The establishment always selectively enforced rules depending on their agenda, They've held up human rights to avoid deporting a convicted foreign national drug lord but dropped them like a hot potato to hold Julian Assange for extradition even though he could face a death sentence.

I met 2 IPP prisoners, 1 was an absolute lunatic and the public definitely needed protecting from him, and the other was a cracking lad who was 5 years into his recall for a petty argument with his neighbour. Someone I know has just been hit with a "99-year criminal behaviour order." Is this the new IPP?

Thank you very much for this, my friend. This disgusting IPP sentence is inhuman. My friend is on his 17th year..
A guy who was inside with me got 18 months for gbh, for defending his gf against scroats...
They dangle the carrot of freedom , in front of the prisoners , with courses , make one mistake and you get.knocked back...
Please do.more on this subject and I hope you get some.ex IPP prisoners on your podcast.

Sam if you look at the records of the majority of elderly ipp you will see that they grew up in care of local authorities and experienced ‘approved school’ regimes. I know because I spent 6 years for stealing 10 shillings the equivalent of 52pence in today money. We were all born into the ‘under class’ on council estates. Most [not all] became the ‘revolving-door’ prisoners we keep hearing about. Thanks for your channel and your compassion. Be safe big boy. Bless x

Officially, Pepsi Watson was dragged back in for the flimsiest of parole breaches, but in reality, his campaigning against IPP and the politicians he called-out for it was the real reason.
Don't know if he's still languishing there several years later or not, do you Sam? That 2nd interview he did on Attwood's channel still haunts me.

Hi Sam :) it is great that as a former prison officer you have come out in condemnation of the IPP system .. I am in Australia and a similar system was enacted retroactively some yrs ago whereby certain prisoners who had served their full time were denied release ..
You obviously had a feel for the job whereas most PO's simply shrug their shoulders at the suffering they witness on a daily basis, you have taken it upon yourself to be involved.. my understanding is prison guards - screws - have a very high job appreciation index, that they really like their job, be that as it may I find your attitude toward alleviating the suffering of those poor souls suffering torture by having no release date uplifting, cheers ..

I knew someone who got a IPP. He committed 3 extremely serious crimes one after the other.
His first stretch was a 14, a home invasion gone wrong. The trigger man served 16, he served 14. The second stretch was a 12. He did a blag when he was on home leave near the end of his original 14 stretch. His last sentence was 9, another blag. They kept him in about 6 years over the tariff, kept failing the D test. When he was at deaths door he got released, he expired 4 weeks later. His relative said years of D abuse wrecked him, the last nail was " spice " did his lungs in.
    RIP Ray

Its absolutely crazy that they did away with the ipp sentence but there's people stil inside on a ipp whos done well over the recommendation. It was definitely misused and given out to the wrong offenders, its just crazy to think someone who commits a murder can be in and out before someone who gets an ipp sentence for something nowhere near as bad or serious.

It's a common sentence in USA,prison is a big business there ..when a system becomes privatised and in UK there are private ran prisons the bread and butter will be ipp prisoners the hard part is finding data showing how many ipp prisoners the private prisons are holding, I tried got nowhere. It may have been abolished but there's loads still locked up years later.
