  • One day in the remote small town of Petersburg in Alaskan panhandle. Petersburg is unique for its rich Nordic heritage which is manifested everywhere in town.

Dramatic changes since 1978. I married one of their blondes and had 4 kids there. Now, it's gay town, full of environmental communists!

You could kidnap me, bring me there, and I'd believe I was still in Norway. Edit: If it weren't for all the american flags xD

Haha, true in many aspects! Norwegian coast villages never feel so remote and desolated though, there's a stronger sense of connectedness in Norway. But you're right, and that's the reason why Norwegians come here and manage to retain their heritage.

It is on an island in the panhandle and it is not as remote as you think. It is near Wrangel, Juneau. It has a hardware store, high school with gym, a library, a pizzaria, bars, thrift shops, and people actually retire there. There is a big fishery there used to be Icycle seafoods. They process salmon in the summers. They have a safeway and a large post office, airfield which lands big planes

@@markscott4830 It is not too remote by Alaskan standards. If a town has regular jet service by Alaska Airlines, it cannot be too remote. You can live in Petersburg and enjoy civilization. But it is not exactly Homer or Wasilla either.

Indeed, the human capital is really high in that part of Alaska.
