While using LIFO technique in food industry as per your given example in this video, how about the shelf life? dont you think we should sell those items firs with less shelf life, that's why most company use FIFO. Thank you
Using the LIFO (Last In, First Out) technique in the food industry can be problematic because it prioritizes selling the most recently received items first, which may lead to older stock with a shorter shelf life remaining unsold. This can result in potential waste and losses due to spoilage, which is why most companies prefer the FIFO (First In, First Out) method. FIFO ensures that older items are sold first, reducing the risk of selling expired products and maintaining freshness for perishable goods.
You're so welcome! 🙏🙏🙏 I'm really glad you’re enjoying the content. Thanks for being part of this amazing community-your support means the world to me! 😊✨

How can companies adopt sustainable inventory management practices that align with ethical sourcing and corporate social responsibility, while still maintaining operational efficiency?
Hey there! That’s such a fantastic question! I love seeing people interested in sustainability and ethical sourcing. In my experience, companies can start by working closely with suppliers who share their values-transparency is key! From there, they can use data-driven tools to balance their inventory levels responsibly, cutting down on waste while still meeting customer demand. They could also look into certifications like Fair Trade or Rainforest Alliance (depending on their industry) to ensure ethical sourcing, and maybe even explore blockchain solutions for supply chain transparency. Another great way to keep things running efficiently is by investing in tech-inventory management software and forecasting tools can make a world of difference, helping pinpoint exactly what (and how much) is needed. It’s all about striking that balance between caring for people and the planet, and still delivering top-notch service. Thanks so much for stopping by and sharing your thoughts! If you have more questions, don’t hesitate to let me know!

All these ideas and methods are good, but all of these methods are incomplete or having many drawbacks to practical inventory management. External factors like cashflow, suppliers performance, customers's taste change, macro economical factors etc., affects deeply on the order process.
Absolutely, I appreciate your insight, and you're right that practical inventory management can indeed be quite complex due to various external factors like cashflow, suppliers' performance, changing customer preferences, and broader economic influences. How can businesses effectively balance the costs of holding excess inventory with the risks of stockouts, and what strategies can be employed to optimize inventory levels for different product types and demand patterns?
Balancing inventory costs and stockout risks requires a flexible approach tailored to each product's demand predictability. For predictable demand, forecasting, reorder points, and efficient storage minimize costs. Unpredictable demand necessitates agile methods like just-in-time inventory and sophisticated forecasting, though stockout risks increase. Optimizing inventory involves classifying items by value (ABC analysis), using advanced forecasting, employing inventory software, collaborating with suppliers (VMI), regular reviews, and efficient warehousing. Ultimately, effective inventory management combines accurate prediction, streamlined processes, and adaptability to market changes.
Hey there! 😊 What an amazing question-balancing the cost of holding excess inventory with stockout risks is definitely a core challenge in supply chain management. It’s all about finding that sweet spot where you can keep customers happy while managing costs efficiently. And wow, I love the insight from @suarezeremechatin03 🌟 They nailed some excellent strategies like leveraging ABC analysis, advanced forecasting, and vendor-managed inventory (VMI). Tailoring approaches based on demand predictability is such a smart move! To add my two cents, businesses can also explore: Safety Stock Calculation: Adjusting buffer stock levels based on lead times and service level goals. Demand Segmentation: Grouping products based on demand patterns and assigning specific strategies to each segment. Dynamic Inventory Policies: Regularly reviewing and adjusting reorder points and quantities to stay in sync with market trends. For those just diving into these concepts, inventory management software like NetSuite, Fishbowl, or Odoo can help streamline these processes. Thanks for sparking such an interesting discussion-this is why I love our community! 💬🙌 Keep the questions and ideas coming! 🚀

To add my two cents, businesses can also explore:
Safety Stock Calculation: Adjusting buffer stock levels based on lead times and service level goals.
