Also battle effects is not much relevant anymore because players usually pop something with card effects during main phase. The fact that if Aqua Dolphin failed to get rid of opponent's card, but you still got the information about your opponent's hand is not that really bad.
I remember thinking Aqua Dolphin had some real potential back in the early Synchro days when Tuners with low ATK were seeing play; though the problem with back then was that many powerful tuners didn't care or even thrived in the graveyard (Spore, Glow-Up Bulb, Plaguespreader Zombie, etc.) - the evolution of hand traps really was the step needed to make him viable.
I would love if there was more Yubel support, collaboration Yubel/Neos/Heroes cards, or at least support to make Neos Wiseman viable. Kluger is nice, but it really needs more. Or They could always just make Wiseman a fusion.

It was a Fusion in the anime. The way Jaden summoned it in Season 4 was cause Darkness/Nightshroud took Yubel from Jadens deck. Jaden used Super Poly to make Neos Wiseman. Wiseman anime also has a floating effect if it was destroyed you special summon Neos. Konami nerfed it cause they though it would be too strong. Which it most certainly would have not as Dimensional Prison existed in 2008

2:36 Ironically, Neos Wiseman WAS A FUSION in the anime. But For some bizarre reason, it got turned into a Main Deck Monster once it got printed in real life
That's kind of always been the thing with Neos/pacian monsters: they've always been very situational monsters in the anime, mainly so Jaden/Judai could win in those same niche situations. That's why when an entire format let's you abuse that exact situation, that Neos card starts seeing play. Plus they've always had good typing so it's no surprise they've mostly had a time to shine for a format or two.
Hilarious, but sensible, that the effect monsters would have better status than all the specific E Hero Spells. Even the base effect E Heroes like Wildheart and Necroshade had neat effects for the time.
Jaden was actually pretty 5head when designing these Neos cards. It was garbage when released but Jaden probably thinks ahead of how the Meta will evolve, hence Aqua Dolphin. (also, even Neos got a really good support card over the year as well.)
I never understood why the original neos fusions didn’t bring back neos and the neospacian like the gladiator beasts did(ish). It just seems so ridiculous to lose so much for such mediocre effects.
If I remember correctly, the gladiator beasts came out pretty much right after the neos fusions, so it seems like they quickly realized their mistakes, and just moved on to a new archetype to fix them lol.
Irónically some had decent effects in anime. The glow moss / Dark Panther triple contact fusión had a "Negate the opponent's Monster Effects on Summon" if I remember correctly but apparently were changed into a massively mediocre effect involving coins
My theory is that, at the time, Neos was a high attack monster and the fusion monsters could theoretically be summoned easier than regular fusions because they didn't need Polymerization. So, they over-balanced them, believing that players would win on the turn the monsters were summoned. The problem was that they didn't know what effects would be good or bad, so every Neo-Spacian has drastically different effects that are either broken or useless. Balancing them by needing a field spell basically made them worse than normal fusion monsters, and they didn't have a way to get Neos on the field easily at a time when special summoning monsters was becoming more of a thing, so a 2-tribute 2500-attack vanilla wasn't as good as it used to be. Maybe if the archetype was released later in the GX-era it might have been done differently. Or, maybe if they were just normal fusion monsters that gained additional effects with Neo-Space on the field instead of needing it to survive they might have been meta for a while.
@@qty1315 GX felt like a learning curve for special summoning, and effects were all over the place without the once per turn clauses. Later releases would take advantage of that, alongside the once niche effects that became useful like Super Polymerization.
Grand Mole is my most favorite Neos card of all time. I used it back then when it was limited to 1 copy and It's my most favorite monster removal of all time And since it only has 900 ATK, it just low enough to avoid an effect of Trap Hole, which was a staple card in my local neighborhood back then.
Elemental HEROs/Neos is still my favorite archetype to this day, which means that, for once, I actually have a deck (in Duel Links) with most of the cards mentioned here. I feel right at home.
It isn't worth it in the slightest as aromage isn't popular at all. Maybe one game out of 100 that'll make you face an aromage player in high ranks. Air neos is also just bad in duel links. Brave neos is just a way better option. He has most of the time higher base attack and an effect or grand neos for a bounce and 2.5k or 3k damage if you're using the field spell. Just not a good card in duel links especially when everyone's running cosmic cyclone and most decks are always low on lp after their 1st turn whether it's solemn or cosmic
@Hikari Arts 2.0 or abyssal designator or cybernetic fusion support since its activation is not depend on card on the field so you can always activate it anytime.
having kluger and wiseman against anything with 3000+ is a "dont spend your lifepoints buddy". your opponet spends points and boom the double punch takes them out with their own monster.

Actually they do still have good cards that could easily take hummingbirds place like Brave Neos,Nebula Neos,Cosmo Neos,Storm Neos,Magma Neos And Miracle Contact
Sunavalons have some pretty nice synergy thanks to Healer and being able to make Link Jasmine super easily. They end up fulfilling a key role in Plant goodstuff decks as a result. Unfortunately if you'd rather play pure the truth is that most of the Aromages suck, with only the two Jasmines, Laurel, Angelica, and Sweet Marjoram being useful.
it's goal isn't to have a million lifepoints, but they gain advantage and activate effects upon gaining lifepoints, so I'd say they're a lifepoint gain strat. A pure lifepoint gain stall deck would never work and even if it did World's would say no and ban it due to time.
@@nedrostram2360 Air Hummingbird is actually pretty good. People just don't know how to build decks. You gotta keep experimenting with cards and come up with your own formula. I use Air Humming with Red Reboot (pay half my life), Air gains lots of LP. Opponent can't run traps. Or I'll use Popperup to pay LP to draw cards. You gotta keep experimenting. That's what Konami wants you to do. Eventually that one person will come up with some crazy ideas and everyone will follow suit.
Lol! It’s always funny that Air Neos is the only one of the six original Neos Fusions to not be in Duel Links. Just imagine the amount of cheese that would result from that card! Then again, Duel Links is the home of a bunch of cheese concepts.
I think about that a lot. In Duel Links, extra deck cards don’t shuffle, and irl I’m super anal about the specific ordering of my extra deck. I think it maybe says “shuffle” just to keep the wording consistent with other cards?
Maybe they add "shuffle" because it doesn't need polymerization to summon them, maybe they're thinking it'll give so much advantage (even though it's actually harder to summon them), so they give a huge drawback on its fusion monster.

@@Meridianblood They have "shuffle" to distinguish it from returning to the top or bottom of the deck (which are also common effects). "Shuffle" = place randomly into your deck. Also, there are cards that do random things with the extra deck, so *technically* you're not supposed to organize it (though you can shuffle it if you need to do x thing with random cards in your extra deck).
The best way to use humming bird is to have astral barrier, spirit barrier on the field & imperial custom on the field so you can get loads of life points turn after turn.
I used Red Reboot to stun my opponents from using traps. Also, its pays half my life points and goes well with Air Neos so I can OTK my opponents. Or I use Performal Popperup.
i'm kinda sad to not see Nebula Neos on here, but i understand why. I doubt it ever saw competetive play since you would need to play an acutual Neo Space deck to summon it. Since it's a triple contact fusion, it's not a target for Neos Fusion either
That's the worst thing. Most of the regular Neos cards (except Rainbow Neos and Neos Kluger), are terrible. I guess you could say Grand Neos is okay as well. But the real good cards are the triple contacts. Yet Neos Fusion doesn't work with them, since it requires two fusion materials exactly, and Miracle Contact doesn't search the deck for the materials. It's a raw deal any way you take it. Edit: I know Rainbow Neos isn't a contact card, I just meant the Fusion cards that list only two as material in general.
@Supreme King Yeah, I understand why they would want to add the restrictions, I just don't like it lol. The Neos Fusions are some of my favourite monsters, but I rarely play them because gathering the materials takes too much effort sometimes.
@Supreme King also, none of nebula neos's effects are once per turn. I made a fun deck once were i managed to summon him mutiple times in a turn (obviously not against competitive decks) using stuff like miracle contact among others
@Supreme King I don't think any card like that would be released any time soon. Or if it was it would be banned immediately because people would abuse it. But we can only dream.
I bring it out easily! I use Popperup or Convert Contact to ditch my materials to graveyard. I would either use Miracle Contact or NEXT to bring out Nebula Neos. If my opponent has negation monsters on field. I use Dark Ruler No More to get that draw power. Or I'll use Lightning Storm to stun backrows or Red Reboot. I wanna make a deck profile sometime.

I used to love my water neos deck in DL. Got kog at least 5x with it. Aqua dolphin and it’s fusion were great especially with using atlanteans and even an erreta sinister serpent. With abyss soldier being a faster version of gale lizard or nightmare penguin OTK we’re so easy. Fingers crossed we get the good water mask change fusions eventually

I think nebula neos should be included, the ability to draw cards according to the number of cards your opponent controls is insane. Not to mention single target negate upon summoning and full field facedown banish upon returning to extra deck
I think the only thing that prevent it from appearing on this list is because it requires 3 monsters to *contact fusion* which makes Neos Fusion cannot target it.
I don't think you quite understand how ridiculous that is. Cause it's literally not possible unless you're using banned or broken cards that'll get banned for looping. As infinitly looping is the only conceivable way you'd gain 92k lp
Because Anime gimmicks When Jaden needs LP for specific reasons or when he's low on LP and summons it. Anime both GX and 5Ds is notorious for contradictory effects
Well, Hummingbird and Panther share the distinction of having opposite effects than their fusions. While the other 4 have either a similar effect (Scarab) or a slightly more powerful one (Moss, Mole and Dolphin), Hummingbird and Panther have exact opposites; Air Neos gets more ATK the less LP You have; Hummingbird gives you more LP. Dark Neos negates the effects of a target; Panther copies the effects to use it as its own.

The even bigger problem with Neos Wiseman is that it WAS a fusion in the anime. I don’t know what possessed them to make it a main deck effect monster but man was that a stupid decision.
Top 10 cards whose artwork tells you their effect (or explains their effect). Example, Level Resist Wall because it’s artwork refers to its effect to summon monsters from the deck that equal the level of a destroyed monster

Ideas for other lists; - Worst Archtypes (that saw no play so no Ice Barriers becuase syncro monster saw lots of play) - Best Performapal Monsters - Best Specific serchers (Search only 1 named card) - Worst cards with no target removal
Rainbow Neos is also just a tiny bit easier to summon via cards like Future Fusion and Elemental Hero Prisma. In fact, I wonder if Prisma was made with this card in mind (because a prism creates a rainbow)
You unfortunately can’t send rainbow dragon because it says “rainbow dark dragon or rainbow dragon”, so you can only send neos (the card that’s much easier to search to begin with)

NEOS Alius has the added benefit, if successful, to be affected by NEOS Space, making ATK 2400. Another benny for it is a solid card to have first out for XYZ summons, making *4 XYZs using HEROs as fodder as even more viable.
Neos Fusions need a new fieldspell like Babel that make their effects quick effects. GLow neos, dark neos and gran neos are weak off the fact that they can only play their effects during your turn. Here is an example: Neo Space 2: New World "Elemental HERO Neos" and all Fusion Monsters that list "Elemental HERO Neos" as a Fusion Material Monster gain 500 ATK, and do not have to activate their effects at the end phase that shuffle them into the deck. (1). If this card would be destroyed by a card effect, you can send one neo-spacian monster from your deck to the graveyard instead. ( You can only use this card’s first effect once per turn). (2) Level 9 and lower “Neos”Fusion monsters can activate their effects as quick effects except their effects that activate at the end phase. (A much needed modern day power up since the deck is so reliant on it.)
I don't think cards like Rainbow Neos, Dragon Master Knight, etc were meant to be summoned by a single person. More like they were meant for tag duels as a force both players could pool the resources of their respective decks to bring out. Like in the anime there are many monsters that are basically a symbol of two decks/duelists working together. It would be cool if you could make a top 10 of that.
I feel like Nebula Neos should have been here with it you can draw many cards and while at it the trap card that allows you to summon Neos Spacian from your hand and graveyard
Glow-Moss has a decent effect as well where whatever the controller’s top card is determined it’s effect: Monster: You can end the battle phase Spell: Direct Attack Trap: Turn to defence position

I'm almost happy Hummingbird made the list since it has always been one of my favourite cards, but at the same time I feel Miracle Contact got completely robbed of its place on this list. xD I guess Hummingbird has -somehow- seen more competitive play than Miracle Contact?

I only got one of these monsters in my deck and when I was dueling a guy with a blue eyes deck I had this card on the field for the longest and by the time I won the duel I got like 11000 LP it was insane that's the most I've ever gotten in a duel and best of all the guy I dueled never hurt me once
Neo Space connector = possible handtrap rip + Verte anaconda = Rainbow Neos Also surprised convert contact, miracle contact, NEXT, Cosmo neos, nebula neos didn’t get mentions. The modern Neo-spacian deck can be deadly. With cards like fusion deployment, keeper of dragon magic etc even more so. I can’t wait to get Kruger but then I worry about the bricks 2x Neos, Yubel, Rainbow Dragon, Neos Wiseman 5 bricks ouch! You really want to go for that verte play ASAP really
Since you’ve done the best dark magician and best Neos cards, I think it would be cool to cover the best cards for the other yugioh protagonists (yusei-stardust dragon/junk monsters, Yuma-utopia cards, etc) It would be curious to see if any of the cards in the archetypes they play saw competitive play in the tcg and I feel like nobody talks about any of the protagonist deck archetypes after gx
It doesn't show it here but #2 Neos Fusion has a big printing error. It doesn't actually say "to the GY" on the card. What it actually says is "by sending those monsters from your hand, deck, or Field, ignoring its summoning conditions" Its actually suppose to say "by sending those monsters from your hand, deck, or Field TO THE GY, ignoring its summoning conditions"

It's basically like Return Zombie, except it has very good support and handtraps are unlimited (rather than banned like the Yata lock).
Tbh, it was never a bad card. It's just that it was a part of an archetype that absolutely crippled its usability for the longest time.

As a kid, it was hard to get with the booster packs at the time. So I had to get it online (with some help 😅)

Brave neos is just a way better option. He has most of the time higher base attack and an effect or grand neos for a bounce and 2.5k or 3k damage if you're using the field spell. Just not a good card in duel links especially when everyone's running cosmic cyclone and most decks are always low on lp after their 1st turn whether it's solemn or cosmic
@Hikari Arts 2.0 or abyssal designator or cybernetic fusion support since its activation is not depend on card on the field so you can always activate it anytime.

Sunavalons have some pretty nice synergy thanks to Healer and being able to make Link Jasmine super easily. They end up fulfilling a key role in Plant goodstuff decks as a result.
Unfortunately if you'd rather play pure the truth is that most of the Aromages suck, with only the two Jasmines, Laurel, Angelica, and Sweet Marjoram being useful.
it technically doesn't increase life points as their main playstyle, it do their own things while giving life points, so they don't count
it's goal isn't to have a million lifepoints, but they gain advantage and activate effects upon gaining lifepoints, so I'd say they're a lifepoint gain strat.
A pure lifepoint gain stall deck would never work and even if it did World's would say no and ban it due to time.

@@nedrostram2360 Air Hummingbird is actually pretty good. People just don't know how to build decks. You gotta keep experimenting with cards and come up with your own formula. I use Air Humming with Red Reboot (pay half my life), Air gains lots of LP. Opponent can't run traps. Or I'll use Popperup to pay LP to draw cards. You gotta keep experimenting. That's what Konami wants you to do. Eventually that one person will come up with some crazy ideas and everyone will follow suit.
Lol! It’s always funny that Air Neos is the only one of the six original Neos Fusions to not be in Duel Links. Just imagine the amount of cheese that would result from that card! Then again, Duel Links is the home of a bunch of cheese concepts.

Random Shower thought, why do the Neos fusions say you need to 'shuffle' the extra deck? Does the card order of the extra deck ever matter?
I think about that a lot. In Duel Links, extra deck cards don’t shuffle, and irl I’m super anal about the specific ordering of my extra deck. I think it maybe says “shuffle” just to keep the wording consistent with other cards?
Maybe they add "shuffle" because it doesn't need polymerization to summon them, maybe they're thinking it'll give so much advantage (even though it's actually harder to summon them), so they give a huge drawback on its fusion monster.
@@Meridianblood yeah no I think we get that. The wording “shuffle” is what we’re talking about. I don’t think the rules ever say that the extra needs to be shuffled? That’s where the confusion lies.
@@Meridianblood They have "shuffle" to distinguish it from returning to the top or bottom of the deck (which are also common effects). "Shuffle" = place randomly into your deck.
Also, there are cards that do random things with the extra deck, so *technically* you're not supposed to organize it (though you can shuffle it if you need to do x thing with random cards in your extra deck).

The best way to use humming bird is to have astral barrier, spirit barrier on the field & imperial custom on the field so you can get loads of life points turn after turn.
If you pull out that combo you might aswell be playing burn or anything else at that point
I used Red Reboot to stun my opponents from using traps. Also, its pays half my life points and goes well with Air Neos so I can OTK my opponents.
Or I use Performal Popperup.

i'm kinda sad to not see Nebula Neos on here, but i understand why. I doubt it ever saw competetive play since you would need to play an acutual Neo Space deck to summon it. Since it's a triple contact fusion, it's not a target for Neos Fusion either
That's the worst thing. Most of the regular Neos cards (except Rainbow Neos and Neos Kluger), are terrible. I guess you could say Grand Neos is okay as well. But the real good cards are the triple contacts. Yet Neos Fusion doesn't work with them, since it requires two fusion materials exactly, and Miracle Contact doesn't search the deck for the materials. It's a raw deal any way you take it.
Edit: I know Rainbow Neos isn't a contact card, I just meant the Fusion cards that list only two as material in general.
@Supreme King Yeah, I understand why they would want to add the restrictions, I just don't like it lol. The Neos Fusions are some of my favourite monsters, but I rarely play them because gathering the materials takes too much effort sometimes.
@Supreme King also, none of nebula neos's effects are once per turn. I made a fun deck once were i managed to summon him mutiple times in a turn (obviously not against competitive decks) using stuff like miracle contact among others
@Supreme King I don't think any card like that would be released any time soon. Or if it was it would be banned immediately because people would abuse it. But we can only dream.

If my opponent has negation monsters on field. I use Dark Ruler No More to get that draw power.

I used to love my water neos deck in DL. Got kog at least 5x with it. Aqua dolphin and it’s fusion were great especially with using atlanteans and even an erreta sinister serpent. With abyss soldier being a faster version of gale lizard or nightmare penguin OTK we’re so easy.
Fingers crossed we get the good water mask change fusions eventually

I think nebula neos should be included, the ability to draw cards according to the number of cards your opponent controls is insane. Not to mention single target negate upon summoning and full field facedown banish upon returning to extra deck
I think the only thing that prevent it from appearing on this list is because it requires 3 monsters to *contact fusion* which makes Neos Fusion cannot target it.

I don't think you quite understand how ridiculous that is. Cause it's literally not possible unless you're using banned or broken cards that'll get banned for looping. As infinitly looping is the only conceivable way you'd gain 92k lp

Well, Hummingbird and Panther share the distinction of having opposite effects than their fusions. While the other 4 have either a similar effect (Scarab) or a slightly more powerful one (Moss, Mole and Dolphin), Hummingbird and Panther have exact opposites;
Air Neos gets more ATK the less LP You have; Hummingbird gives you more LP.
Dark Neos negates the effects of a target; Panther copies the effects to use it as its own.

The even bigger problem with Neos Wiseman is that it WAS a fusion in the anime. I don’t know what possessed them to make it a main deck effect monster but man was that a stupid decision.
Also, fun fact, it was summoned using Super Poly.

Rainbow Neos is also just a tiny bit easier to summon via cards like Future Fusion and Elemental Hero Prisma. In fact, I wonder if Prisma was made with this card in mind (because a prism creates a rainbow)
You unfortunately can’t send rainbow dragon because it says “rainbow dark dragon or rainbow dragon”, so you can only send neos (the card that’s much easier to search to begin with)

NEOS Alius has the added benefit, if successful, to be affected by NEOS Space, making ATK 2400. Another benny for it is a solid card to have first out for XYZ summons, making *4 XYZs using HEROs as fodder as even more viable.
Are we gonna ignore the fact that air neos effect doesn't make sense considering air hummingbirds effect?

Magma neos: a beatsteak/bounce effect
Storm neos: heavy storm/rainbow dragon effect
Neos Fusions need a new fieldspell like Babel that make their effects quick effects. GLow neos, dark neos and gran neos are weak off the fact that they can only play their effects during your turn. Here is an example:
Neo Space 2: New World
"Elemental HERO Neos" and all Fusion Monsters that list "Elemental HERO Neos" as a Fusion Material Monster gain 500 ATK, and do not have to activate their effects at the end phase that shuffle them into the deck. (1). If this card would be destroyed by a card effect, you can send one neo-spacian monster from your deck to the graveyard instead. ( You can only use this card’s first effect once per turn). (2) Level 9 and lower “Neos”Fusion monsters can activate their effects as quick effects except their effects that activate at the end phase. (A much needed modern day power up since the deck is so reliant on it.)
I don't think cards like Rainbow Neos, Dragon Master Knight, etc were meant to be summoned by a single person. More like they were meant for tag duels as a force both players could pool the resources of their respective decks to bring out. Like in the anime there are many monsters that are basically a symbol of two decks/duelists working together. It would be cool if you could make a top 10 of that.

Glow-Moss has a decent effect as well where whatever the controller’s top card is determined it’s effect:
Monster: You can end the battle phase
Spell: Direct Attack
Trap: Turn to defence position
I don't think any of those effects are worth letting your opponent draw a card, which is what Glow Moss does.

I only got one of these monsters in my deck and when I was dueling a guy with a blue eyes deck I had this card on the field for the longest and by the time I won the duel I got like 11000 LP it was insane that's the most I've ever gotten in a duel and best of all the guy I dueled never hurt me once
#9 is the Neospace version of the EHero Wingmen with total damage equal to their attack.
Neo Space connector = possible handtrap rip + Verte anaconda = Rainbow Neos
Also surprised convert contact, miracle contact, NEXT, Cosmo neos, nebula neos didn’t get mentions. The modern Neo-spacian deck can be deadly. With cards like fusion deployment, keeper of dragon magic etc even more so.
I can’t wait to get Kruger but then I worry about the bricks 2x Neos, Yubel, Rainbow Dragon, Neos Wiseman 5 bricks ouch! You really want to go for that verte play ASAP really
Since you’ve done the best dark magician and best Neos cards, I think it would be cool to cover the best cards for the other yugioh protagonists (yusei-stardust dragon/junk monsters, Yuma-utopia cards, etc)

It doesn't show it here but #2 Neos Fusion has a big printing error. It doesn't actually say "to the GY" on the card. What it actually says is "by sending those monsters from your hand, deck, or Field, ignoring its summoning conditions"
