- After her 6 years of one-sided love, Kotoko got married to Naoki, and they went to Okinawa for their honeymoon. In flight heading to Okinawa, they meet a newlywed couple which disturbs their honeymoon. They face a crisis of post-honeymoon divorce, but after all, Kotoko has a stronger bond with Naoki and feels happy. When Kotoko goes back from the honeymoon, she is shocked to learn that their marriage paper has not been filed yet. This is Naoki’s decision that he would not file the marriage paper until his father’s company, Pandai, makes it through..

In Japanese language, the first syllable of both shots and kiss are “chuuuu.” When Kotoko was saying “chuuuu,” she was saying she wants to kiss Naoki in her dream. But Naoki mistakenly thinks she is dreaming about giving shots. So Kotoko kissed him, and he realized what she was actually saying. So cute 🥰

Manga author died so it was never finished. Also, Kotoko was diagnosed with a hereditary illness that was making her blind, so it might have had a much sadder ending than you think.

@@cali3473 Haven't read the source material in over a decade so I can't tell you. The Taiwan version "It Started with a Kiss" and second season "They Kiss Again" follows the manga pretty faithfully. She gets diagnosed and runs away while he finds out later and chases her. It just sort of stops after he finds her and she tells the family. They put up a text card saying they are ending there to honor the manga author who died before completing the work. Most of this goes down in the last episode of "They Kiss Again" if you want to see it.
The reason why Naoki is really jealous of Keita is because he's exactly his opposite. He has a warm personality and is loved by all and knows how to take care of kotoko. The only thing Naoki has compared to Keita is his superior intelligence. Keita like Naoki, never allows kotoko to depend on him and makes her want to grow. Hence, he felt threatened of losing Kotoko to keita because he has nothing else to offer. Keita can do the things he does to kotoko and better. It's the first time Naoki felt inferior towards another man and realized he has to compete for kotoko. and that's a really nasty feeling. Jealousy and inferiority. He didnt know how to process that.
Kotoko always used naoki as reason to improve now she has Keita too he felt really threatened and jealous
And the only thing he has his kotoko's love to support him.

The way Naoki is jealous when he saw that Kotoko and Kamogari happy talking together and he just fade his smile when he saw them. And I love the scene when Naoki carried Kotoro in his back and then Naoki is so pissed but then Kotoro kissed his cheek and HE JUST SMILE 😂

While Naoki wants Kotoko to be independent and rely on herself, I think he'a the type to get shaken up if Kotoko actually did find something she likes and pursues it. Although he's supportive of her dreams, he's not used to her having a world without him in it. He's confident because he knows Kotoko's world revolves around him so the appearance of Keita--a handsome and competent man who's also close to Kotoko--crushed his own wall of security. Kotoko's world may revolve around Naoki but it has so many people in it. On the other hand, Naoki's world only has his goals and Kotoko in it.

been rewatching this and reading some comments.. those saying Naoki is red flag, toxic and what not, i don't think they understand the drama... Naoki is a genius who "can do everything" and having everyone praise him so he is so used to being so confident and sure of himself and an epitome of an introvert until kotoko. so he is still learning a lot about emotions and how to handle and express them. another thing, naoki is generally "nice" or civil with other girls but "arrogant" and cold to kotoko and his mom, i think this is because kotoko and his mom are the only ladies he is comfortable to be himself. and blaming him entirely for the lack of confidence of kotoko, for goodness sake the guy literally announced his wife to the media, never did he denied he is married and his wife is kotoko, if anything he is more vocal about their marriage than kotoko.

Kotoko's charm and innocence is such that people will be drawn to her and in case of Naoki he is handsome and super intelligent so people will be drawn to him as well. They are mature and also immature because they are very young and new to marriage and relationship. Had they got married after he completed his medical school and she her nursing course, it would have been a bit more different. Naoki has shown enough proof to kotoko that she need not be insecure. Without caring for public he declares her always proudly as his wife.

I thought that Naoki did a good job defending his wife, Kotoko, from Keita's advances at the bar and the health center. So, I felt that he dropped the ball after that. I was surprised that he didn't get more forceful with Keita after that. Instead, he took it out on Kotoko. He did the same thing when he and Sahoko saw Kotoko and Kin-chan at the Bridge. He was jealous to see her with him, so he lashed out at her. He's right when he says that Kotoko can make him lose control of himself when she's around.

Naoki felt so jealous and threatened when he heard that KinChan had proposed to Kotoko, that he quickly confessed his love and married her. He could have just started dating her, but by marrying Kotoko, Naoki got rid of KinChan's threat to him. KinChan loves Kotoko and would marry her in a heartbeat if he could, but he would never come between Kotoko and Naoki if they are married.
Keita in my view is a more dangerous threat to Naoki because he does not have a filter. Keita doesn't respect the boundaries of Kotoko and Naoki's marriage. He thinks everyone is up for grabs if their relationship and behavior don't live up to his standards. Naoki spoke to Keita twice about respecting his wife and their marriage. Keita doesn't care. The majority of men will respect another man's exclusive relationship with a woman. They know that she's off the market. Imagine being Naoki and being confronted with a guy making a play for your wife. This must be terribly frustrating to Naoki. No wonder he's mad. He has no idea what to do. He's never encountered anxiety, frustration, and jealousy on this level before. This defies his sense of logic, so he resorts to his old standby emotion of lashing out at the woman he loves.

Naoki has been jelous since episode 1, he just don't know what the feeling is. This will be the first time he it, but If you watch the show closely, you will find out that he has been jelous A LOT. His first kiss to kotoko was because he was jealous of Kin-chan touching her. When he was dating Sahoko and they bumped into Kotoko and Kinchan, he was jealous too, and Sahoko clearly said: "you don't know your own feelings" and he DIDN'T. I think this is the main reason why he didn't find out that he really was in love with Kotoko until the very end, because he simply thought that Kotoko annoyed him in those situations.

I could not appreciate this version before since I thought that Kotoko was overacting than the other versions. However, as I am rewatching this again, I started to love this version more. The Naoki in this version too is much more warm than the others. Hands up to these great actors! 🫶🏻
