Every scene eventually gets ruined by what you call "the wrong kind of people." Haight-Ashbury, Rocky Horror, Raves, and Conventions are only the most obvious examples. The thing to do is to get out of the scene before it becomes toxic and find something else that hasn't gone to hell yet.
