Watching this in 2023 just to feel something. I miss Rick so much. He does more coaching every minute in this game than Kenny P does in a whole game. You can just see the passion. Man.
I wish Louisville still played an exhibition game or two to begin the season at Freedom Hall. But that just can't happen. This last game at Freedom Hall was too magical and memorable for Louisville to ever play there again, even if it is just an exhibition game. It had to be the final game there. What a way to close the doors.
Ville24 I had season tickets for 27 years in Freedom Hall. My first year was 1984-85. Milt Wagner broke his foot and I was sure it was my fault! Because he red shirted that year the team was amazing the next season, and won the NCAA Tournament. Many exciting times in Freedom Hall and some heartbreaks. Griff said,” People don’t realize it. But they’re going to miss games here.” And I do. There was a “we are all one” feeling at Freedom Hall that is just not there at the YUM Center. But, we had a perfect exit from our home. Beating the #1 team in the country. It was magical.
I miss the smell as strange as that sounds. This was my only season having season tickets as a student. The carmel corn smell, very syrup like, always lingered in the concourse. So strong and very much missed. One of the few places on earth that a smell evoked so much good emotion.
My God, what a place to watch a college basketball game. Not a bad seat in the building. The old lady gave us one to remember for the rest of our lives. I will always be fond of her. That atmosphere was the best that I have ever seen and it was just a regular season game. But man, was it ever special. I will remember it til' my dying days. And Kyle Kuric will go down as a legend in Louisville basketball. Go Cards!
Lifelong Louisville fan, wish so bad I could have been there. Nearly got emotional at the end. I grew up in Freedom Hall. Some of my fondest childhood memories are me and my Dad watching the Cards there. 2nd greatest moment in my Louisville fandom, only the 2013 championship has been able to top it.
We were so deliriously happy that day I forgot to cry. AFTER the game I realized we had just played our last game in Freedom Hall. But what a glorious game it had been!
The 2001 Tennessee game was the first Louisville game I went to as a kid, afterwards ppl were running and jumping around the halls everyone was going crazy,it was nuts.ive never been around that many ppl losing there minds at a game
I know this moment was all about the Cardinals but UK had a history there as well. Won a national title on that floor in 1958. Used to play at least one game a year there as a home away from home. When the UK-Indiana game was played on neutral site Freedom Hall served as the Kentucky venue along with the RCA dome in Indy. Also last but not least Freedom Hall was the home of the ABA Kentucky Colonels from 1967-1976. They won the 1975 ABA Championship with Artis Gilmore and Kentucky alums Dan Issel and Louie Dampier. One of the great basketball arenas of all time.
Sxllout exactly like exxxxxxcuse me sir... but than I thought how great was this for Kuric maybe this was his break out game bc we KNOW what he became for Louisville
The bit about cal wanting to play 3 games a year in Freedom Hall is even funnier now. 7 years removed and uk doesn't even play that 1 game a year at Freedom Hall anymore. Big blew nation couldn't even put 14,000 in that 19,000 seat arena so they just stopped. I like how when something doesn't go their way they just stop doing it rather than improve upon it or fix it. Use erroneous numbers trying to say that 1/2 of the city of Louisville is comprised of uk fans, fail to fill arena in Louisville past 3/4 full, cancel games. What? IU beat us? Cancel the series! WKU football not only beat us back to back but they have solidified themselves as the 2nd best program in the state? Cancel the series?

Greg Millner yeah I loved that smell
That smell was heaven.
Greg Millner Exactly! I’m only 14 but I remember that smell perfectly and the great emotion that came from it
Yea remember that smell, enjoyed watching games there. Not a bad seat
That smell + a chill in the air = Louisville Basketball
That smell + sweltering heat = Kentucky State Fair
Yall had to be there. It was the craziest feeling ever...

I can gladly say I was there for the game, and holy hell the place was about to lose its roof it was so loud.
It was truly amazing. The sound was incredible.
Kyle Kuric made sure to blow the roof off the building for the last game at Freedom Hall.
This game is second only to the 13’ nat championship game to me. Just magical.
We were so deliriously happy that day I forgot to cry. AFTER the game I realized we had just played our last game in Freedom Hall.
But what a glorious game it had been!
Was there, it was jumpin, especially when Kuric went off
This was the loudest I've ever heard Freedom Hall. 2nd was Tennessee in 2001. What a great way to go out.
The 2001 Tennessee game was the first Louisville game I went to as a kid, afterwards ppl were running and jumping around the halls everyone was going crazy,it was nuts.ive never been around that many ppl losing there minds at a game
So glad that I can now add this to my collection! Thank you! Loved watching Kuric's coming out party!
LOUISVILLE for life!!!!

This was awesome. I can't believe that was 4 years ago when Kuric opened up.

This was the game that Kyle kyric came alive, and sent out freedom hall and #1 cuse in style
This brings back so many amazing memories. Thank you, sir
he said Kyle kuric wasn't a good shooter....
Well, to be fair... He did airball one. But still... What a storybook 2nd half in a storybook game. Kuric was the man!
Sxllout exactly like exxxxxxcuse me sir... but than I thought how great was this for Kuric maybe this was his break out game bc we KNOW what he became for Louisville

My favorite game as a Louisville fan happiest day watching this game right here
Intro gives me chills
Kuric said "Let me shut this place down"
1:35:07 is the single greatest moment in Freedom Hall history
I dunno, 1:42:30 wasn’t too bad either
11 years today
What a way to go out.
10 years already seems like it was yesterday
I own this game on DVD.
Thank you!!!!!
N guess what, the Louisville Cardinals game vs Tennessee at Freedom Hall was absolutely insane and wild. Loudest Freedom Hall has ever been.
My dad went to that game what a game
Go Cards!

Is Freedom Hall still up? The last time I saw a game played there is when Notre Dame played there the following year.
Yeah. Bellarmine plays there now.
Wtf Kansas State was #5? I don't remember them ever being that good...
Craig Jones right... I'm a duke fan and I remember those days...
