    I went on a no buy this year for planner stuff trying to use up my shit, and was really surprised how well I did! I only bought a pack of pens when mine were gone and 1 temporary planner to hold me over until the heros journal planner ships from kickstarter. No stickers, no washi, whoo!

      Wow the strength! I was obsessed w makeup and although I still love it, im totally using um my stash. I don’t care if ur supposed to toss it by a certain time, if it works, doesn’t smell or cause me issues, im still using it!
      Now I have to work on stationary and paper crafts!

    I did a dual no-buy year and "maker's year" where basically if there was a planner thing I wanted to buy or try, I had to design it myself. The year was a success in that I was able to reset my spending habits online and in person, and I added 131 things to my Etsy shop which was kind of surprising.
    I'm continuing with a low-buy for next year.

    I'm doing a low buy year to kick my shopping addiction. I'm not so bad that I'm in debt but I do get withdrawals when I don't shop. Actually started in December and so far it's going great!

    I do target drive up, so I avoid the entire store completely lol. This was really really cool to watch. I’m going to try to attempt a no buy for 2024.

    Maybe set up for auto delivery on the Amazon items so you don’t have to go on there and deal with the temptation.

  • @kourutusunie

    I did a no buy for skincare and hair care. I was able to make it through the year but boy was I tempted. Quarter 1 was no buy for clothing, which went really well and it carried on through the rest of the year as I asked myself more if I really needed it or not.
    I need to reign in my Amazon shopping. Where I live, prime gets stuff to you the next day and I click order waaaay to quickly.

    I tried No Buy in 2022 but failed miserably so I switched to Low Buy in 2023, My version was keeping my spending to less than $200 on non-essentials. I was successful in curbing my spending 5 out of 7 months I did the Low Buy. My best month, I spent $86! Next year I intend to restart the Low Buy (fell off the wagon this month), and do it for more months. Maybe even doing it the entire 12 months! Love your videos and how you keep it real.

    I was thinking about how you can read while doing dialysis: there are stands that hold your kindle and remote page turners. This would allow you to read, and all you would need to do with your one hand would be clicking the button on your small page turner.

    I’m doing a low buy year in 2024 😅 online shopping is my downfall! And I love me some stationary items 🤩 but you’re right I don’t need it!
    I’ve started a RUclips channel to help keep myself accountable and to give me a new hobby to keep me busy! And yes relearning how to handle my budget!
    I actually don’t think No Buy is practical for long term. Great for short term changes. You did great 🎉

    You guided through a 6 month no buy for 3 categories: office supplies, supplement/vitamins, clothing. It turned into ‘a replace what works or a is need’- kick ‘wants’ to the curb. I am happy to say HURRAY- I did it.and will continue to use this method to help budget within my means. I will add a pantry-no buy for Jan & Feb to reset food costs/inflation. You have provided me the courage to face what needs to be done. Thank you.

    I am pretty good at not buying all the things stationery wise, but my one weakness is washi tape. I still don’t have nearly as much as some, but for me it’s a lot. This year, instead of coming up with monthly themes for my bujo, I decided to choose a few washi tapes for each month and then base the color scheme for the month around them. I have made a big dent in my washi stash (although I still haven’t gone through an entire roll!) The fact that I’m actually using it though feels good.

    I need to do something like this with some of my stationery items! Using things up, especially pens when you have a pen problem feels so good! I need to get my tbr pile down again.
    Have you tried reading on a kindle during dialysis? I can’t remember if you had, but they’re really great and they make stands and clickers too so you’d only have to click one thing to get the page to turn! If that’s appealing to you.
    I love that you’re giving yourself grace with the food delivery after starting dialysis. Especially if your kids can’t drive, there’s only so many options you have. And every once in a while sounds like a good in between

    I'm starting a no buy year and am doing pretty well two days in... kidding, I started about a week before the new year. Stopped myself from buying Miss Candyfloss dresses, some stationery I didn't need, some decor, and a couple specialty teas. Felt good!
    Luckily living with my boyfriend, now husband who shares in the cooking/cleanup has drastically reduced my food delivery habit already. I used to order DoorDash and groceries from Instacart multiple times a week and I think I ordered in about 3x total this past year. Even the twice we've ordered pizza we've gone and picked it up.

    Good info! I always have stuff in my Amazon cart. If I come back to buy something intentional that I need and those things are in the cart, I make a decision then. Sometimes I will decide I don’t want the thing anymore and I delete it. The rest goes into my wish list for later.

    I’m planning a no buy year for 2024!! It’s going to be tough with 2 kids. Most of my shopping is “well the kids need it” when they absolutely do not. Or I’m like “I need to try this hobby” and never visit it again after 2 weeks. So !! I’m excited.

    Stupid mobile game microtransactions are my kryptonite too, especially when I'm in pain and trying to scrounge for any drop of dopamine. My assumption had been that I'd be making stupid spending decisions when I'm on Norco, but a) I don't get high on it, just in less pain, and b) I don't have to distract myself from pain when I'm in less pain.
    I have, thus far, managed to acquire ZERO YARN in 2023 so I'll count that as a win.

    • @MusikGirl23
      @MusikGirl23 5 месяцев назад

      That is definitely a win! I am a huge crafter and yarn (especially prepackaged yarn for specific projects) was a big big problem. I have only bought one project worth in at least the past six months and most of that was with a gift card to Michael’s from one of my stepbrothers (he clearly knows me well lol). Working on it!

  • @YourGirlVee
    @YourGirlVee 6 месяцев назад +1

    That is awesome. i was with you when you started and then I definitely fell off. But I really do want to get this under control. I have so much stuff, it's overwhelming and the things I bought out of want or "need" are now making me feel so guilty (mostly because it's not getting used). So I'm giving it another go and I think I'm going to keep track (which is something I didn't do at the top of the year). I haven't decided whether it would be a no buy or low buy year... but shit has to change in 2024. Seeing you get excited about your progress is motivating so thank you.

    First I want to say it feels like the no buy just started. Time flying buy. Thankyou for inspired me to be look at my addiction to shopping. Like you I learned a lot about my spending habits. The no buy inspired me to to realized that I have a lot of stuff to use up and it challenged me to question why I was shopping so much. I started to keep lists for things I wanted and I would watch for sales. Eating out one of my big issues and even just picking up a snack here and there. I look forward to 2024 NO/LOW buy. I am working a few areas and I am I am going to be tracking this in my planner so I can look back and see what and if I am shopping. And I agree with you about the wish list, it works. I found out I would not pass out with out the item if I didn't have it immediately.

    Try do do slow cooker meals that you can put on in the morning. I also use my dinner leftovers for lunch. Because that you family is larger than mine, you can double your recipes for a second meal for the week. Also, casseroles may help you in not sending out for food.

    I FEEL PERSONALLY ATTACKED! 🤣🤣🤣 JK. As a fellow planner RUclipsr, I absolutely am guilty of the same thing!! I did so so SOOO much better for my 2024 planner launch "content" and didn't buy nearly as much as in previous years. It's freeing feeling like I don't NEED to purchase all the planners and planner things. I stuck with my favorite few planners and added a couple extras to review and that was it!
