- The Rose-Breasted Grosbeak is a beautiful little songbird that I learned about last year. Join me at Roger's Lakewood Park in Valparaiso, Indiana as we look for one of these beautiful little birds. Also, I will be announcing updates on my Orioles and Robins that I've been feeding.
Rose-breasted grosbeaks are stunning birds.
Lovely. And very inspiring💭👌🏽
And 7:32 "chuck the phone on the ground"😆 to hell with tech, give me birds!!! lol.
One of my favourite sounds of Spring is the return of these Grosbeaks at my feeders. To see 2 males at the same time is rare so cool when it happens. The male always comes first then calls the female in. I'm just south of Georgian Bay, Ontario 🇨🇦
Great video Brother....new friend from US...really enjoyedthe video you feeding Robin from your hand....👌👌👌
I just noticed them for the first time today, a small handful of them, just males came to my feeder. I've never seen them before. Thanks for a great video.
I get on “all about birds” from Cornell University’s Lab of Ornithology to call in birds too, except I’ll do so for my feeders. The first time I played the Rose Breasted Grosbeak’s songs and calls, a male showed up within minutes. Now him and his mate are one of the most common visitors at my seed/nut mix hopper. They’re such a beautiful bird with a beautiful song.
The Robins LOVE cherries. I was eating some outside and left the seeds out and they were gone later. Now they get a handful of fresh cherries everyday. If I'm not quick want to replenish they will give me 'the look'. I live in Denver so I am happy to see a Goldflinch and "upside down" birds.....white breasted nuthatch
Lucky You! Only one I've seen was in northwest Texas (of all places!) during the April 2021 spring migration. Was in one of the few trees around lol.
One year to the day I spotted a grosbeak too in NJ. I do Cornell Nestbox Nestwatch for bird counts especially for the Eastern Bluebirds.
I’ve found their continuing song to be very distinctive, and easily identified.

Yay! He uploads again!
I'm in Indiana also, I live next to a wildlife refuge, so I get a ton of birds. Love your videos. Please no twine, string or yarn though.
I agree it’s a great bird with a great sound you of course don’t need to live by a lake or buy a forest. I have them my backyard and I live right in the city.
What app are you using for the calling
It is called "Merlin"
I just had a nest of them on my porch
We had a rose-breasted grosbeak for the first time ever this spring. He stayed for 4 days. I was thrilled to see him and was sad upon realizing he had moved on. Perhaps he will return next year with friends. Thanks for your pictures and narrative.
All those new Orioles at your house must have seen your video.
The sweet songs they sing is just heavenly!😇😇😇 Thank you for sharing these gorgeous clips of all these amazing🥰🥰🥰 birds! The jelly is a lovely I...it's a light birdie version of our wine🍷🍷🍷 without the embarrassing side effects!🤪🤪🤪
I live in the Arrowhead of Northern Minnesota. These Rose Breasted Grosbeaks are always at the feeders. I love them.
Just started seeing a couple of rosebreasted grosbeak...I live in NE texas
Nice! They're great birds.
Excellent video! One constructive suggestion is to avoid putting twine/string out for birds to use in nests, because there are many cases per year of birds getting their wings and/or feet tangled in the string and becoming injured. A better choice is fur from an animal that has not been chemically treated for fleas, if such is available. Thanks again for making these fascinating videos! Keep up the great work.
I'm in south jersey this was my first time seeing this Bird he is so pretty!! Thanks for teaching me a little about him
Thanks for watching Kelly!
Nice job. Great to see close-ups of this beautiful bird. I don't see them in CA
Greetings from Davenport, Iowa. Rose breasted grosbeaks love black oilseeds and readily to go flat feeders in spring. I had a LOT of them this year! Btw, the scarlet tanager's song is also similar to a robin, though it sounds like a robin with a sore throat.
I am between San Antonio and Austin Texas and saw two males yesterday on my platform feeder. I feel lucky.
That's great!
I'm in South central Kentucky...we have about 4 males and 4 females here camped out at our platform feeder...I don't want them to go north...any chance they would stay in our wooded backard?
Yep! They'll be there all summer, as Kentucky is in the heart of their breeding territory.
You'll see them even later in the year down there than I will here in Indiana.
I have seen chickadees in my grape jelly as well. :D
I had a Rose-Breasted Grosbeak come to my feeders this spring. He only came twice but it was such a privilege to see him!
They really are beautiful birds.
I had a male rose-breasted grosbeak at my feeder for the first time today, upstate New York.
Awesome! They are great birds to see and hear.
