Btw, remember that the opening for this season is like a villain’s victory theme? Yeah, Sukuna was basically mocking Yuji through the song and the lyrics.
The opening’s lyrics are literally Sukuna mocking yuji so putting the opening at this moment is a way to show us that Sukuna is laughing inside of yuji’s body
No, thats not it.. At that time yuji wanted to die and hated himself but tge animation team replied with opening "you are my special". He is the main character 🥵🤧
Yuji's Grandpa told him to help others in the flashback right at the start of the episode. But Sukuna showed him killing all those people in Shibuya using his body so he took a MASSIVE step back in his goal to help others. Nanami looks like he lost half his body, crazy.
Malevolent Kitchen took me completely off guard 🤣 I'm sure it is just a mistranslation, and it's more widely known as Malevolent Shrine still, but given Sukuna's technique of slicing, dicing, burning, cooking up devious sht, and eating fingers, I guess he's kind of a chef himself. Just to give some Spoiler-Free Explanation, because the Episode didn't do it quite well in Comparison to the Manga: Mahoraga (the Shikigami) has the Ability to adapt to literally ANYTHING. Fire/Heat, Swords, Mahitos Soul Manipulation, Gojos Infinity - you name it. The Concept is OP AS FUCK, which is why no 10 Shadows user in the past couple of hundred years was able to tame it :D You basically hit it with something and after that it just takes some time to slowly nullify that kind of attack completely. It's the reason that Sukuna initially cut off Arms, then just fingers and then just left some Scratches. He HAD to switch to Domain Expansion, because at this Point his normal Technique would deal 0 dmg. It is also why he didn't finish it off with Domain Expansion. He used his Domain for a couple of Seconds to deal significant initial Damage, but then switched to something that hasn't been adapted to (Fire) to finish the Job. His Domain wouldn't be able to deal more Damage anyway, since Mahoraga already took it for a couple of Seconds - giving it enough time to adapt. Mahoraga is also a Being of almost pure Energy, so it can heal and restore itself just like we've seen it before with Curses (Jogo, Hanami ect). It tanks a couple of hits, restores itself and is then completely immune to those hits it took in the first place xD
One of the leaks by the team said, the episode was only about 30% of what they envisioned. u really saw that it was unfinished, but it was still amazing.

9:35 You ask about Sukuna's technique, let me try to give an overview: Sukuna's technique is about slicing matter. The attack however is too fast to see for any scorcerer or person. Sukuna can also choose which attack he uses. Dismantle typicaly is multiple, weaker cuts. Cleave is one, massive cut. You can think of dismantle as a rapier and cleave as a longsword. When Sukuna opens his domain expansion he uses both, one to target objects with no cursed energy and one is to target people, scorcerers or things that emit cursed energy. His domain expansion is the complete and utter evaporation of matter. Slicing everything up so fine that it basically seizes to exist. What makes Mahoraga so special? Mahoraga as explained in the anime can adapt to any and all phenomena. There are two quick examples of this: 1) When he is crushed underwater, you can see him develop gills. 2) He first strikes Sukuna with the Exorcism Sword, embued with positive energy. As Sukuna says, this would have killed a cursed spirit on the spot. But Mahoraga later swaps the sword to cursed energy because it adapts to figthing a scorcerer. Furthermore, when Mahoraga is hit with an attack, his body absorbs the attack, learns how it works and the wheel on his back will turn, signifying that he's adapted to the technique. That means that from now on he takes reduced damage and this will keep decreasing until it's zero (in the anime, you can see him regenerating quicker than Sukuna can slash with his domain because he's nearly fully adapted to the slashes). Mahoraga can keep doing this for every click on the wheel, though we don't know if he can keep going forever or if it's limited at seven (seven clicks make one full rotation). We also don't know if the adaptations are permanent (Sukuna now bombarded Mahoraga with slicing attacks and fire, if Megumi now fights Sukuna will Mahoraga have to re-adapt or is it already resistant to cleave and dismantle)?
@@odic1479 For directly looking at the Japanese though, Malevolent Shrine (伏魔御厨子/fukuma mizushi) is made of this iirc: 伏魔/fukuma comes from 伏魔殿/fukumaden, which is a demonic gathering place, and 御厨子/mizushi could come from a lot of things. A “厨子/zushi”, ignoring the “mi”, is a small Buddhist shrine used for storage. This could give a hint for the unconfirmed theory that Sukuna’s technique is related to pulling different “tools” out of his shrine. On the other hand, it could be referencing a “御厨子所/mizushi-dokoro”, which is a really old word for a section of the imperial palace where food is prepared for the emperor. Not sure if it’s the actual kitchen or a separate place where they decorate the food and plate it and stuff. Also - the “厨/zu” kanji is most directly translated as “kitchen” iirc. For all we know, both “Malevolent Shrine” and “Malevolent Kitchen” could be correct, and might have a double meaning on purpose. Given the physical manifestation of the domain clearly being a shrine, though, I’m inclined to believe the “Shrine” translation is more correct, even if “kitchen” might have some weight to it.

I watched that episode and thought to myself, which executives have to be cleave and dismantled for the MAPPA animators to unionize? Because that’s likely the only way they can catch a break.
Its a shame Mappa might lose these talented animators... I hope JJK will live on but not by overworking passionate people! You kill the passion , you kill the talent, you kill the anime... As for this episode, I can see some assets werent polished, non-important ones, but the rest holy smokes this fight was beyond anything I expected!
Is this a translation over at Crunchy Roll? Damn they are slacking! Over at BiliBili it's Dismantle and Cleave, Malevolent Shrine and what not they bettter correct that shizzz
I was waiting for the intro song but Boiiiiiiii I did not expect it to play during yuji's mental breakdown. It was done so well! It's like a demon slayer episode 19 moment right there. Gave me chills!
just an FYI Sukuna LOATHES Itadori so if you were wondering... yeah a chunk of the stuff he did the last two episodes could be seen as him doing them just to torture Itadori... and people wonder why Sukuna doesn't make a deal with Itadori
I think the way they inserted the music made viewers realize the things happened in shibuya incident, because the song is more like a representative of shibuya incident than a theme of JJK, and express that Itadori Yuji's value of things and his mentality is changing. (it may be difficult to understand if you don't know the concept of this song) For me, it was the best scene of this episode that the sound and Yuji's voice matches perfectly and it actually made me tear up.
@@coal159 no offense. but by meaning and according to Sukuna's techinique, Malevolent "KITCHEN" is more accurate. I think S1 translation was wrong. 伏魔御厨子. 御厨子 means 'chef for king(emperor)'s kitchen'
@@little_error295 No offense. i'm just saying. as a manga reader and as korean(also use Kanji), Kitchen is more accurate. western guys can see it as shrine, but for Asian, it's just an old style building. there's a huge Bone in center of building, it can be seen as big pot for cooking. Sukuna's domain expansion name is伏魔御厨子.伏魔 means "hidden evil" or "subdue evil" 御厨 means "king(emperor)'s kitchen" 子 mean "son" or "man(person)" furthermore, when sukuna cut Special-grade into 5 pieces at S1 E4, Sukuna said "I want 3 pieces, but u r so weak". he use the word "三枚". 三枚おろし(sanmai oroshi) is jargon(? professional word) about cutting fish in japan. Sukuna's Technique "Kai" "Hachi" is also Jargon about cutting meat. and this episode, sukuna said "not delicious" after hit by Makora. however, Manga isn't finished yet. so Only Writer knows what's correct though. sry for my bad english lol

Makora and Malevolent shrine caught me off guard LOL in the manga is Mahoraga and i know everyone already know the correct word for sukuna domain expansion is "MALEVOLENT SHRINE"
Idk the voice actor actually says Makora and I’ve been hearing Mahoraga is the actual mistranslation. Also, the kanji for Sukuna’s DE can also be translated to Malevolent Kitchen which would make sense since his slicking and fire techniques fit the theme of cooking. The issue is that kitchen sounds too goofy though lol
Just to clarify about Sukuna's domain expansion. Malevolent Shrine is whats called an open domain where unlike say Mahito's self imbodiment of perfection thats closed entirely Sukuna's has an escape route. That means that theres no guaranteed hit condition. Because its open, sukuna can extend the range of it by up to 200 meters iirc but because megumi was within that 200 meters and he didnt want to hit him he shrank it down to 140 meters. Most domain expansions create basically a pocket dimension thats inclosed so the other person cant escape. By having it be open yeah the other person can escape but unless youre 200 meters away from sukuna when he activates it youre basically guaranteed to die
To clarify most of talent on this episode wasn't in-house staff but freelancers (which is typical of most productions). Regardless they aren't getting any better treatment or conditions for work. P.S. By "talent" I'm referring to animation production specifically
They added the song when Yuji is breaking down because it's supposed to be a mockery to Yuji, showing how the villains succeed on killing the people the sorcerers were meant to protect
Makora's actual translation is "Mahoraga", pronounced Ma- ho-ra-ga. Fun trivia tho, The word "Mahoraga" is very similar to the word "Maharaja" which means "Great king" in Hindi and Nepali. we don't know if that was intentional, or just a coincidence
@@gaiusx287 nah. Its pretty solidified in the Manga. Its been put for more than a year and wasn't fixed so Mahoraga is the actual translation. And come on, that episode turned "Manevolent Shrine" to "Manevolent Kitchen", did you really trust it?😂. And it also turned "Cleave" into "Fillet" and "Dismantle" into "Dissect"🤣
"People are gonna die because you live" -Sukuna at the end of season 1 I could imagine Yuji thought back to that once he saw all that he did being only the second time Sukuna has come out since he became a sorcerer. Animators really put in more work than I thought to the Mahoraga fight, insane visuals with the slice and dice grids going on in the fight.
This episode wasnt even finished lol. Theres some obvious missing cuts and general jankiness. Just sad because it could've been MORE insane. A known english speaking animator just said on Twitter that he was working on cuts YESTERDAY.
yeah, it was easy to notice lots of placeholders, pixelated props, some shiny aftereffects on rough cuts, specially when sukuna cast FUGA, that shit was basically a colored animatic cut XD, they even added some powerpoint blur to the stills to hide the brutal jankiness. It reminded me of the production situation in Karekano, where the animators did some black magic to make use of the extremely limited budget they had.
The final product had 30% of the ambition that the episode was supposed to have, and this still ended up being the most ambitious episode in the franchise.
Fun Fact 1: one of the animators who worked on E17 said, from his perspective, this episode is only 30% complete. Imagine if they had more time to finish it properly. Fun Fact 2: someone on the production team said that the S2 OP lyrics were written from the curses' perspective, that's why it's kinda upbeat. So having the OP play at the moment of Yuji's breakdown is essentially the curses laughing at him.
Megumi did the same thing the previous zenin clan head did. He started the ritual and died first so as to have mahoraga kill his enemy. Megumi only survivrs brcause sukuna has PLANS for him Sukuna is the first character we see with an open domain. And he has the perfect offence unlike Gojos perfect defence. he kept attacking Mahoraga so much that he never got enough opportunity to adapt to Cleve and dismantle properly. Buit even that was not enough to kill it so sukuna used the still unexplained flames to finish off a weakened mahoraga. it also shows how powerful Mahoraga is. Mahoraga can adapt to withstand all enemy attacks and find a counter to all enemy defenses. he could have adapted to all of sukunas attacks if given the chance. he was already partly getting immune to them. there was not enough opportunity for the wheel to turn. Sukunas initial attacks barely hurt it and even his domain expansion wasnt enough. As for youji..... now that there is no gojo to defend him what will happen to him after that slaughter. ya hope things settle down with Mappa.
The lyrics to the intro are mocking yuji when he's breaking down "Enjoy the moment, let's dance On the frontline of Tokyo, the thriving city Struggle on the verge of giving up Show me your fearless side"
To add to the Rumors about the animators just walking out of the office, that's pretty much nonsensical, the rumor was spread by a leaker who sometimes gets stuff right but usually just speculates or lies for Twitter clout. However, this does not mean that the animators are happy with how they're being treated, they often lash out on twitter about the studio and the hellish schedule they're being put under. Thing is, JJK and animation are a thing of passion for most of these people, so much so that they kinda just put up with their conditions. They are upset with themselves when an episode is unfinished, like Fluctuations part 1 was, quite a few even so bad that they would call themselves worthless over one or two unfinished cuts. It is truly a horrible thing that their unwavering passion for the project is being exploited to such extent just because a couple higher ups want to maximize their profits. It is also horrifying to see how people who are working under such conitions have basically no real means to uionize to force change, some of the animators even publicly announcing that they would work on a Season 3 if it were to happen, opening themselves up to be exploited the same way they were before.

I watched that episode and thought to myself, which executives have to be cleave and dismantled for the MAPPA animators to unionize? Because that’s likely the only way they can catch a break.
The opening song vibes fits to the shibuya aftermath and the casualty sukuna made and i remember that the opening was made for the villains in jjk
Its a shame Mappa might lose these talented animators... I hope JJK will live on but not by overworking passionate people! You kill the passion , you kill the talent, you kill the anime...
As for this episode, I can see some assets werent polished, non-important ones, but the rest holy smokes this fight was beyond anything I expected!
animators have stated that they will be happy to return if the schedule was better. but aye
@@8ooty0They still have the motivation to continue??? Damn MAPPA’s blessed to have such employees 😭😭
Is this a translation over at Crunchy Roll? Damn they are slacking! Over at BiliBili it's Dismantle and Cleave, Malevolent Shrine and what not they bettter correct that shizzz
Playing specialz in the ending was a masterstroke. Which paid off beautifully showing what JJK truly is.😢
I was waiting for the intro song but Boiiiiiiii I did not expect it to play during yuji's mental breakdown. It was done so well! It's like a demon slayer episode 19 moment right there. Gave me chills!
If there’s anything that the animators gave for their sacrifice, was one of the greatest episodes of one of the greatest seasons of any media ever
highkey for someone who hasn't read the manga you catch on to the plot and upcoming events really well!
i often get comments saying the opposite so thank you LMAOOO🤣🙏🏼
Malevolent "Kitchen" is wild lmaoooooooooo
It’s much better now with Malevolent Kitchen and Furnace (Open)
just an FYI Sukuna LOATHES Itadori so if you were wondering... yeah a chunk of the stuff he did the last two episodes could be seen as him doing them just to torture Itadori... and people wonder why Sukuna doesn't make a deal with Itadori
There is no stopping for jjk animators and the next coming episodes are going to be a banger
11:07 the OST wasn't the only thing that was cookin...LOL
The music that starts when Sukuna does his domain expansion give a lot of Nier Automata vibe and I LOVE IT!
*SUBTITLE:* Malevolent *"KITCHEN"*
*ME:* I Mean....The Animators and GoatSukuna is cooking in this episode.
it's not wrong actually, same name as Season1 would be better though.
@@Clos5098 it is malevolent shrine the subtitles just sold
@@coal159 no offense.
but by meaning and according to Sukuna's techinique, Malevolent "KITCHEN" is more accurate. I think S1 translation was wrong.
伏魔御厨子. 御厨子 means 'chef for king(emperor)'s kitchen'
@@little_error295 No offense. i'm just saying.
as a manga reader and as korean(also use Kanji), Kitchen is more accurate. western guys can see it as shrine, but for Asian, it's just an old style building. there's a huge Bone in center of building, it can be seen as big pot for cooking.
Sukuna's domain expansion name is伏魔御厨子.伏魔 means "hidden evil" or "subdue evil" 御厨 means "king(emperor)'s kitchen" 子 mean "son" or "man(person)"
furthermore, when sukuna cut Special-grade into 5 pieces at S1 E4, Sukuna said "I want 3 pieces, but u r so weak". he use the word "三枚".
11:20 they were in the malevolent kitchen while cooking up this ost
Thank you for this fun and beautiful content ♥😊
I really hope mappa give some rest to their animators cuz they are making and incredible job and I don’t want jjk to end like this
End like what?
@@clarkkent2005 what I mean is I don’t want this to be the last good animated episode so I hope the animators get some rest
@@clarkkent2005there is an all out meltdown of mappa going on. . .production of JJK has been halted cause animators are tired, release of following episodes are unsure
@@AlejandroHernandez-wn9gf oh ok
@@turbulentmind2044 I see. I’m completely fine with that. I don’t know why our animators and voice actors aren’t treated better. It sucks. They’re the reason why these shows are what they are. They can take all the time they need. I have plenty of other anime I can watch in the meantime.
i think Gojo try to say Megumi's 10 shadows really strong even defeated previous six eyes - limitless user but not Gojo himself =))
they played this song couse for the incedent arc Yuji IS HIS SPECIAL, a guy who goes thro all madness
I heard that in Japan the divine general is known as Makora, but in the manga translations it’s known as Mahoraga
Yuji: crying throwing up
Sukuna: YOU ARE MY SPECIAL🗣😘
Imagine having such a powerful technique which results in your death but Megumi uses it on a guy with ponytail😂
the Malevolent Kitchen mistranslation lmao Amazing episode.
誤訳じゃないですよ
Yuji needs a break, he's such a good guy and he has to go through this 😢
Bro why does your hair look so soft, I’ve never seen someone have such nice looking hair through a RUclips video before😭😭 I need to step my hair game up fml lmfao
5:00 because megumi is like sasuke and sukuna is orochimaru.. get it?
also correction its called malovelent shrine, the tecnique are cleave for cursed energy and dismantle for no cursed energy there was a translation error
The op song fit perfectly because of the lyrics. Its almost like sukuna taunting or laughing at him.
a remix that has the rhythm of the scene. probably the composer made an OST for this scene. but the director chose the op
These animators deserve a long vacation & better pay (Shoutouts to that little Megumi in the lamp i just saw)
Sukuna was cooking in the malevolent kitchen for sure. perfect name lol
Yuji after switch is so much different from yuji before this switch
To clarify most of talent on this episode wasn't in-house staff but freelancers (which is typical of most productions). Regardless they aren't getting any better treatment or conditions for work.
P.S. By "talent" I'm referring to animation production specifically
Man I was crying when the OP started to play, it really felt like a curse. Like turn that shit off!! I can’t bop to this soong ever anymore.
Sukuna's domain name not meloverent kitchen it's meloverent shrine that was sub tittle error 😭
Megumi really unloaded a tactical nuke on a total pissant 😭😭😭 bro was just done with shibuya
- "Ryoiki Tenkai Fukuma Mizushi" ah music in my ears
I actually love's watching ur reactions ❤
They added the song when Yuji is breaking down because it's supposed to be a mockery to Yuji, showing how the villains succeed on killing the people the sorcerers were meant to protect
Makora's actual translation is "Mahoraga", pronounced Ma- ho-ra-ga.
Fun trivia tho, The word "Mahoraga" is very similar to the word "Maharaja" which means "Great king" in Hindi and Nepali. we don't know if that was intentional, or just a coincidence
I’ve been heading that Mahoraga is a mistranslation and that Makora is the actual name.
Sukuna is truly the king. He ain't even at full power 😭
I'm really speechless after this episode
Sukuna thinks he's Gordon Ramsay with that goofy ahh domain expansion
That Malevolent Kitchen caught me so off guard dude-
Even I thought that was fear, but in real he was smiling.. bro's fooling us
Sukuna just casually carries nukes on him, that's crazy.
"People are gonna die because you live" -Sukuna at the end of season 1
I could imagine Yuji thought back to that once he saw all that he did being only the second time Sukuna has come out since he became a sorcerer.
Malevolent kitchen 💀 Sukuna is LITERALLY cooking. bro can cut, heat, and talk smack like a real Chef.
Sukuna was cooking in the Malevolent Kitchen for sure.
Wild that a 15+ finger Sukuna possessing Megumis body, could successfully subjugate Maharaja and how OP that would be
🤐🤐🤐🤐
malevolent kitchen is a mistranslation, it's malevolent shrine (same as season 1)
gojo satoru is different, he is the strongest in gojo clans in all of the time
give the animators a raise bro, and better treatment cause they delivered on this episode!
It's the vision . Not the animation
THIS EP IS WILDDDDD
Megumi did the same thing the previous zenin clan head did. He started the ritual and died first so as to have mahoraga kill his enemy. Megumi only survivrs brcause sukuna has PLANS for him
Sukuna is the first character we see with an open domain.
I immediately Rush to YT to watch Your reaction after watching the ep every week
The lyrics to the intro are mocking yuji when he's breaking down
"Enjoy the moment, let's dance
On the frontline of Tokyo, the thriving city
Struggle on the verge of giving up
Show me your fearless side"
Ngl that malevolent kitchen kills the hype to me 😂
The OP is sukuna talking down to Yuji if you look into the lyrics
It's not malevolent shrine, it's angry closet. And his techniques are slap and karate chop
Insane episode and you’re looking lovely
Malevolent Kitchen? I burst out laughing my ass off
I love the animators are receiving death threats from people who watch their shows
idk why it said makora but the shikigamis name is Mahoraga
Nanami be looking like Guz from Breaking Bad 💀
魔虚羅(makora)字もかっこいい✨
Hey Alana alana alanaaa... Let's check the BlueRay version for this ep... There's masterpiece scene added😊
Mahoraga said fuck out the way to megumi 🤣
13:02 my exact thought lmao
13:13 Personality shift gonna happens🗿
Pray for the animators hopefully they get justice
