Thanks Brandon. Since we are surrounded by blackberries I have to cut them down all the time. This is the method that has worked for me, I hope it works for you. Working on slopes has it challenges. We have used a metal blade cutting attachment on our weed whacker. But I prefer using the hedge trimmers. Let me know how it goes.
Thanks for this! I'm down in Lacey/Olympia area and the Himalayan blackberries are taking over my backyard. I have some of the native blackberry, but I don't mind it as it's not aggressive like the himalayan. That's probably a project for one day this week and/or next weekend while the weather is warmer (finally).
Bought a 20 acre property with lots, and lots, of Himalayan blackberries. A word of advice, welding gloves do an excellent job at protecting from those thorns.
Do you have an updated video on this as to how it has turned out? I've seen people say they do a whole bunch of the stuff in an hour even with an electric biscuit cutter first and I'm like no way. The patches they have showed might take them a couple of weeks to do and then to put root killer on every route that they trim back? That takes a long time. That's a lot of work. I just want people to be honest about how hard this is and how long it takes. Nice that you showed that you were actually working hard on this and you stated it's hard work.
It’s awesome to see you tackling those blackberries. I have a slope and I have to remove a ton of them. I’m going to try your technique! 🎉wish me luck

Good luck with the battle. Stay on top of them and pull any young shoots early. Thanks for watching and commenting.

They’re taking over but I will reclaim our yard again soon. What gets rid of them forever?
What to do with all the clippings after?
Dont the thorns hurt the goats' mouths?
