    Damn this guy's good!
    Just passed mine and I was sweating and out of breath just manually moving the bike, I was so wobbly moving it. Still passed with no minors.
    Awesome video I hope it helps others like it did for me.

      Crispin Owen Excellent! Well done Owen. Good luck with the Mod 2. I found the Mod 2 far easier as it's more natural out on the road. Plus the examiners aren't looking to fail you. They just wanna make sure you're being safe and aware.

    Interesting regarding the figure 8 how you can ride past the yellow slalom cone? That would be a fail here. :-)
    Here in Northern Ireland a learner must pass between the figure 8 cones and the last slalom cone. (Not only that but there is a set width as well as distance after the fig 8 cones of only a few metres.
    This particular exercise looks a lot easier in the UK.

    • @ChewieOnTwoWheels
      @ChewieOnTwoWheels  9 лет назад +2

      learn2rideVIDEOS I did double check this with both my instructor and examiner. And yes the Enfield Test Centre allows you to pass on the outside of the last yellow cone. Some other test centres within the UK might be more strict on this. To be honest there's plenty of space within the blue cones to do the figure of 8 but my instructor advised me to use the space available. I've noticed some other slight differences between the UK and Ireland tests from watching your great videos. :-)

    • @learn2rideVIDEOS
      @learn2rideVIDEOS 9 лет назад

      Interesting and thanks mate. I see the swerve in the UK is more challenging- the distance looks much shorter. How did you find the test?

    • @ChewieOnTwoWheels
      @ChewieOnTwoWheels  9 лет назад

      I was much more anxious about the Mod 1 than the Mod 2. But practising within the test-centre was a massive confidence boost. And the examiner was very laid back and friendly. I aced the test except for the Swerve test which I had to do a second time because first time was slightly under the 50kph.

    • @learn2rideVIDEOS
      @learn2rideVIDEOS 9 лет назад

      That's awesome to hear and I'm made up for you. I take it you passed? :-)

    • @ChewieOnTwoWheels
      @ChewieOnTwoWheels  9 лет назад +2

      learn2rideVIDEOS Yep, passed the Mod 1 first time with 1 minor (having to repeat the swerve) and then passed the Mod 2 the same day again with 1 minor (late cancelation of indicators)
      I then went out and bought a BMW F800s straight away and have since upgraded to a Triumph Tiger 800.
      I've said it before but yours and Roadcraft Nottingham's training videos were a massive help before I started my 5 day DAS course.

    I don't think the bike moving part at the begiining is right...I did a mod 1 at Enfield and the bike had to be reversed out of the bay in to the second bay ie. walking the bike backwards and not how this is showing it?

    • @arjis4486
      @arjis4486 9 лет назад

      +Conrad Mason nope. apparently not, you can do however you want(within reason). I'm being taught that method because of height issues. My instructor clarified it that you may move the bike however you prefer it as long as you do your observation and not hit the cone.

    • @conradmason87
      @conradmason87 9 лет назад

      That's a new one on me I'll check it with my instructor and get back to you not that I'm disputing what you say I'd just like a second opinion he's away currently so I'll try and leave a reply soon as thanks for your interesting reply.

    • @arjis4486
      @arjis4486 9 лет назад

      +Conrad Mason fair enough. it's actually being taught for quite awhile now, county rider training has a mod1 video tut on here which also teaches the same technique. Though my fellow trainee, he only does the reverse manoeuvre which makes me jealous but being 5'4 57kg against a 200kg bandit, I struggle to do just that. Although I did the manoeuvres on a slight slope it's tiring. I'll get a definitive answer soon though as I'll be doing the test this weekend.

    • @conradmason87
      @conradmason87 9 лет назад

      I don't doubt it... maybe my instructor's behind the times... as I said I'll have a word with him when I see him next. All the best for the test and thanks for the replies.

      @arjis4486 9 лет назад +1

      Conrad Mason passed my test using the manoeuvre. So glad! I nearly dropped my foot in the figure of 8 but I just sped up a bit to pick myself up :D

  • @ajmanmc
    @ajmanmc 9 лет назад

    Hey, you see when you was doing the slalom and figure of 8 was you just using clutch or combined with gas?

    • @ChewieOnTwoWheels
      @ChewieOnTwoWheels  9 лет назад +1

      AJ NGUYEN I can only tell you what I did: Once the bike is rolling I needed little to no throttle (on a 600cc bike). The power of the engine from feathering out the clutch kept me rolling. You can apply a slight bit of throttle if you think you're going too slow to maintain your balance, but clutch control is the key thing on these slow speed tests.

    I'm 21, passed my CBT last year. I have a honda 125, would it be possible to do straight a2 license or you have to go through a1 first.

    • @ChewieOnTwoWheels
      @ChewieOnTwoWheels  9 лет назад

      chanothebest Everything you need to know about the licenses can be found here: www.gov.uk/ride-motorcycle-moped/bike-categories-ages-and-licence-requirements
      At your age you need to have the A2 license for a minimum of 2 years then you can apply for a Progressive Access to unrestricted motorcycles.

    I have my mod 1 in two weeks and my figure of eights aren't too bad but my instructor said you can't pass behind the yellow cones while doing it. Could you clarify the rules if you know them? Thanks

    • @ChewieOnTwoWheels
      @ChewieOnTwoWheels  5 лет назад

      You'll notice I've responded to other comments about that. The figure of 8 boundaries are at the discretion of each test centre. My test centre allowed to go outside the yellow cones during the figure of 8. Others insist you stay inside. Check with your instructor. If they say stay inside stay inside just to be safe.
