Got it... love it.... attached a micro skate deck to the knife as a lanyard bead... nice sheath... put three bands on it and a lanyard... fits in front pocket nice
Man, that thing is nice. I’ve got probably around 100 rough riders, but not one of their fixed blades. I’m a big fan of the spade Appaloosa series with their folders, so I would def love to get this one. Looks like it would be a nice little carry too. Thanks for sharing Tobias.
Very much small enough to just drop in a pocket. Might be a little bulky with the belt loop. But if you can legally belt carry it would pretty much be nothing on the belt. I really like it. If you like the Spade series, this might be the fixed blade you're looking for.
I know where you're coming from. I have several knives that are on the wish list but they never quite make it to the cart. There are so many knives to choose from. Thanks for watching and happy holidays!
Reminds me of a old brass and camel bone one I got in a lot. More full/to the edge of tang handle. Handy knife for small game and trapping. Might try this one as well, like that sheath... see if I can stuff a ferro rod in that back loop 😂
i like the drop point and feel that it is more amenable to edc tasks. I also love that it is full tang with simple construction. also, when the handle is really small, i attach a fat lanyard that fills in the grip
Shields on fixed blades are much less common than folders. In many ways they are like the Chess Piece Knight on Paladin's Colt 45. As such, they add a special touch to the knife. I agree with you that the Spade looks nice on this knife. It also ties it to the series. If you pair this to one of the small slip joints in the series, you have a really nice pairing.
That life has great lines! The handle reminds me of my MKM macro, but the RR as a much sleeker blade shape and it’s shiny. Of course the MKM is made of M390 and it did cost 10 times the price of this. But both would fulfil the current trend for EDC fixed blades.
Nice coincidence as mine arrived last week. I actually bought it to fill a slot in my black appaloosa series thinking I would dislike it. I was very surprised at how well it fits my hand. Other than the double nail pulls I am yet to be disappointed with this series. Take care Tobias and you have a blessed Christmas season 🙏
Hi Tobias: It’s really nice small fixed blade. Very sleek. Love the finger choil. As a lefty myself, it would have been wonderful to see the spade on both sides in this series as I’m sure you’d agree. Still, us southpaws have had to get used to seeing the pile side out. Not much lefty love from knife manufacturers. 😂😢😂
The fact that it goes in the sheath with the pile side out just fine is nice, even if it is unintentional. I always like it when a knife can goin a sheath either way. Rough Ryder has made a few knives with left handed sheaths. I should do a video on them.
Hello Tobias. The day I saw this Knife on SMKW I went straight to your Channel to see if you had posted a Review of this knife. I was just a few days early i guess. Glad to see you got the Knife and have posted a review on the quick. Such a Beautiful Knife, and really got me itching to get one. Though I had already had my mind set to get the Arctic Fox Cotton Sampler, so it will have to wait until next month. Really great Idea comparing it to the Bird and Trout Knife. Thank you Tobias for all the Knife Video content this year. You are always on the spot with the history and excellent detail. Knife Chats is always a go to when wanting that next Rough Ryder Knife Just spot on information. Wishing You and your Family Very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
I'm glad you found the review useful. Thanks for all the kind words. And may you and your family also have a very Merry Christmas and and joyous and prosperous New Year.
Thanks. If anything, the only down side would be the tiny size. If you have a bear paw sized hand, it might be too small for comfort. But I think this is an issue with many B&T knives.
@@KnifeChatswithTobias Yeah, I do have large hands but seem to want to tote these small fixed blades more often than the medium sized ones. So I've made one of those collections within collections with B&T knives. There's a ton of them out there.
Glad they are going back to spelling Rider the way it should be. I guess Ryder might become collector's item now. LOL. I could see this knife being a boot knife.
I see a lot of people trashing the steel because it is 440A. That's not the problem. 440A can make for a fantastic knife. The problem with the Rough Ryder knives is the grain structure -- it ranges from mediocre to terrible. It's a shame RR/SMKW chose to cheap out here.

Sounds like you made a nice addition to your carry! Glad you liked. Thanks for watching!
Very cool. I got that knife from SMKW a couple weeks ago and I love it. It's beautiful 😊

Good looking piece, it is on my want list. I may go broke before I get to it, but it's on their. Thanks for sharing and have a great blessed week.

Very nice looking version of a bird and trout! Thanks for showing it off, buddy!
I wasn't sure I liked it when I first saw it but the more I hold it and actually cut with it, the more I do like it. Thanks for watching!

Very nice and sleek, a great steak cutter too, thanks for reviewing it, Tobias.

Neat knife

It’s a very good looking knife, and the price can’t be beat. I’m assuming it’s the standard RR 440 steel?

@KnifeChatswithTobias thank you smkw is doing me dorty and ive been collecting rough rider for a long time bumbs me out not collecting anymore
Pretty knife. I'm sure it will open lots of mail. As a field knife it is lacking in belly.
It has more belly than most of the traditional B&T and/or Caping knives I've come across.
you must be over 60 to have grey hair and liver spots i am 59 and none of that
That’s silver hair! I’ve had the spots since I was kid.
