announce more about it soon)
I am so thankful that you posted this confirmation. I realize this for myself and was spending all this time trying to make the perfect song and one of my buddies told me you have to release more. It’s the only way that you grow. I’m learning to be OK with where I am and enjoy creating because if I think it’s good it doesn’t matter what a whole bunch of other people think.
So glad this was helpful to you! And yes continuous progress is always going to beat “perfection”. Cuz perfection doesn’t exist; but we can always strive for improvement! And the more songs you finish, the closer you’ll be to creating things that finally meet your standards/taste. Keep making music!
Yess! I totally remember you! I used to drop by your streams too! You always had great energy! And thank you so much!!! Means a lot to me when people like my songs 🥹
It’s normal to feel that way. You gotta just be comfortable with making a ton of music so that you’ll eventually gain the experience that then leads you to creating something that you’re absolutely stoked about and excited to share with the world. Keep making music.
hey autumn love your content. could you please recommend me a good website to learn mixing (especially vocals)? I'm interested in paid courses as well. I saw your video teaching how to mix on Ableton and I would like to study it in greater depth
ive written countless songs over the last 8 or 9 years and I dont have anything good to show for it. im tired of feeling like the hours I put into recording and trying to make something every day is really wearing on me. whats the point? i have nothing to show for the hundreds and hundreds of hours I put into it. I want to take a break but then I wont be making anything.
Hey Autumn, thank you much for sharing this powerful quote and insight!! It is so timely for me!!
you’re so welcome! Glad you found it helpful!

Love that. So true
This is so true… and when you get past that gap, it’s amazing. But it’s a lot of tears and frustration along the way.
Agreed! It’s just part of the process. Thanks for watching!

More people should see this. Instant relief. I just made a song and I hated it and felt terrible about it but this really helped

@@AutumnGardMusic Yeah same here. If you take a break from music and feel like going back to it within a week, then there's something there for you
Why would anyone worry about what others think music is about having fun but unfortunately in western world culture that is not what's important
Of course it is about having fun, but most of us want others to connect to it… I don’t believe any artist that claims they don’t want others to like their music… isn’t that the ultimate goal of music? To be shared and experienced?

I’m in a rut too. Sometimes you just have to create something and be happy with it even if it **sucks**
You look beautiful
