    @JoshBarnes ... If I can get to THIS point where you were at 9 YEARS AGO, I'd be a happy man! Awesome dude! I'm 5 days in to the starter exercises on How To Sing Better Than Anyone Else 2.0

    @wildcataosw a way to master this with my system is to regularly do the whole workout very lightly 2 times back to back to be able to have the option of "stepping on the gas" or not. This will help develop the freedom to not always have to be full throttle. Then work this up in the same way with the desired songs...this will help you

    I really loved the excitement from Joshua after he sang distorted the first time.
    It's stuff like this which encourage me even more. It's hard to understand it doesn't hurt :D

    STOP AND CONSIDER THIS:
    Most all singing programs out there show NO SINGING.
    NONE.
    Only "talk" with "testimonials" making crazy claims about their product.
    Yet NO ONE IS PROVING IT WITH ANY ACTUAL SINGING
    (and I mean songs, not a scale or a note - but truly singing great).
    The coaches aren't singing, the students aren't singing.
    Don't you think that is strange?
    Something worth thinking about on you singing quest.

    Holy crap. After hearing and seeing him for the first couple of minutes I didn't expect him to pull off what he starts at 11mins. That's very, very impressive. He's got Cornell's compression technique down pat. He doesn't sound exactly like him, but he sounds like the technique is exactly the same, and that's the best thing for him: To sound like himself but pulling off the technique he's going for. Awesome, awesome stuff. Wow.

    I've been using your system, and it's working very well, but my voice doesn't naturally lean towards mask, and I find it really difficult to keep a mask presentation consistent, so I have a hard time singing high and light, but high and heavy is easy, though I REALLY want the ability to control dynamics.

    I don't know if Ken or anyone else noticed this, but his singer in training would cut him off and interrupt him sometimes. I want to talk about this because it drives my husband nuts and he's been going crazy and getting upset with me for doing it to him and how all our children (5-19) do it us too. He thinks it's disrespectful. He thinks it's to diminish his authority, etc. There's two issues with that part alone. One is we certainly didn't mean it in that way (I'll explain that more later because it's the point of this comment.). And the other is that my husband will take so much offense to it that he'll just stop talking and if the kids he'll tell then they're being rude,etc and if it's me he'll just say "I can't even finish? Okay!" then he'll turn away until I can talk him back into finishing. I've explained what I'm about to tell all of you hundreds if not thousands of times to no avail. Here's the thing, a lot of people find it rude and I never every realized it. This man, Ken said in the beginning is from Kansas. So am I. I'm sure Kansans aren't the only people like this but it's BIG there. One thing we're damn good at is being able to talk and listen at the same time. We can also sing and listen at the same time, with EASE. We don't miss a thing! We were raised doing this in our homes with our families. Our parents didn't find it rude, it's just how we communicated. We're talkers. We talk A LOT. We also tend to forget what we want to say of we don't get it out right away. One, because we're constantly wanting time talk about more and thinking of what we're going to say as new things come up in the conversation. And two, because the conversations can change quickly and we really want to get in what we want to say with good timing for what's being said; and if we wait the subject could change entirely to the point that what we wanted to say is such a late interjection only a minute later that is no longer cool to say, even if it was a cool thing. Sometimes two or more people will be talking over each other as we follow, have something to say, and still get dusted by change of topic! If we still actually remembered what we wanted to say, can find an interjection that we'll still be heard, and the topic had changed, we'll say something like "Hold on, I've got to say something, going to back to...." (doesn't have to be hold on, could be "wait", "hold up", "I was trying to tell y'all" whatever!). So the reason I wanted to say this was for Ken and anyone watching, in case they found it rude and just didn't bring it up (yet), it's not meant to be, it's just how we talk and listen. I have 4 kids still living at home and I can usually follow all of them talking at once. It drives me crazy, but I have managed sometimes! There's no way my hubby could that. Which honestly I don't get because he and his family are from Missouri and they ALL think it's so rude! The states are right next to each and practically share Kansas City, MO & Kansas City, KS! Then again, they're from the eastern parts, the outskirts of St. Louis. Maybe that changes things? Maybe it has something to do with coming from big families where it's just really hard to avoid not talking over someone if you ever want to be heard? I'm curious who else does this and where they're from and why they think they do it, and who thinks it's rude and where they're from and if they still think is rude if they know the person is still listening to you. If I made RUclips videos (not Ken's chanel because that's not what this channel is for. .at all! But. .) I would make a video about this topic, but I don't make videos like most people do and I don't even have a setup for it. Can you watch TV and so listen to someone talk? I can. My husband gets really frustrated and has to either hush at someone or if he can pause his shoes he'll try that if he thinks it could be more important than his show. Now if someone has more than a statement or a few to make, like if they're going into a long detailed story or have questions that requires serious consideration, then I would want to pause or mute the TV or other hush other people too. I do love my mute button! I wish it worked on people sometimes. Unlike my husband, I can't just block out voices of those I love! How do you men even do that! ? That's rude! Lol .. Seriously though, it's weird to be able to block out someone's voice for one, and it's rude that is always the ones you love /live with. To the singer in the video : good job, man. You're working it. Keep at it! To Ken: I'm not sure if ever commented on your videos but I've watched A LOT! I love them. Thank you for them. I don't know how I came across this older one, but I'm glad I did because I was wondering how you do the lessons online. Now I know. Very cool! What if they don't have a mic yet, just the mic built-in to their device?

    Like for example I saw this video today and tried tryed to sing this song the way you said and I can get the pitch but It is a very clean heady kind of sound that is not loud. I assume with practice you will be able to sing louder with power and grit like chris?

  • @sunburst909
    @sunburst909 13 лет назад

    This sounds a little weak, Idk if its just the computer. I assume if you keep practicing singing this with open throat technique you will eventually be able to sing it with more power and grit like chris?

  • @claptanamayer

    It really sounded like he was hitting a "sweet spot" when he sang Cochise a whole step higher! does that mean he has a higher voice than the average male? Does it mean he should be singing Chris Cornell songs higher than the studio versions, in order to reach his "sweet spot"?

    I have a quick question about the larynx, as I heard Ken mention it very quickly : is it true that the larynx must always stay in a neutral position or can it move up and down as long as you have full control over your breath? Thanks in advance!

    @kentamplin Sorry! I did not mean weak in reference to him I meant in reference to my voice I just started trying to sing like this. So I assume with practice you will be able to get more power and distortion?

    Hey Ken, I'm very seriously looking into investing into your program. I've been playing guitar since I was 13 and I'm starting to lose interest due to the fact that my singing voice is beyond terrible... I've smoked cigarettes for three past 4 years... Does that ruin my chances from having a great voice???

    • @kentamplin
      @kentamplin  9 лет назад +1

      It will be the best vocal investment you will ever make in your life. Regarding smoking. It certainly won;t help your singing...

    • @justinsmith2482
      @justinsmith2482 9 лет назад

      I'm trying to quit smoking as we speak haha. But I've been watching your videos for weeks now and just watching and listening to what you tell your students in these video sessions has made a dramatic difference on my vocals. I'm sold man. I just called your academy and priced it all so I will be investing very soon! And I'll also save up for some skype lessons so remember me! haha

    Hi Ken I was curious as to how much your Skype lessons cost

    • @kentamplin
      @kentamplin  9 лет назад +2

      Most of what I do are web cam skype sessions all over the world. My Academy is LOCATED in Hawaii and Los Angeles for "In Studio" sessions however I would strongly recommend starting with my "How To Sing - Better Than Anyone Else" course as it will save you a LOT of time and money. You can find it under the "singing courses" tab on the bottom of my KenTamplinVocalAcademy.com page (or click this link: kentamplinvocalacademy.com/2015-sale/ Then if you feel like you need to take a personal after doing the course for a bit to make sure you are on track is always a good idea (or if you just want to start straight away with personal instruction). The personal instruction is located there as well and I record the video sessions and a copy is sent to you for your reference. (or you can click this link): kentamplinvocalacademy.com/online-singing-lessons/ )
      There is also a "gold bundle option" that includes 3 one hour sessions with me. What many people do is get this (it comes with the course and basically the course is free with this option) then they will take a lesson after doing volume 1 for a while to make sure they are on track. Then do the same for volume 2 etc.
      For "In Studio" sessions you can click this link: kentamplinvocalacademy.com/personal-singing-lessons/
      I have also put great singers forums with over 5,000 like minded students and 8 moderators (including myself) to help field questions abut the course helping to take some of the guesswork out of it.
      I hope that answers your questions :-)
      -Ken
