Nah, a 9 or 10 means the album is pushing boundaries and is doing something new while also being a fantastic album on top of that. This album is just fantastic, and Fantano literally said it was predictable and he felt a couple songs were eh. So this is clearly an 8. Surprisingly fantastic coming from the oldest metal bands still out right now, but nothing more.

An 8 from Fantano means it's fucking fantastic, but doesn't do anything new or is really culturally significant. Like he says it's a "predictable Judas Priest album" and felt eh on a couple tracks as well, anyways, so there wasn't any way this album was gonna get a 10.

Judas Priest are one of the most underrated bands of all time. Most don't ever consider them up there as being the best heavy metal band of all time but they just might be. Not only are they most consistent bands going but they are easily one of the most influential.... They single handedly created Speed metal, made leather and studs a stable in the metal scene, popularised twin guitars and now they come back with one of their best albums after over 40 years of being together.... How do they not get called the best?!

Really don't like Flamethrower tbh. Other then that a couple songs that really aren't that memorable but don't really detract from the experience either. Overall I really like this new record a lot more than Redeemer Of Souls.

How did this album escape me until now!? Giving it a listen, this thing is beauty in motion. I never minded alot of their late stuff. I liked Redeemer of Souls, didn't mind Angel of Retribution and Nostradamus was actually surprising to me in it's ambition. This however? Holy mother! This is the best metal they've shredded since Painkiller in my opinion.
The energy in this album is just so unreal. It reminds me of a compliment a friend of mine once gave that went something like "It's like every song is written and performed as if it were their last" and that is the kind of feel that albums like this and Painkiller give. They have no time for calming down, their on a mission to blow the lid off every preceding high and out-do everything you have heard and will hear for the rest of the week with every track.
When it comes to the vocals of Judas Priest, my favorite way to describe Rob Halford's charisma as a vocalist is as if you are hearing the sermon of a harbinger of all-encompassing evil. He screeches words of terror, doom and suffering as we, the audience, feel an almost hypnotic draw in his words as we cheer him on and relish his word.

Agreed Maidens Brave New World is one of the best classic metal combacks ever after dodgy periods...Sabbath's 13 was similarly a fantastic surprise....love it... apologies to all true metal fans but never understood the likes of Megadeath and Judas Priest....one day I may grow up....but to me Maiden do this form of metal so well musically and lyrically that other similar bands just sound like wallpaper in comparison....

I saw Judas Priest live in, I wanna say 2008, and was completely blown away by his voice, he was doing acapella echoes with the audience for 10 minutes at one point and its one of the most memorable concert moments for me. I thought the same thing as you then, and even more-so now, his vocals have not been effected by father time in the least, not only that but they have gotten better, and better, and better. His voice has a thickness now that it never had, but its not changed an octave like Bruce Dickinson's has. Still as impressive range as ever.
