Hi guys, I can remember when they built the new maintenance shed for the expected Euro Tunnel service to Mancs at Ardwick. It never happened of course. I had a mate who got a job with Euro Tunnel rail as a parts store worker and they just spent everyday doing test runs to Paris in expectations of the service starting. Eventually the proposed service was canx and most were laid off as it wasnt part of BR(?) Cheers DougT
Superb vid and look around this depo. I used to go to this depo taking pics when I was a kid many years ago as my dad had a car garage in Ardwick so much to see with all the old diesels on the sideings years ago.
Really enjoyed this! Glad it's not just me that enjoys those drivers eye train videos. Spent years commuting on trains across various lines so this was great to see behind the scenes. Trains have become far more interesting to me now I'm middle aged.
Fascinating video. Great to see behind the scenes. Always have a massive respect to train drivers, one of my mates is a Pendo driver, and the route knowledge you need, especially at night, and the responsibility is incredible. Great to see Don too, his cab rides are so addictive.
NICE ONE, Martin! THANKS for that. I'm lucky to've had a couple o'Technical Visits here over the years - never short of brilliant. Just realised this morning that, sadly, I'd missed an almost identical 'Tech.Vis.' TODAY to Queens Rd depot 😞 - it's been a good couple o'years since I visited there. Been to the Old Trafford sister depot more recently. {"Treasure-Hunt" is on THIS WEEKEND, BTW (bring the crew along)}.
Wait a minute. It's Monday. Yous had me proper confused when I saw this in notifications. What a treat to get a full tour and a play on a real train set. Thank you Mr Coffey for showing the lads around. I watch a few pilot videos and I noted the parallels as soon as you were moving off into the wash shed. Interesting to see how it all works.
This was a Looooong-awaited video. Getting to see Martin and Don on a collab video was on my Christmas wishlist for years!! Sim time was very enjoyable, too. I used to fly the KC-135 simulator a lot back in the eighties, and although there was no horse (sorry James) there were unusual issues meant to be dealt with. Cheers to you ALL!!
Great to see Don, been all over the country with his videos, it's really good to see places and areas of the country that you don't normally see when in a car.
Nice one Martin, as I'm a (hobby) traindriver my self, its always nice to have a look in some one elses kitchen so to speak. Good job done there. Thanks!
Hi Martin, Really interesting vlog. And like you, I've watched some of Dons videos and suddenly realised I've stayed up hours longer than intended! lol
4:50 Trivia: WESURAIL - A company part of the WashTec group. The world leader and innovator in Car-, Bus-, Truck- and Train washing technology. Founded as "Kleindienst GmbH" in 1885 in Augsburg / Germany. Brand name is Wesumat, which was a separate company originally, for car wash units. 1996 they fusioned with its long-time partner California Rohé. After a merger of Wesumat Holding and California-Kleindienst in 2000 the enterprise runs as "WashTec AG". In 2008 they bought the chemical specialist AUWA Chemie GmbH, which nicely fits the portfolio.
A nice crossover between yourself and Don Coffey. He seems a lovely chap and does good work for charities. Perhaps you can use some connections to explore some more disused railway infrastructure 😄.
Martin, like the industrial vids, but you have missed a trick, you never investigated how people lived or how. they got to and from work on nights,if the mill was in Ashworth valley?
Great video guys. "Lancelot" (TOPS number 01.551) is a 1966 English Electric shunter, built for the CEGB Croydon "B" power station.
Thank you. So he's an 01 👍🏻
@@MartinZero Not the original Class 01, the 01.5 series is more recent for non-standard locos that are allowed on Network Rail tracks.
Thanks Martin, lovely to meet Don Coffey. I was stuck to his videos as yo say. Thanks Don.
Yep those cab rides are very addictive
Great video Martin!
Thanks to everybody involved, especially Don.
👍🙂
Big thank you to Don

Thank you, yes we had to put this up a day late unfortunately
Great video. Thanks!
Very interesting look at something I've no ideas about. Real information about real situations, and how they are dealt with. Thanks.
Thanks Ian

I’m not into trains but found this very interesting. James hitting the horse was funny lol.
Yeah it was interesting to see what goes on. The horse was definitely funny 😄
Excellent
Thanks David
