- College Football's 2024 season is right around the corner, and Josh Pate took some time on Late Kick Live Ep 509 to discuss some of the more under-the-radar teams in the country. How will West Virginia respond after a 9-4 season? Could we see Nebraska pop back on the national scene? How can Iowa State capitalize on strong returning production? Josh also discusses USF in the G5. Finally some Love for the the mountaineers from Pate
I sometimes think the "returning production" metric is, by itself, not telling us much.
Like, a team returning 60% of their production when they were ranked top-10 in offensive and defensive stats is probably a lot better off than a team returning 70% of their production when they were ranked in the bottom half in offensive and defensive stats.
I think there needs to be an additional step where the percentage of returning production is applied to what that actual production was, then compare those figures.
Context matters
Go Bulls 🤘
You guys always pumping Nebraska
So?
@@SpencerBringhurst because they aren't good
@@greenwave819 Not relevant at all either.
@@greenwave819 Do we only talk about good teams?
@@raniebranson8051 Blue Bloods are always relevant.
The highest Michigan is ranked is #7...as low as 13. There are indeed many moving parts to be realigned here but the defense may, once again, be the best in the country and the offense may simply reload-may not have to throw a forward pass that travels more than 20 yards in the air. Even those who are informed in this regard would be stunned if they won a consecutive NC-but this is a crazily complicated game where anything can happen.
I’m a Duck fan, and love keeping up on everything that is going on. I think you have a great take. Honestly I think Michigan and Washington are both being underrated. I think you’re right about Michigan. Bet their ceiling is repeating as National Champs. Washington’s ceiling feels more like 10-2 and get into the playoff but not make a deep run. Both of those things are not being thought about for either program though.
losing Conor Stalions is gonna result in a big downshift
Lets go mountaineers!
Watch out for Boise State, Ucf, Virginia Tech, and Rutgers
Josh I give you a hard time about your content. But this is what I'm talking about. Give love to teens that you usually don't give love to you you know. They deserve it it's been a great show. I love learning about other teams I don't know much about. Thank you
Those jerseys are nice
OMG it’s a miracle he talked about WVU.
yeah most of us want to see coverage of good teams
@@greenwave819 ok but he still talks about Miami and Nebraska all the time though. WVU is turning it around and is going to be a factor in the Big 12
@@greenwave819 I challenge you to a charity boxing match
As a FSU fan, that GT game is going to be a good one.
Boise State is the best G5 school in the history of college football. They always get overlooked and prove everyone wrong.
Man I wish Golesh would have stayed at UT
Last year could have been way more hopeful for the vols, and I'd be electric about this year instead of still hesitant to get hopes up lol (never bet on the vols btw, you're welcome)
Do you think that Auburn will make a bowl game like they did last year?
My under the radar team I’m watching is Virginia Tech a lot of production coming back I expect them to be better then last season. Plus Kyron Drones could be one of the better QBs in the ACC
Go jackets!!! 🐝🐝🐝🐝
Texas State??? Might go unbeaten
Rutgers is the most underrated yeam in the country
The Big12 will have a playoff team. I think UCF is greatly improved.
Texas Tech is a sleeper.
Hell yea go bulls
Go Bulls Baby
How many years is Nebraska going to have to suck before people stop saying "THIS is their year!!!" I finally happened with Texas. I don't think it's going to happen with Nebraska this year, especially in the new B1G. They might make a bowl. Best they do is 7-5.
In 1991, Nebraska went 9-2-1 with a stout defense, a running game, and some guy named "Keithen McCants" as QB. They have a stout defense, a good running game, a favorable schedule, and a guy at QB who, despite being a true freshman, is at least as good as Keithen McCants. I don't think 9 wins is at all unreasonable.
it is tho
😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣
A true freshman that is good? How so? In high school he was good not great now he in college and still will be good... Well we don't know yet
@@clarencewalder2985 yo don't become a 5 star recruit by being "good not great" in high school. And, nothing against Keithen McCants, but he wasn't all that good. In 1991, McCants had a 57% completion percentage and threw 13 TD's and 8 INTs. I think Raiola can do better than that.
@@dentonyoung4314 McCants also had 117 rushing attempts. He averaged 5.6 yards per attempt and scored 7 TDs over 11 games.
Kansas,UCF,Nebraska
He must be being paid to gas up Nebraska every one of these segments lol.
Please interview Matt Rhule Pate! GBR
Gbr
USF should’ve beaten Bama
I love how people chose to ignore that game last year.
TXST
😂😂😂😂
6 games 😂😂
UCF, you’re welcome
Good list. For me:
Rutgers, really favorable schedule and bring back leading Big 10 rusher Kyle Monangai.
Texas State, no reason they can’t go 12-0, add QB Jordan Mccloud from JMU.
Syracuse, loaded up in the portal with talent
Oklahoma State is a big time sleeper!
Not really a sleeper when you played for the B12 Championship 2 of the last 3 years. Gundy routinely sneaks into the back door of conference contention conversations then mid/late in the season people start to notice them in the room.
UTAH will win the B12 this year, not Iowa State
