    Hi guys, in today's video we will have a look at one of the most versatile fully manual prime lens. Since I've bought this 50mm prime lens, I'm having a lot of fun with it! It is sharp, it is fast, it has a bit of swirly bokeh, it has a great 3d rendering of the images and it is also a macro lens. In this video you will also find some side by side test of the Zeiss Classic Makro Planar 50mm f2 VS the Zeiss Classic Planar 50mm F1.4.
    This video has been filmed with an experimental anamorphic setup...can you guess what lenses I've used? Drop a comment!

    More I shoot classic Zeiss lenses series. More I think Cosina has perfected recipe for the lense, sharp but nice rendering with the way dimension transitions from in-focus to out-focus area. Color is very neutral. Even with wide angle ones 18mm 3.5 zf,ze. In 5-8 years, I could see again the price rising of 2nd hand classic lineup. 50mm 1.4 at 1.4 dues to intentional spherical aberration give very nice look for portrait,I’m loving it.

      I totally agree! Cosina is producing very nice lenses. Thanks for watching!

    been watching your channel alot recently.. I actually have one Zeiss classic.. of course I don't remember them calling it that when I bought in back in 2009-10 lol,, its the Distagon 35mm 1.4 ZE (EF) .,, I have been collecting vintage Zeiss recently.. but only Jena and AEG / HFT so far.. I'm curious as to how different the MMJ lenses are from the classics.. considering they are both T* coatings and both made in Japan..

    • @LucaBono.Studio
      @LucaBono.Studio  Год назад +1

      When I compare my Contax Zeiss 80-200mm F4 MMJ with the Zeiss Classic prime lenses, I see that the zoom lens has a more organic rendering of the images. But if I snap a soft diffusion filter on the prime lenses, the images are almost identical. Cheers!

    Love your Zeiss reviews - very helpful!
    I'm about to buy a Zeiss Classic set for my S1H. How do you think the 50mm f/2 match up whit the 35mm f/2? Will the difference in light transmission be a problem, if I wanna shoot f/2?

    • @LucaBono.Studio
      @LucaBono.Studio  Год назад +4

      Thanks! The 35mm f2 is also loosing some light, because of the long barrel...it performs like an f2.4 lens, so you will be fine. Keep in mind that the 35mm f2 has a bit of purple fringing if used wide open. The best kit to have, for clean colours, is 15mm f2.8, 25mm f2, 50mm f2, 135mm f2. Cheers!

    The makro planar is my first zeiss zf lens, like it but always struggle to bring it out due to heavier weight and bigger size. Do you find the bokeh its at f2.0 is little less shallow compared to planar 50 at f2.0 ?

    • @LucaBono.Studio
      @LucaBono.Studio  Год назад

      Not really, because the makro planar has a strong vignetting, that will create a nice swirly bokeh. I like them both because they're very different. Cheers!

    I have visited amsterdam for only 3 days :( it was the most beautiful city ( not modern ) that I went to. At that time I was just fooling around and got ourselves a pana g85 as my lady wanted to start vlogging and me videography, in the end I was the one that used the camera more all while being a digital designer haha as my 9.5 job. But some of my best shots are still from this trip :D!

    It’s a nice lens. I tried the zeiss 100mm f2 macro, it’s really good, but sometimes it has too many CA, the Leica R 100mm f2.8 APO macro is better in this aspect, since it has no CA at all, and imho it has slightly better colors

    • @LucaBono.Studio
      @LucaBono.Studio  Год назад

      Yeah, I've skipped the 100mm f2 and I've bought the 135mm f2 Apo + an achromatic diopter, if I need macro shots. One day I'll probably buy the Elmarit 100mm f2.8...that lens seems fantastic, but pricy too. Thanks for warning!

    • @tiziocaio8657
      @tiziocaio8657 Год назад

      @@LucaBono.Studio the 100mm f2.8 apo macro Leica is basically as sharp as mine GF120mm f4 macro, the colours are even more beautiful. Probably it’s the best Leica R lens

    • @LucaBono.Studio
      @LucaBono.Studio  Год назад

      The Zeiss Apo Sonnar 135mm is the sharpest lens in the market, but it has a typical zeiss bokeh...so I think I would prefer the Elmarit 100mm Apo too 👌🏼

    • @tiziocaio8657
      @tiziocaio8657 Год назад +1

      @@LucaBono.Studio well, I think that a good Leica S medium format lens would be sharper than the 135mm apo zeiss. Sharpness is important but but imho micro contrast and colours are much more important for a good lens, and imho Leica can’t be beaten in that

    • @LucaBono.Studio
      @LucaBono.Studio  Год назад

      Did you use the Zeiss 135mm F2 Apo? I own both Leica R and Zeiss glass, and nothing can get close to this lens...except the Leica Apo SL that are 10% better, but cost 5 time more

    I got milvus 50/1.4 but the lens too large for my fm2n and fg especially. I plan on getting zeiss 50/2 and milvus 35/2.

    Nice! I really like this lens, there were almost no video images on the internet when I bought it, it's great to have a test of this quality!
    if you ever have a Zeiss Apo sonnar 135mm f2 I'd be curious to hear your opinion, I had it in my hands for a few minutes but the result was pretty crazy, I even wonder if I wouldn't buy it (but 135mm on a RED S35 sensor.. it's hard to imagine)
