3:14:04 PPGZ also aired in Latin America. I remember thinking at first that it was an actual sequel to the original show with the girls all grown up XD
The audacity of the writers to make that "who could've guessed?!" joke with Sedusa in the SECOND episode. The audience watching for the first time ever would never be able to guess. XD Edit: also the Professor not liking cats is a neat callback to when he got brainwashed by one. XD
My favorite Scene from the PPG was in Telephonies. It's when HIM was on the phone with Big Billy and Billy says, "Uh, he's not here right now, can I take a massage?" It would've been less funny if it was Mojo or Fuzzy on the other line. The reason why I find this scene funny is because Billy just asked HIM, the most evil PPG villain, if he could have a massage.
I'm happy how this long retrospective show rankings started to be more common around here, haven't finished the season 1 part but, cool video fun fact, latin america kept the original dub cast for thw PPG Z anime
@@beam_me_up_scotty69 I don't know about the spanish one, but in the brazilian dub they kept the same vas AND the same tone and style of voice acting for Z
Love makes the world go round is awesome! I admit, I bought one of the PPG music CDs, and a version of that is on it, and it's pretty good. Wish the version sung by the girls was on there, but gotta include the original version sung by the band that wrote it. Also, Buttercup (I'm a Supergirl) by Shonen Knife is the best song on there. So rockin'.
I personally think Curses is a very enjoyable episode just the idea of the Powerpuff Girls swearing while being oblivious about what the word actually means was cute and the giant toilet monster talking like Yosemite Sam was hilarious and the highlight of the episode for me. I mean sure this episode doesn't live up to the genius quality of the Spongebob episode Sailor Mouth but honestly I wasn't expecting it to be I just thought it was a really good episode on it's own.
It's just, how does no one wonder where they heard that word and perhaps consider that little kids do sometimes use words without knowing what they mean? Everyone just assumes that they know exactly what's wrong no matter how many times they claim not to.
Did you skip the entire Power of Four series of episodes? You suddenly jumped from S2 EP 22 to S2 EP 28 in the reboot section, and you mention “Bliss is back” despite never going over her first appearance? Was part of the video cut out? :
1:00:22 that probably makes it worse, she lives in an abusive household where the only form of affection she is ever given is in the form of material goods, she is probably so uncaring and dismissive of others because that’s how her parents always treated her. Having the towns heroes, the Power Puff girls beat her up and tell her she is a spoiled brat further drove her belief that material goods will be the only form of affection she will ever receive as she is the enemy of everyone else and thus this is how she must act. I actually kind of feel sorry for her, if she lived a poorer lifestyle she would be more happy, after all people living in excessive wealth often have higher suicide rates.
I realize on this rewatch that you made a mistake. The original run of the show wasn't cancelled, exactly. The network was all set to make Season 7, but the creators pulled the plug on it, feeling that the show had done all it could do. That was mentioned in the documentary that came with the Season 6 disc from the 10th Anniversary special box set.
Also me after power puff girls season 4 is exactly like me with Dexter's laboratory after season 1 everything was just happening so fast that it blew by my head and I end up vaguely recalling certain episodes from those seasons
The boogie frights episode also featured the song during the fight scene that was "disco night on bald mountain" that was the remix made for Saturday Night Fever... But after a while I guess they lost the rights to use the song and replaced it with a general disco song. I'm having a hard ass time tracking the original scene down but They did use disco night at bald mountain from Saturday night fever. If you don't know what night bald mountain is it's the song in Fantasia with the devil
The lesson I took from Mojo Jonesin' is actually "Don't do drugs", but "Don't talk to strangers" was probably what they expected the kids to get. I mean, Mojo actually wears a trench coat - isn't that supposed to be a reference to the stereotypical drug dealer?
Knowing Craig Mccraken is coming back to do the new Powerpuff Girls reboot makes me happy now we don't have to let the 2016 garbage reboot be the final ending for the girls.
Thank god. I’ll be honest, during this retrospective, I ended up liking parts of the 2016 version way more than I thought I did initially, and it wasn’t completely full of nothing ideas, but overall, it was a big, fat mess without any members of the original team around to reel the new cast in. Still, though, I was utterly flabbergasted at how good Bubbles The Blue ended up being, even when it’s attached to a nothing show, run by a, to put it lightly, not-ideal cast & crew. Overall, it’s a great thing Craig was convinced to work on a brand-spanking new version of the girls, I’m excited to see any old elements of the OG show be reintroduced with an actually proper fanfare, as well as any new ideas that the man has up his sleeve. Hell, I wouldn’t even be upset if he took certain elements from the 2016 version of the PPG and retooled them to be better than they actually were. And who knows? Maybe with a little extra luck, a similar pitch can be put together to make us finally have our hands on Wander Over Yonder Season 3.
@@SprainedSentinel I think this new Powerpuff Girls reboot will also lead to one of the next Scooby Doo movies. They already made an epic crossover for Scooby and Courage the Cowardly Dog and this new reboot being made is the perfect time for Mystery Inc to visit the city of Townsville and team up with the PPG.
2:11:52 Roughing it Up I genuinely thought it was going to be The Rowdyruff Boys coming back again, but for it to happen, the title should have been spelled, "Ruffing It Up"
Nice Ranking. Also, The Part Where The Powerpuff Girls Got Their Powers Taken Away in The Final Episode of Powerpuff Girls Z Really Made Me Cry, Even Though I Don't Care for Powerpuff Girls Z Nowadays
You mentioning that PPGZ tends to bring inanimate objects to life and has them be upset that they’re being underappreciated makes sense to me tbh- inanimate objects coming to life is a pretty common form of yokai, and they tend to be super common characters in kids anime. Heck theres probably a lotta yokai from this series probably have counterparts in yokai watch tbh
Just looking again at Los Dos Mojos. There actually is a cartoon where a character is hit on the head and loses her memory. Then she wakes up the next morning with her memory back, but fakes amnesia (motivation needs context to explain). When she decides to stop faking because she feels she's taking advantage of it, she pretends to hit her head on the water fountain and starts acting like her old self again.
Connor my boy your mission isn’t over you forgot who one special, that is the time, when the teen titans teamed up with the Powerpuff Girls, I have spoken
My childhood! My 90s/2000s collection is so large now! It was a safe space for me! The best memories of seeing it on tv, merch in stores, and seeing it in the theater.
It doesn't really bother me that you didn't go into much detail about them, but still I feel like asking; Where _would_ the Whoopass Stew + What A Cartoon shorts, the movie + its early test sequence, the 2016 series' shorts, and "TTG v PPG" rank?
Honestly... it feels like Miitopia where sure friendship is the key to bringing closer to show how much we care and have positivity, but any negativity can occur each other which is... not fun...
This makes me think that Conner would have liked My little pony. No joke. some of the things he likes to see in this show reminds me heavily of friendship is magic. it even shares lauren faust and a few of the creators behind the original. In fact as he was going over some of these episodes I felt like there is a lot of similarities.Which makes sense seeing as it shares a lot of the same talent. ( I would actually like to see if he thinks the curse of the original creator leaving hurt MLP the way it hurt PPG or Dexter's lab. ) I don't know if he would ever do it though. 9 seasons, plus spin offs, plus movies. and he might have to clarify that he would only be doing generation 4, because hasbro cartoons have generations like doctor Who.
"I see a funny cartoon in your future" was actually a homage to the old rocky and Bullwinkle cartoons. I watched this episode with my dad as a kid and he really liked it
4:15:00 did this come out of nowhere to where the show was shuffled with the episodes and the 4th Powerpuff girls showed up out of nowhere? I don't even remember him talking about it so I'm hoping it's corrected
This Powerpuff Girls Z villain team up of the Amoeba Boys and Mojo does look like it would be as much a train wreck as the CN Powerpuff Girls birthday bash episode.
1:44:17: This episode never aired in the USA, but it was aired on YTV Where I live, for Canadian broadcasting, this show aired on YTV, but would later air on Teletoon as part of it's "Teletoon Retro" block.
As far as Cat Man Do goes, yes, cats sleep in their owner's beds, but they usually have to share them. The owners don't usually sleep outside. And most owners do not clean their cats - and I don't think any cat would take too kindly to an owner licking them. They wash themselves because they like the way it feels.
Out of all the childhood episodes I've watched in any show, Speed Demon is the only one that not only absolutely TERRIFIED me as a little kid, but also gave me actual nightmares of it! Courage the Cowardly Dog ain't got nothing on this! And man, what is up with these innuendos in this show? What is this, Rocko's Modern Life?
I honestly LOVED the gnome episode! Though I honestly just fell in love with "Townsville's Going Downsville", ahaha. I actually thought that was the final ep, but it wasn't, LOL. I definitely watched it on Hulu as well, aside from CN when it was still big. :P I saw the Christmas ep on Hulu! I think it may had been labled under its own deal, but I don't remember because it was definitely there.
I'm unfortunately cursed with being a PPG super fan so... if you might allow me to regale you with information about the wider PPG multiverse I'd be blessed. If you ever in the future are conisdering a sequal episode there are about 7 different lines of comics to go with all this ;-) DC comics did one long lineup but some stuff from that era instead got published in CN action pack and CN Blockparty, including four very strange comics following continued antics from the Rowdyruff Boys. This mostly coincided with the runtime of the original and interestingly enough shows that Bullet is a canon foreigner, first appearing in these comics with a story fairly similar to her introduction in the show. These comics tended to be if anything generally a little sillier than the main show. For example having a whole comic about blossom losing her bow and another one revealing that one of the Rowdyruffs additional weakness is salt because they are partially made of snails. IDW published material around 2013-2015 I think? One line was a hypothetical continuation of the show with everyone feeling very in character. It was known for featuring for example the return of some long neglected characters such as the Boogie Man and Steve the Monster, as well as a very interesting plot based around HIM and an overarching narrative regarding Mojo Pulling off a very long term scheme. They then published two crossover comics one featuring the Powerpuff Girls as primary protagonists and another where they appear as CN regulars in a more standard lineup. Then with the release of the 2016 show they produced some comics to follow along with that production as well. Of special note is their seperate series Powerpuff Girls The Time Tie, which despite stemming from PPG 2016 I found to actually be of very high quality. Then of course there is the PPGZ Manga which surprisingly is not at all a direct adaptation of the anime in paper form but another piece of spinoff media with it's own unique stories. Of special note here is a recurring duo of mischievous andriods named Alpha and Beta who are unique to this series, though I'd love to see them again some day. This of course isn't even getting into the obscure world of PPG choose your own adventure books which also include some unique and very strange plots such as one wherein buttercup gets an ''evil'' clone in Not Another Buttercup. I have to wonder if this books production might be responsible for the Rowdyruffs since it was a very early product made before their original episode. EDIT: And of course there are more animations to see if one bothers with Whoopass Stew, Crime 101 and Meat Fuzzy Lumpkins as well as as you said the PPG 2016 shorts. TLDR, if you ever want to revisit, I even after all you covered, I still wouldn't worry about running out of coverage. :-)
I personally love seasons 5 and 6 of the original run. The weird awkward humor present in those episodes was probably only made to make the writers laugh but I got a kick out of it too. Edit: You completely missed the point of “I See A Funny Cartoon In Your Future”! It’s a Rocky and Bullwinkle parody right down to the lack of background music, mid-way cliffhanger and the constant bad puns. The episode even makes fun of itself like the line where the Major calls the episode “bad television”. Edit 2: Bob Boyle wasn’t the person who shipped himself with Blossom, it was Jake Goldman! One of the main writers on that poor excuse for a reboot.
Exactly! Stuff like the mayor's free weekend minutes, the pickle patch, the "find out next time", the newspaper headlines, the recurring instance of "again", and that they mentioned EBAY. It's my favorite episode. "Oh no. It's the mayor of Townsville. the one person who SHOULD'VE read the newspaper today, but didn't."
I absolutely loved the “terrorist” pun. The dead silence after the gag makes it even funnier. The dead relative joke is great too. “OWWWW MY TAILBONE!!!!”
If you like action , kid s issues and comedy then you should rank every episode of the show called : Codename Kids Next Door you ve gonna love it for sure
Him is my favorite Villan because the psychological attacks are always interesting and teach kids about real life problems and how to overcome them I also like how his voice goes fro, really calm and girllike to like angry and demonic in seconds although the reboot versions different because with the exception of the bliss series the attacks are more about being absurdly crazy and random, although I love that chaos dimension episode especially the leprechaun coffee mug that was great

Fun fact: the voice actress for Blossom in the 2016 reboot also voiced Polly in Amphibia
Oooh! Noice
Really? Well, good to know that she went on to bigger, better projects.
Guess she just likes garbage shows, eh?
I knew that voice sounded familiar
I just searched for this exact topic a couple days ago. Thanks in advance for putting this out into the universe!
Watched the whole thing yesterday, sucks that you had to reupload it, great stuff!
Looks like you're taking LS Mark's approach on ranking episodes of cartoons. I love it.
I'm happy how this long retrospective show rankings started to be more common around here, haven't finished the season 1 part but, cool video
fun fact, latin america kept the original dub cast for thw PPG Z anime
did they change the way they did the voices at all?
@@beam_me_up_scotty69 I don't know about the spanish one, but in the brazilian dub they kept the same vas AND the same tone and style of voice acting for Z
question.. where can i watch all the episodes? *and specials*

So rockin'.
My guy Conner is soo versatile, started off with like pbg or gillie the kid style videos, then LS mark and more recently caddicarus style, I love it
I personally think Curses is a very enjoyable episode just the idea of the Powerpuff Girls swearing while being oblivious about what the word actually means was cute and the giant toilet monster talking like Yosemite Sam was hilarious and the highlight of the episode for me.
I love these every episode ranked videos .
Great video loved it
Bro gave us a feast of a video, great job waffle man ✌️
Did you skip the entire Power of Four series of episodes? You suddenly jumped from S2 EP 22 to S2 EP 28 in the reboot section, and you mention “Bliss is back” despite never going over her first appearance? Was part of the video cut out? :
Yeah I noticed that too
What did happen to that part?
I love how the cat episode is literally the plot of Christine a John Carpenter horror movie about a possessed car
Watched The Entire Video Today, Enjoyed It Very Well! Buttercup Is My Favorite Powerpuff Girl!
2:11:52 Roughing it Up
I genuinely thought it was going to be The Rowdyruff Boys coming back again, but for it to happen, the title should have been spelled, "Ruffing It Up"
Nice Ranking.
4:30 "And so with their lightning fast speed and their knowledge of where to get giant jars,"
Okay, that gave me a chuckle.
They must have got it from the “giant jar store”

The cockroach one made me gag and puke when I was a kid and seeing the cockroaches crawling out of everything in the apartment made my skin crawl.
The Fuzzy Lumpkins first episode was actually the Cartoon Cartoons episode before PPG became an official show
Don't you mean the first short of Powerpuff Girls? Meat Fuzzy Lumpkins isn't the only short from World Premier Toons, Crime 101 is the second short.
Y’know, I’ve never heard someone be so positive about the reboot

It doesn't really bother me that you didn't go into much detail about them, but still I feel like asking; Where _would_ the Whoopass Stew + What A Cartoon shorts, the movie + its early test sequence, the 2016 series' shorts, and "TTG v PPG" rank?
He seems afraid to watch TTG v PPG.
Honestly... it feels like Miitopia where sure friendship is the key to bringing closer to show how much we care and have positivity, but any negativity can occur each other which is... not fun...
1:49:14 fun fact : the voice actor of bubbles Tara strong also voiced timmy Turner which is why the voice sounds similar
I like The 2016 Versions Of the Powerpuff girls
Me too I grew up with it and watched a lot of clips of it on RUclips when I was little. I might’ve seen it on tv a few times too
This makes me think that Conner would have liked My little pony. No joke. some of the things he likes to see in this show reminds me heavily of friendship is magic. it even shares lauren faust and a few of the creators behind the original.

This Powerpuff Girls Z villain team up of the Amoeba Boys and Mojo does look like it would be as much a train wreck as the CN Powerpuff Girls birthday bash episode.
Whoa cool assortment of background music I knew every song.
1:44:17: This episode never aired in the USA, but it was aired on YTV Where I live, for Canadian broadcasting, this show aired on YTV, but would later air on Teletoon as part of it's "Teletoon Retro" block.
I’m hoping Craig McCracken is serious about bringing back the Powerpuff Girls.

Buttercup refused to take a bath so much she stunk so bad the townspeople couldn't stand it
Though I’m a teenanger I loved the original powderpuff girls but was honestly to scared to watch the episodes with HIM in them when I was younger
Thanks for not mentioning the twerking in Painbow. Nobody wants to remember that again.
Didint really scare me but yeah defenitly scary i get the message is pretty freaking scary so yeah scary message taking seriously
Major Man is very much like a 180 polar opposite of the contrarian from "Word Girl" with a somewhat Metroman complex.
4:42:23 I don’t know why there’s a leprechaun coffee cup there or why he’s related to the plot of that episode but I love him
Blossom, Buttercup, Bubbles, Bunny, Bullet, Bliss. At least they're consistent
I honestly LOVED the gnome episode! Though I honestly just fell in love with "Townsville's Going Downsville", ahaha. I actually thought that was the final ep, but it wasn't, LOL.
I definitely watched it on Hulu as well, aside from CN when it was still big. :P
I saw the Christmas ep on Hulu! I think it may had been labled under its own deal, but I don't remember because it was definitely there.
I didn't like Ace's singing voice
I'm unfortunately cursed with being a PPG super fan so... if you might allow me to regale you with information about the wider PPG multiverse I'd be blessed.
If you ever in the future are conisdering a sequal episode there are about 7 different lines of comics to go with all this ;-)
DC comics did one long lineup but some stuff from that era instead got published in CN action pack and CN Blockparty, including four very strange comics following continued antics from the Rowdyruff Boys.
1:11:57 This episode implies the tooth fairy is actually real and that is really weird.
Nah, Santa is real as well, so no biggie.
Honestly considering what we know is real in the Powerpuff girls universe a tooth fairy isn't even that strange
Lol i was watching this video, went to sleep and when i woke up to finish it, it was gone!!
