Thank you so much for this video! I started doing POD designs a couple weeks ago, and yesterday I started feeling discouraged because I didn't know where to find good free images! This video has been super super helpful! You're awesome! Keep up the good work! Also, your voice is super calming.
I appreciate that thank you! I'm working with my wifey on a new channel that will have a bazillion public domain images shortly: ruclips.net/channel/UC9eXZ6Ta2B9BBC8JfH-ozXw
You mentioned patent images as a source. You are correct that the images are created into the public domain and even if patents are created they eventually expire. What you have to watch out for is that the application for the patent might be copyrighted and, if so, you can't use that image without the copyright owner's consent.
I saw that giraffe and immediately thought of a design of a giraffe that blows bubble gum. So that's how easy it can be🙏 Thank you for this worthy information 🙌

Very helpful video. I have so many mixed feelings about using someone else's work (thinking about public domain images from rawpixel for example), I feel like it's too easy to be allowed... And I feel kinda guilty about doing it even though I know it's legal...
I pulled alot from that last site. I did notice though, some became a bit fuzzy, when I tried working with these in my design idea. Still have some confusion on how best to work with these things on an editing /design platform. More to learn...
Hello 1 month back I create a design on dead trademark but that time I don't now know I know that and I got 5 sales on them so it's safe to create a design on dead trademark.
Thank you. So many of the results that come up when I google "free" images are just "royalty-free" images, which often still require an initial purchase. Finding images that are FREE-free has been tricky, so I appreciate this video, and I'll be checking out the one you did already, too.
Perfect, thanks this is just what i been looking for but didnt know it kind of deal, finding resource, inspiration online can take you off your goal and end up wasting so much time getting side tracked. Really well explained to, around settings, public domain, high res etc, youre doing a great thing here. Thank you.

Hello! I use VidIQ (the free version) - I find keywords don't really help much, it is mostly topic, thumbnail and title (in that order). Hope that helps!
I'm on zazzle and was informed today that a thumbs up smiley face I had used from pixabay, which is a free image source site, had to be removed because of a complaint from the image poster.
Yes it is weird - smiley faces are apparently trademarked (at least some of them). That's the downside to these POD sites - anyone can file a claim and sometimes the site just pulls your design (or sometimes it is a legitimate infringement). Tough to tell. Thank you for the head's up!
@@zenwatercooler Then they shouldn't be putting it on the free site in the first place. It makes no sense. If it is copyrighted by them then that's their right. Make that clear. Period.
@@blackspider2274 If you want to use any of their images you need to make significant changes to the images, otherwise you can not use it to make direct profit from it. I think they do explain it in the terms of use. Most royalty free sites are like that. They should make it clearer though.

This is a great video. I have a question.... Is like to make more t-shirts but I don't have Adobe premiere pro (no money, lol) and I think the free trial of canva is passed, can you make a vid or give me suggestions for a program that has a transparent feature? Please and thank you.
I was looking on raw pixel and it says “You can’t use our images for prints or merchandise for sale without adding considerable artistic value. This means you can only include our images in merchandise for sale if they: have been significantly changed to such a degree that they constitute new works.” So, does that mean I can’t use the image on a shirt that I plan to sell?
Thank you so much I have enjoyed the few videos of yours I 've seen. Thank you for these resources. How do you add pics to your creative boards in rawpixel do you know?
I am newbie for pod business, because I used to upload my design to microstock site...how does it work in pod like spreadshirt, if I got order from my design? Do spreadshirt taking care all of production, and do we pay in advance for our tshirt design to be produced?
If they are public domain, you can use them as is. (But so can anyone else). I usually try to modify them to fit in with my art style but you don’t have to.
Regarding pixabay as mentioned in your last video (and similar sites like pexels/unsplash), whilst I know they say the images are free, i’m always a bit nervous as you don’t know who actually uploaded the image... for example, I could steal some images from an amazing photographers website and then just upload them to pixabay without them knowing... I have certainly seen some images on pixabay that I am certain shouldn’t be used by others... is there a way to be 1000% sure :p
I use pixabay, but not just straight without altering. I change colors, or add it to a bigger design I'm working on, or completely morph it to something else. That way even if the image was uploaded to pixabay by someone nepharious, the image I ultimately produce is something totally new.
What Melissa said. Totally agree, couldn't have said it better myself. I don't just take one public domain image and upload it - I add something (words, change the design, merge, distort, etc) and make it "art".
@@zenwatercooler oh ofcourse... I do that too (i get no enjoyment in just using someone elses image as it is)... I still think it’s a risk though if you don’t know if the image is 100% free to use

hi i have use vectors and images on publicdomain.org, then i posted it to my two platforms, one has hold my design and under review the other one have removed my account., i wonder why, i told them all my images that im using are from public domains site.
Hi Zen... Thanks for the info realy informative.. A quick question for you... On the FREE SVG site i tried downloading an image, but could not... what is the svg software you mentioned ??
Sorry Zen i was a bit misleading... I can download and save an image (cat for example) but only as a web page but if i want to save it as a png or jpeg i cannot i am using firefox on my laptop... i was hoping to be able to manipulate the image using canva or photopea for my POD business... Any advice would be most helpful
Ah yes got it. Yes I use Mozilla too. Saving the file as webpage is saving it as an SVG file (a vector). I would recommend downloading Inkscape - it is free, easy to use and you just open up the vector and then export as PNG. You can do online SVG to PNG as well (just google SVG to PNG)
Hi sir i want to do stickers do i need to edit the picture i download? If i download images in public domaine without editing it would i get copyright strike?
You might - but if you got the strike, it would be because the image might be an exact copy of the same public domain image that someone else uploaded. I would recommend modifying the image somehow (add a background, crop, flip, filter, etc.)
Yes anything on Rawpixel that is public domain, that means that there is no copyright restrictions. I personally recommend making art based on the designs (and not just using them as is) but technically public domain means you own them, I own them... they are in the public.
It depends - if you and me upload the exact same public domain image to Redbubble, then whoever uploaded it first could lodge a copyright complaint (and Redbubble might take down the second image). So the issue would not be that the image is public domain, but rather that the 3rd party site has a rule against duplication of designs. I always recommend modifying your public domain image in some way (add text, change color, etc) to make it original enough so that you don't risk a strike.
It's a good question. I will never suggest just taking all the designs on these public domain sites and just uploading them as is. I would suggest making changes/additions to the design. Add a background. Change the color. Add text. Flip it, rotate it, merge two designs together. Create a unique piece of art! That way no one can say you copied. It might be close to another design, but that's OK.
