They include a modified debadged STI, a heavily modified WRX tuned to make about 90 more HP than stock among many other cool performance goodies, and possibly the coolest of the bunch a WRX with a drivetrain modified to RWD. This car is a lot more like the ones Takumi raced against than his 86.

My best guess would be: He knows that, while he lost the Eyes in the Sky (Helicopter), his verhicle is still hot, so he want's to change it quickly. Simply because the Police would still check him because of the APB. And he wouldn't get through inspection with all them Guns in the Car. That's also why he slowed down in the Alley, so he wouldn't enter the Eyes of the Police in front of him.

The fact that at 2:30 and 2:44 it says "... and the search is a mystery!" And in both the camera pans to the helicopter "searching," and then in the second they're misled (hence the "mystery)... Makes this song hit TOO PERFECTLY.
