To be contrarian, we kind of have the best of both worlds right now, the insane breath taking AAA games and the weird budget indie games. Yes I would like to see more in the AA space and games like Ape Escape is perfect for that but I also love seeing all these original ideas coming from the indie space getting highlighted more because of the lack of AA games
Just wanted to highlight a 50m dollar budget on a 40$ game would require almost 13 m copies sold which is probably on par with God of War Ragnarok's sales numbers last number announced was like 11m I think. The 13m copies would only apply if it was all sold through PlayStation store as items sold through retailers have ~30% taken for the retailers cut.
Thank you for the insight. So probably something like 25-30 million, and charge 50 bucks. I had 50 million in my head because I remember hearing Control was made for a similar amount, so a game like Ape Escape or Parappa may be able to be done for half that.
I wanna add Gravity Rush to this list. The last game came out 6 years ago. Which isn’t nearly as bad as some other franchises on here, but they basically confirmed that they‘re done with this series. Not only are the games super fun, but it was also one of the few modern PlayStation IPs that didn’t feel the need to take itself super seriously.
I was going to add that, but saved it for a potential sequel video. I played the first one earlier this year and liked it a lot. I wish Sony didn’t shut down Japan Studio.
@@WITAWITAVGFor real! Japan Studio made up like half of the charm of Sony Publised Games in general for me. They were all about making cool littles idea into cool little games with reasonable budgets. Modern Sony doesn’t really do that.
I love Jak and Daxter! One of my favourite video game series ever. The first game especially is still so special to me to this day. I do like later sequels obviously, but if felt so different to what came before unfortunately.
@@WITAWITAVG to be fair i haven't played the original as much as i've played the sequel, but something about the songs just feels a lot more alive to me (stage 3 especially)
Lowkey never buy jrpg’s that get remastered to fit modern mechanics I always go to the original turn base version because every game is reaction based these days I just want a game that makes me sit and think while also giving me areas to explore
I don't really get why they would revive Bloodborne? From software games(except maybe Sekiro) are spiritually the same series, just with different environments and lore. I'd rather they go whatever thematic direction makes sense for them than force a Bloodborne sequel.
I think the reputation and sales of Bloodborne justify a sequel or reboot. The world is just too special to leave at 30FPS and on last generation consoles.
Days Gone deserved so much better. If only it didn’t get average reviews upon launch and how buggy and glitchy it was upon launch too. So disappointing am I right?
Ok not $50 million for PaRappa 3 lmao. Maybe like 15-20 mil?
Man, that Ape Escape soundtrack hits. The single reason why we need more.
Agreed. Such a 90s vibe.
i liked this video. simple editing. chill commentary from someone who sounds like a human being. nice.
Thanks! I want to keep that indie down to earth energy. I have a hard time balancing a comedic tone with an analytic tone.
Speaking of Sly Cooper, you forgot to add the Sly Cooper series in this list.
I did mention a potential sequel to this video!
man I feel old and I have to explain to some games to my nephews and younger brother about the games in the past

I think it would be really cool to get a new infamous game or remakes of the first 2
Don’t forget Sly Cooper! He’s now trapped in Egypt for all eternity! Until a 5th game does ever happen of course.
agree with you on parappa, need a new one of them they're so so good
hooowever i think the 2nd game's songs are way better
Wow really? I need to replay 2 then!

PaRappa did get a remaster surprisingly
