Disney manipulates their rides with the fast lane. You pay extra on top of park admission to not wait in the regular line. So the line could be short but you wait for the fast lane to be empty.

I am totally on your side. Disney doesn’t have any funding to expand the domestic parks, let alone maintaining them to their previously high standards. Furthermore, Disney doesn’t know what their guests want to receive as a guest of their parks. The price of admission, crowd wait times, merchandise prices and food costs are absolutely out of reach for the average family. Annual trips to Disney are now a thing of the past. A family trip to Europe costs les than the same trip to WDW.

As a Disney stockholder, today's horrible stock price is still 10 times what I paid per share, so I'm still doing okay. As for which parks to invest the money in? Yes, overseas is where to spend the money because those 4 parks are under performing and have the most potential for growth. A lot of businesses have discovered they can make more investing overseas rather than in the U.S. Have you looked at the inventory at a Toyota or Honda dealer in the last 18 months? Almost no new cars because Toyota and Honda discovered they can make more on their investment selling those cars in places other than the U.S. and Canada. . Best part, many of those cars are built here in the U.S.

Don, the main reason that they’re investing in the foreign parks is because it’s not all their money that they have to invest you see with OLC in Japan they foot 100% of the expansion bill with Shanghai and Hong Kong. I think Disney pays less than half of the investiture and the CCP pays the remaining 50% plus. I believe they get tax grants for the expansion in France so the main reason Disney is investing elsewhere is because it’s not all their money that they’re investing. They say they’re investing 80 billion but I guarantee half of that 80 billion expenditure is not their money. Also, the parks and experiences division of the company includes the cruise line and Disney is spending gobs of money there so a huge chunk of the 80 billion is going to go towards new ships a new islands, as you pointed out, Disney is foolish and they are ceeding marketshare to Universal. Disney leadership is beyond stupid.

Maintenance problems daily in the parks concern me. One major attraction is usually down for part of a day. • @ChattyOldLady
    @ChattyOldLady 11 месяцев назад +9

I do think Disney has lost its direction. I understand they see untapped revenue in other countries. In Anaheim they’re constrained by lack of land to expand much. It does seem FL gets a lot more than CA but they’ve gotten too big. They have made some transactional decisions that didn’t include the imagination that was the hallmark of Walt Disney. They just bought up a bunch of others IP and didn’t focus on their own “magic”. We shall see. The ship is definitely listing now and Iger has brought nothing fresh. He is just plugging holes and betting on perhaps not the best future ideas. Home entertainment has definitely changed dramatically and he’s betting streaming is the future…but Disney wasn’t innovative in that nor are they showing signs of it. Walt was a visionary. That’s gone. Till they bring that back, I see a gloomy future for the big D.

Iger reversed some of the Chapek money-grabbing, but the damage to the brand was already done. So really with their extreme greediness, the economy in the toilet, and the onset of Universal's innovation, they may have inadvertently solved their 'crowd' problem.

The reason for this is two-fold. International Disney parks are not as successful from a financial perspective as the U.S. parks. Therefore Disney will prioritize investment in those parks in hopes of making up for the losses and hopefully bring new customers in (though this is never guaranteed). This results in apathy for the US parks because Disney knows they will continue to make profit regardless of the state that they are in so there's less concern (in Disney's mind) to put more investment in them.

You have to ask yourself, when did Disney start going downhill?
Was it at the start of COVID?
When they decided to actively encourage Children to participate in the LGBTQ+++ movement?
When they decided to raise Rates and state that they only wanted legacy customers that knows for sure that they will pay any price just to go every year?
Could it be because Inflation is so high that nobody can afford to go?
    Or...
Is it all of the above?
People are abandoning Disney en mass because of one of those issues above. Disney is money hungry and quit caring about their customers, and their customers even their legacy customers see it. When a Company goes against what their customers would like they will lose them and in many cases forever.

If Disney doesn’t dump the jerks making the horrible decisions that get paid a fortune maybe Universal can buy them. The new park Universal is building looks amazing and there are plenty of new hotels going in to hurt Disneys overpriced hotels too. I can’t wait to go spend a week at Universal when it opens.

Up until 1996, we loved visiting Disney properties. Then they started to become politically correct by renaming properties. This included renaming Dixie landings and a few other areas in the resort. Then they decided to change Pirates of the Carribean and Splash Mountain. These changes appeal to the evolving shallow members of the woke culture. Disney has lost its mojo. It’s talent and creativity seem to be only a memory. And, now there's talk about people defecating on rides at both US parks. That had to be a editorial that the parks stink.

Disney understands that most people are not able to travel to Tokyo and see what a real Disney park looks like. If more people visited Tokyo Disney you will realize that sad pathetic state our parks in north america are. The only way disney will realize that they mistakes is by not spending money at disney.

Oh please. Woke is the opposite of the oppression being foisted on closed minded people who prefer the 1950’s. Can’t stand to see equality of minorities who are different from the Leave it to Beaver folks or freedom of religious choice or even education. Absurd. Sadly, it’s taken hold through an awful lot of dishonest media, politicians and frankly a public that’s not intellectually curious and plain mean and fearful. Whatever. Live in that mean little world. I’ve given up. What destroyed the company was a streaming product that didn’t have enough decent content, a changing tv landscape, betting too heavily on it’s purchased IP to float them and a true lack of the spirit that made the company successful to begin with, resting on tired ideas and prioritizing profit over genuine creativity. It worked for a bit but the company lost track of what made it work to begin with. Walt’s dreams didn’t begin with a pure profit motive. That’s the problem with this whole ugly world now. Money over all and those who manage to sell anger and fear.

@@Viper-jk2pf Maybe to you, it is. Wokeism, is the description applied, and it’s immediate understood, is it not? It’s got less to do with corporate greed, than it does pushing an ideology on the world. If Disney *really* cared about money, why wouldn’t they bend over backwards, filling the recent FLOPS they’ve had in movies, and television, with fan service, and raking in *boatloads* of cash, buddy? Disney, InBev and virtually ever other major corporation, bought into ESG, which is, and has been revealing itself to be a massive SCAM. Those profiting? BlackRock, Vanguard and State Street.

This is such a ridiculous outlook and it is clear that you are rather uneducated in how the Disney Parks work. Disney Hong Kong, Tokyo Disney, and Disney Shanghai are ALL owned by other companies. Disney owns less than 50% of all of those parks. Other than Disneyland Paris, the international parks have additional resources for funds to afford upgrades to parks. Furthermore, Disney needs to put money into the other parks as they are so small with half the amount of attractions.

Disney’s failing is really simple to explain - they’ve left Walt’s vision behind. The idea of wholesome family entertainment that told stories of timeless principles of love and overcoming evil are long gone. In its place are celebration of the villains from the movies.
