I’m sorry you don’t like Black Orchid I just received it for Mother’s Day from my son and I love it it was always on my wish list from smelling it at Sephora’s a year ago. I can totally agree with that description too! But the picture that I get is a giant snake that slowly crawl around your body and slowly strangle you. And it was so hard to wash off my skin lol. I cannot get the smell. It's a creepy smell to my nose. I muuuuch prefere Noir pour femme. It's beautiful and sexy indeed!!

I love Angel with all my heart but I gotta say you must respect its power. 2 sprays and this is it or you will be ready to suffocate the world. I ended up loving Angel EDT way better. Like you I also prefer Mon Guerlain over Libre. Mon Guerlain intense is to die for 💕
Haha, yes! Black Orchid is totally morgue vibes. It triggered my anxiety and made me physically sick. I remember I threw out the card and had to take the garbage outside because I could still smell it. Our noses aren't immature, it's just nasty 🤣
The first time I smelled Black orchid I was amazed, after hearing so many bad things I was expecting to smell something really bad. And it is gourgeous!!It's funny how different we can perceive fragances

Haha! I feel the opposite about Armani Si. My eyes roll back in my head when I smell it. Fiori is also very nice. A popular fragrance I hate is Marc Jacobs Decadance. I hate the bottle, but that I can overlook (I would just hide it at the back of my collection. The scent itself I really dislike. To me it just smells like pickles. I love to eat pickles, but I sure don't want to smell like them.

I'm not a fan of Light Blue, it's too masculine on my skin even though I've received compliments when I've worn it. But, I just don't like it on me. I do adore Donna Trussardi, it's such a lovely scent. A great year round scent, but especially in the spring and summer.
Yeah, this is why it's really difficult to buy fragrances from listening to or reading reviews - it's just too subjective. It's really hard to find a reviewer who shares most of your likes and dislikes though I keep trying :)
I think it’s fun to listen to everyone’s takes but at they end of the day, it’s never a sure thing- I’ve found that out the hard way, blind buying on the recommendation of someone that seemed to have similar tastes! That said, it’s all a bit of an adventure!!😀
@@mariacollettlife Yes, I would not blind buy on the recommendations of one person, I take many factors into consideration. At this point in my journey I only blind buy if it strikes a chord and it's inexpensive enough to risk a mistake. I usually just follow my instinct and thankfully I haven't had too many bad purchases. Most of the time I have to sample something before buying especially if it's pricey - like Delina and BR540, I tested these and glad I did because they've been all the rage, everyone raves about them, but both are horrible on my skin and would have been expensive mistakes if I had blind bought them on reviews and recommendations :)

This was funny, honest, and just a joy to watch. My sister and I are the same way, she hates that I love florals/sweets and she is citrus/spicy, but she will always give her honest opinion about a fragrance.
I dislike Flowerbomb with a passion. And I wondered was something wrong with me that I didn't get the hype over that perfume and Si by Armani. I just don't get it.
No way! I think that’s why these type of videos can actually be helpful. We aren’t all going to like the same things! Negative viewpoints can be helpful especially when someone is trying to get a good idea about a perfume.

Right now I feel like I was just released from a chain gang! I live in Florida, my air conditioning unit took the full day installing, I expected. The heat and humidity was getting unbearable with my daily migraine. I have yet to watch your video; but I will tonight! Maria, I thought just this week about frags I either wore (scratching my head 🤦) or those I detested but they were very popular. Example, HALSTON, CHANTILLY, SHALIMAR, and I loved beast mode. Oh, and the pits was enduring my Supervisor's "signature scent" perfume. Thank God it is now a no no to wear perfumes that just aren't office friendly. I can't wrap my head around wearing one frag. every day. 👎. ***I'm scrolling through comments; people you outdid yourselves! I love the honesty and humour!
Yes! There are so many that you mentioned that I feel the same about!...Angel, Light Blue, Libre....I don't smell the delicious that everyone else does. As somebody who shares a dislike of tacky bottles I highly recommend trying I Want Choo by Jimmy Choo if you're looking for something that gives a similar vibe to Good Girl. It's warm and cozy like Good Girl but with a fresh peach note instead of dirty chocolate. And no strange stiletto ☺️
I totally agree with you about black orchid but I still love it 😆. My husband is absolutely obsessed with it, he can smell it on me from across the house, so I break it out on date nights.

I find this so funny, I love si, and hypnotic poison, and D&G, I also bought trussedi donna as you have mentioned how amazing it is so many times, and oh my goodness, Devine. Yet I bought a sample of Lira and can not stand it. So very strange how our noses work. I have not smelt all of the ones on your list as I am fairly new to the fragrance world. I really wanted to love Dolce and Gabanna Light Blue as it smelled amazing on other people, I’ve tried it on myself several times and it just has an awful sharp note that I find quite sickly! FINALLY, someone who totally agrees with me concerning Black Orchid, hahaha!!! The first word that came to my mind when I smelled this horrid fragrance was "tomb"!! Totally horror movie, vampire vibe!! Arghhhhh!! I could never understand HOW so many people love this stuff!! Actually, we do seem to have very similar tastes in perfumes, as I would never be caught dead in any of the ones you mentioned (whereas I might smell like Black Orchid when I am dead, hahaha!!)
It's funny that there's a world of difference between my loving Chanel Chance eau Tendre and absolutely hating the original Chance! The original Chance smells like a generic bubble bath! Yeachh! But I've fallen madly in love with Chance eau Tendre - perfectly light for work but also sensual, so I feel very sensuous wearing it. Love this video and I'm glad you're so honest!

It’s totally true! I want to like them too. The most recent is Kayali Invite Only…nice but wouldn’t buy a whole bottle. I guess it’s just a way that we can celebrate our uniqueness! 😜
Oh my gosh Maria, you had me rolling with your Black Orchid section! You are so funny! I've hated that perfume from the time it launched and I smelled it at Nordstroms. I had that very same visceral reaction you show at 14:00, in front of the saleswoman no less, hahaha! I was into perfume then but didn't have the nose I have now and I thought I was smelling dirt and patchouli on steroids. One I can;t stand currently is Baccarat Rouge 540. I don't know what it is about that one but there is also a dirt note I pick up or some discordant note, and if a reviewer says another perfume smells similar, I probably won't even try it I hate that profile so much. oxJulia

The only one that hurt my little heart was Hypnotic Poison lol 😂 But perfume is so subjective and smells so different on different people. Miss Dior Blooming Bouquet smells gorgeous on my sister. Floral with delightfull balance of freshness, sweetness and muskiness. On me, though, it gets cloying and makes me nauseus. So strange that our skin draws out so different aspects of a fragrance. I sat next to a girl at a party once and her fragrance creeped me out! I many times have wondered if something is wrong with me, being creeped out by someones perfume - I am so happy that you describe the same thing 😅 Maybe it was Black Orchid, idk. It litterally smelled like a horror movie in my mind.
I totally know what you mean by being creeped out there was this one woman I don’t know what her fragrance was but she was around in my circle, and I literally hated being around her because of her fragrance and somehow it was so cloying and sickly that it made me feel super creeped out! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

I love the way you describe perfume, so funny! I don't like any of these either(except D&G). They're all ones I smelt, and just thought REALLY?! The one everyone loves that I just don't is Chanel CM. I want to love it, but it gives me a headache and I had to return it 😢 Thankfully I watched one of your videos, and bought Elie Saab le parfum. It gives me the same vibe, and I love it!
The subjectivity of fragrance is fascinating to me. I love how different people smell different things from the same scent!! The way you feel about Nomade is the way I feel about Coco Mad and vice versa. However, we both like Burberry Her and other fragrances. It’s crazy to me! And fascinating!! ✨magical✨
Dior Hypnotic is my FAVE of all my top shelf brands💜💜💜😂 that is the only one that I will spend that kind of money to buy😂😂 I will accept others as gifts, but when I run out of hypnotic, I will purchase that one myself😂
I love Mon Guerlain and Libre- I love them both actually. I do prefer Mon Guerlain if I had to choose though. Hypnotic Poison is probably in my top 5 for life. I also have loved play doh since I was little so it’s probably a nostalgic comforting thing.
I love the doll head vibe, but La Rive Sweet Hope was too boring for me. I was hoping it would smell more like root beer, but it didn't. I gave it to my 22 year old, and she seems to like it. I recently ordered the La Rive Fleur de Femme, so hopefully it lives up to the hype, considering how difficult it has been to find lately. My fragrance preference tends to be sweet but not too sweet, so some of my favorites are Guess Seductive Red, Franck Olivier Oud Vanille, and Britney Spears Midnight Fantasy. Things that are sweet, but have a bit of freshness or something interesting beyond just cloyingly sweet. Man, when you started mentioning La Rive, I knew you were my kind of person. I got into perfume during the pandemic, when it wasn't really safe to go out and try samples at the store, so buying dupes is how I have been trying notes and combinations and educating my nose. I can't afford to blind buy all the perfumes I want to try, but I can afford to buy the La Rive version, and if it doesn't work out for me, I can sell it on Mercari. I don't know if you have already noticed this or not, but the La Rive fragrances have a tendency to get stronger if you let them sit. So if you ever love the scent of something but it isn't strong enough for you, try waiting a while and it will strengthen. I'm glad I found you. You are hilarious, and describe scents in such a great way. I'm subscribing for sure!
I'm so glad you like my style of descriptions! I've noticed that about my Fleur de femme...it's definitely gotten stronger. I'm going to check out my other ones to see if the same thing happened with them!
I agree with pretty much all of your dislikes except for Carolina. I completely understand how some Perfumes can disagree with a person's body chemistry. Chloe Nomad in my opinion holds no candle to the original. I may try the Cocoa Mademoiselle and see how it fairs for me. I agree there are many perfumes that have been overhyped but I agree it's personal preference. Sometimes as we mature our scent palettes change also. Like the alternative perfume recommendations.
I agree with you. I think it’s a maturing or a changing. Perfumes that I loved to begin with don’t do it for me know...the nose can be fickle I guess but to me it’s what makes it such a fun adventure!!
I accidentally got too close to a bottle of that Tom Ford Black Orchid...I had to run away. I got away from it, but the memory still lingers. What the heck is in that stuff? I loved at first the tropical notes but then something horrible happened. It's sort of like you said, the Death Zombie Flower Person. It's sort of weird that someone else was frightened by it too. It smelled great but then, like I said, I ran away.
I personally think the people that dislike Si are in the minority!! Many awesome reviewers love it!! It’s got to be super popular and a best seller for a reason!! 😀

Elie Saab Royal-which I know you love, and, I bought because of you-smells like TF Black Orchid very closely with all of the “death notes” removed. I smelled it and said ‘Oh, that’s Black Orchid with training wheels’. The rose is more pronounced in Royal. Making it decidedly more feminine and wearable. I just ordered Narciso Rodriguez Rose Musc (blind buy). I feel like it’s going to make an incredible combination with Royal. 🌹💜

So it’s hard for me to appreciate it now (got it just over a week ago), but come winter I can see how this will smell luxurious. I love that the rose is detectable but not obvious. Judging by the notes and what I know of the Le Parfum line and Narciso...I am excited to combine. I have Black Orchid Edt. I like it, but not love. It smells like pickles and a wild ending to a Tinder date😂🤣 Not that I know from experience. It’s a masterpiece, for sure! I prefer Royal. Love your energy. Hi Maria. When I saw that a...innine heel at Sephora, I just couldn't get past it. The scent is nothing special. I thought I would love E.SAAB GON, but it's waaay too sharp and never dries down on my skin. Burberry Her....Yum! I just received the dupe from OILPERFUMERY. IT'S EXCELLENT. You're right, we simply can't all like a fragrance, even if we're in the minority!
14:50 a sales associate at a perfume store tried to sell me Black Orchid nearly 20 yrs ago when I was out shopping with my ex-husband.. I literally said "WTF is this?!" I hated it immediately and felt insulted.. honestly, Tom Ford is clearly not the house for me because I only like "Lost Cherry".

cerruti 1881 ... my sister gifted me a bottle once after saying 'this is another cheapy that is really good, I will bring you a bottle' ... then I got one, but it is a camomille and I really came to thoroughly dislike it, then some months later she brings over some bottles she doesn't use anymore and what's in them: her cerruti 1881 bottle almost untouched :-D

Hi Maria! I hated Black Orchid, to me it smells like wilted flowers in a funeral home 🤢. The dry down of Hypnotic Poison is straight up pee on me, not the sexy bomb that other reviewers make it out to be (same thing with CH Good Girl, loved the opening and hate the dry down). I love Light Blue though, it’s one of my fav for summer 💙
What smells good on one woman can smell bad on another, because each of us has different body chemistry. If possible best to go shopping and try a perfume. Chanel 5 makes me smell like a cheap street walker, and on others I have known who wear it, it smell intoxicating on them. Chanel 22 was my favorite.
I enjoy Libre now but I had to work up to it for a few days as the beginning is so scratchy. The end notes at the end of the day is everything sensual to me. I don’t care for Lt Blue either. Have a great week!
For me the ones I dislike and regret purchasing are Cashmere Mist by DK. It smells like diapers (fresh diapers lol). And I do not like Sexy Amber by MK (too strong and sweet) or Bright Crystal by Versace...oh and yellow diamond either. Ones I love and will buy over and over would be Jadore and Chanel Eau Tendre.
Cashmere Mist is my signature fragrance. I am constantly having people stop me and ask me what my perfume is. I had two people compliment me this afternoon. I have worn so many fragrances over the years but this is the one that gets me a lot of compliments.I guess it must mix well with my body chemistry. I also have Jadore and Baccarat Rouge 540 but neither gets me the compliments that Cashmere Mist does

I love Angel with all my heart but I gotta say you must respect its power. 2 sprays and this is it or you will be ready to suffocate the world. I ended up loving Angel EDT way better. Like you I also prefer Mon Guerlain over Libre. Mon Guerlain intense is to die for 💕

Haha, yes! Black Orchid is totally morgue vibes. It triggered my anxiety and made me physically sick. I remember I threw out the card and had to take the garbage outside because I could still smell it. Our noses aren't immature, it's just nasty 🤣

A popular fragrance I hate is Marc Jacobs Decadance. I hate the bottle, but that I can overlook (I would just hide it at the back of my collection. The scent itself I really dislike. To me it just smells like pickles. I love to eat pickles, but I sure don't want to smell like them.

I'm not a fan of Light Blue, it's too masculine on my skin even though I've received compliments when I've worn it. But, I just don't like it on me. I do adore Donna Trussardi, it's such a lovely scent. A great year round scent, but especially in the spring and summer.
Yes, Donna has a tarte but sweet quality that I love!
Same light blue on me smells horrible, but my aunt smells so pretty with it.
Yeah, this is why it's really difficult to buy fragrances from listening to or reading reviews - it's just too subjective. It's really hard to find a reviewer who shares most of your likes and dislikes though I keep trying :)
I think it’s fun to listen to everyone’s takes but at they end of the day, it’s never a sure thing- I’ve found that out the hard way, blind buying on the recommendation of someone that seemed to have similar tastes! That said, it’s all a bit of an adventure!!😀
@@mariacollettlife Yes, I would not blind buy on the recommendations of one person, I take many factors into consideration. At this point in my journey I only blind buy if it strikes a chord and it's inexpensive enough to risk a mistake. I usually just follow my instinct and thankfully I haven't had too many bad purchases. Most of the time I have to sample something before buying especially if it's pricey - like Delina and BR540, I tested these and glad I did because they've been all the rage, everyone raves about them, but both are horrible on my skin and would have been expensive mistakes if I had blind bought them on reviews and recommendations :)

No way! I think that’s why these type of videos can actually be helpful. We aren’t all going to like the same things! Negative viewpoints can be helpful especially when someone is trying to get a good idea about a perfume.

As somebody who shares a dislike of tacky bottles I highly recommend trying I Want Choo by Jimmy Choo if you're looking for something that gives a similar vibe to Good Girl. It's warm and cozy like Good Girl but with a fresh peach note instead of dirty chocolate. And no strange stiletto ☺️

Yet I bought a sample of Lira and can not stand it. So very strange how our noses work. I have not smelt all of the ones on your list as I am fairly new to the fragrance world. FINALLY, someone who totally agrees with me concerning Black Orchid, hahaha!!! The first word that came to my mind when I smelled this horrid fragrance was "tomb"!! Totally horror movie, vampire vibe!! Arghhhhh!! I could never understand HOW so many people love this stuff!! Actually, we do seem to have very similar tastes in perfumes, as I would never be caught dead in any of the ones you mentioned (whereas I might smell like Black Orchid when I am dead, hahaha!!)

It's funny that there's a world of difference between my loving Chanel Chance eau Tendre and absolutely hating the original Chance! The original Chance smells like a generic bubble bath! Yeachh! But I've fallen madly in love with Chance eau Tendre - perfectly light for work but also sensual, so I feel very sensuous wearing it. Love this video and I'm glad you're so honest!

I had that very same visceral reaction you show at 14:00, in front of the saleswoman no less, hahaha! I was into perfume then but didn't have the nose I have now and I thought I was smelling dirt and patchouli on steroids. One I can;t stand currently is Baccarat Rouge 540. I don't know what it is about that one but there is also a dirt note I pick up or some discordant note, and if a reviewer says another perfume smells similar, I probably won't even try it I hate that profile so much. oxJulia

The only one that hurt my little heart was Hypnotic Poison lol 😂 But perfume is so subjective and smells so different on different people. Miss Dior Blooming Bouquet smells gorgeous on my sister. Floral with delightfull balance of freshness, sweetness and muskiness. On me, though, it gets cloying and makes me nauseus. So strange that our skin draws out so different aspects of a fragrance.
I sat next to a girl at a party once and her fragrance creeped me out! I many times have wondered if something is wrong with me, being creeped out by someones perfume - I am so happy that you describe the same thing 😅 Maybe it was Black Orchid, idk. The subjectivity of fragrance is fascinating to me. I love how different people smell different things from the same scent!! The way you feel about Nomade is the way I feel about Coco Mad and vice versa. However, we both like Burberry Her and other fragrances. It’s crazy to me! And fascinating!! ✨magical✨

I love Mon Guerlain and Libre- I love them both actually. I do prefer Mon Guerlain if I had to choose though.
Hypnotic Poison is probably in my top 5 for life. I also have loved play doh since I was little so it’s probably a nostalgic comforting thing.
For me, even as a child, play dough smell made me feel sick! 🤣. So many people love it though- pretty sure I’m in the minority 😀
I love the doll head vibe, but La Rive Sweet Hope was too boring for me. I was hoping it would smell more like root beer, but it didn't. I gave it to my 22 year old, and she seems to like it. I recently ordered the La Rive Fleur de Femme, so hopefully it lives up to the hype, considering how difficult it has been to find lately. My fragrance preference tends to be sweet but not too sweet, so some of my favorites are Guess Seductive Red, Franck Olivier Oud Vanille, and Britney Spears Midnight Fantasy. Things that are sweet, but have a bit of freshness or something interesting beyond just cloyingly sweet.
Man, when you started mentioning La Rive, I knew you were my kind of person. I got into perfume during the pandemic, when it wasn't really safe to go out and try samples at the store, so buying dupes is how I have been trying notes and combinations and educating my nose. I can't afford to blind buy all the perfumes I want to try, but I can afford to buy the La Rive version, and if it doesn't work out for me, I can sell it on Mercari. I don't know if you have already noticed this or not, but the La Rive fragrances have a tendency to get stronger if you let them sit. So if you ever love the scent of something but it isn't strong enough for you, try waiting a while and it will strengthen.

I agree with pretty much all of your dislikes except for Carolina. I completely understand how some Perfumes can disagree with a person's body chemistry. Chloe Nomad in my opinion holds no candle to the original. I may try the Cocoa Mademoiselle and see how it fairs for me. I agree there are many perfumes that have been overhyped but I agree it's personal preference. Sometimes as we mature our scent palettes change also. Like the alternative perfume recommendations.
I agree with you. I think it’s a maturing or a changing. Perfumes that I loved to begin with don’t do it for me know...the nose can be fickle I guess but to me it’s what makes it such a fun adventure!!
I accidentally got too close to a bottle of that Tom Ford Black Orchid...I had to run away. I got away from it, but the memory still lingers. What the heck is in that stuff? I loved at first the tropical notes but then something horrible happened. It's sort of like you said, the Death Zombie Flower Person. It's sort of weird that someone else was frightened by it too. It smelled great but then, like I said, I ran away.

Elie Saab Royal-which I know you love, and, I bought because of you-smells like TF Black Orchid very closely with all of the “death notes” removed.
I smelled it and said ‘Oh, that’s Black Orchid with training wheels’.
The rose is more pronounced in Royal. Making it decidedly more feminine and wearable.
I just ordered Narciso Rodriguez Rose Musc (blind buy). I feel like it’s going to make an incredible combination with Royal.

14:50 a sales associate at a perfume store tried to sell me Black Orchid nearly 20 yrs ago when I was out shopping with my ex-husband.. I literally said "WTF is this?!" I hated it immediately and felt insulted.. honestly, Tom Ford is clearly not the house for me because I only like "Lost Cherry".
I like several from Tom Ford but black orchid is definitely polarizing!!! 😀

Lancôme La Vie Est Belle, not a big fan at all. The perfume is super sweet and gives me a headache. I tried so hard to like it and I just can't.

I have yet to find a Tom Ford fragrance I like. I will never buy Coco Mademoiselle, but I have and love Nomade, lol. I avoid patchouli like the plague

Hi Maria! I hated Black Orchid, to me it smells like wilted flowers in a funeral home 🤢. The dry down of Hypnotic Poison is straight up pee on me, not the sexy bomb that other reviewers make it out to be (same thing with CH Good Girl, loved the opening and hate the dry down). I love Light Blue though, it’s one of my fav for summer 💙

What smells good on one woman can smell bad on another, because each of us has different body chemistry. If possible best to go shopping and try a perfume. Chanel 5 makes me smell like a cheap street walker, and on others I have known who wear it, it smell intoxicating on them. Chanel 22 was my favorite.
I enjoy Libre now but I had to work up to it for a few days as the beginning is so scratchy. The end notes at the end of the day is everything sensual to me. I don’t care for Lt Blue either. Have a great week!

For me the ones I dislike and regret purchasing are Cashmere Mist by DK. It smells like diapers (fresh diapers lol). And I do not like Sexy Amber by MK (too strong and sweet) or Bright Crystal by Versace...oh and yellow diamond either. Ones I love and will buy over and over would be Jadore and Chanel Eau Tendre.

Cashmere Mist is my signature fragrance. I am constantly having people stop me and ask me what my perfume is. I had two people compliment me this afternoon. I have worn so many fragrances over the years but this is the one that gets me a lot of compliments.I guess it must mix well with my body chemistry. I also have Jadore and Baccarat Rouge 540 but neither gets me the compliments that Cashmere Mist does
