    Can you link me where to buy the push to talk system. Thanks

    Re the Bluetooth coms, I have found them to be troublesome where a 3rd person wants to link up with 2 other riders, plus their range is very limited. Might be a good idea to talk about sat phones, typical costs and the different systems ie Inmarsat vs Thuraya vs Iridium.

    I used old school 29mhz communicators back in the late 80s. Same thing but they were smaller and on occasion would pick up a baby monitor or cordless phone conversation here and there 😂 They had ear phones you actually used to talk through your ear canal and a single ear phone you install like from a walkman to hear with

    I'm interested to know why you cut the lead from the speaker mic, you mentioned you paired it with the radio, is that Bluetooth pairing?

      The UH076 radios use a weird plug - it's a 2.5mm plug with a longer shaft. I cut this off the speaker mic so I could use the plug to hard wire it. But all this is now gone! Refer to my new Bluetooth setup: ruclips.net/video/SZXktXPmYDM/видео.html

    UHF has a lot of advantages, riders can have some distance between them, and talking to other vehicles is a big plus. 5 watt Baofengs etc are very affordable and have sufficient capability, some are even IP67 water resistant. There is a very recent combo mobile phone/UHF/GPS/IP67 Android devices beginning to appear that could one day be a good option.

      G'day there, I've moved away from wired comms to wireless. Check my playlist on that subject here: ruclips.net/p/PL_zt7gW1mGMi2kcuqPWg-aVj5lvf80Ldb

      I have no idea what is out there nowadays. Mine was a Starcom1 system, but that was easily 10 years ago.

    Sir, would the UHF radio you showed be compatible with one of the Sena units, like a 10S? I am trying to find a way to have a driver of a van or car be in constant communication with a motorcycle rider. Thx.

    • @keithjob
      @keithjob  3 года назад

      in my experience the 10S doesn't work very well. You will need a newer intercom model.

    good video, UHF is the way to go, pity AUS is so limited to 5w. gotta be a way around the wire to the bike?

    • @keithjob
      @keithjob  4 года назад

      I've seen 8W units on ebay that you can reprogram to Aus channels, but yes I get your point.
      I'd LOVE to ditch the wire. Anyone got a GOOD solution?

      @@keithjob There appears in 2022 to be several Bluetooth PTT systems available, eBay, Amazon, AliExpress... Not tried one yet, been testing VOX opening.

    Thanks Keith, you helped make up my mind with going down the UHF track. Keep up the Videos. Building up my KTM 450 with a similar setup so very handy all your videos.

      There are cheap (~$70) bike-to-bike intercoms - stuck on side of helmet style - that use UHF frequencies, but NOT the standard channel frequencies. These are possibly the best version I have seen, in that it's not bluetooth so is effectively open to as many people you want, it's 0.5W so theoretical range is 3km if flat and open, and all contained on your helmet. Search ebay for "X3 plus uhf"
      BUT it's not the standard channels so you lose the channel 10/40 thing which I personally find really useful.
