  • Gaming Pastime reviews Sly 3: Honor Among Thieves for PlayStation 3.
Developed by Sucker Punch Productions and published Sony Computer Entertainment, Sly 3: Honor Among Thieves was released for PlayStation 2 in September, 2005. It was remastered along with the first two games as part of the Sly Collection for PlayStation 3. Sly 3: Honor Among Thieves is a fun, albeit bloated game that doesn't quite reach the same heights as its predecessor.

That pirate minigame was included even in the splitscreen two player mode which was a pretty nice touch.

dude, I think your falling into the reviewer pitfall of judging a game for what you want it to be, not what it is. a lot of the con's in this video are boiling down to "I wanted this to be Metal Gear with furries" and it's not productive to critique things based on your personal preference over what's there, the most valid criticism I saw in this was the number of features removed that desensitised exploration and instead forced grinding

      ^This.
As much as I like Gaming Pastime's content, the imbalance between personal and critical coverage can be frustrating, especially as someone who's been studying game design and programming in University recently.

It's kind of hard to not talk about your personal preferences and the previous games in the series when youre reviewing a trilogy. The review process is inherently personal and subjective to the reviewer. Especially for sly 3, it's pretty much the same as the previous game but with a broader scope. It's funny that you say that gaming pastime is being more personal and less objective, because I would say that was actually a big problem in the past with his reviews that im glad the channel has evolved beyond. He would literally just tell you what was in the game itself, like he was reading the Wikipedia entry for it. This is a lot more opinionated, which is exactly why i would watch it.

I love this trilogy but almost fully agree with his criticisms here. There are far too mani mini games simply for the sake of variety. 2 had a more even balance of platforming, stealth/heist setup missions, playing as Murray/Bentley, mini games and even the odd twist like rajan escaping and the jailbreak etc. I still love 3s ending to bits though.
Its okay to critique and admit the faults in the things you love, or even have desires/preferences for them. His critiques aren't too different from reviews or how I felt back in the day honestly!

Yeah, Sly 3 goes a little off the rails with its minigames. Some of them are surprisingly fun but a lot of them lack enough depth to really justify being there. I think Sly 3 has the best ending of the series in general and is still a lot of fun though. Great review!

I've played the whole Sly series on my Vita, and wow, what a blast! It's almost shameful how those games are not more popular nowadays.

You didn't mention the stilted and robotic animations of the characters in the first three games nor how Carmelita keeps having different voice actresses.
