    You’re saving me some headaches with this! My Das passed, and I just inherited his 2015 Heritage. At 5’5 and 120lbs, and coming off a 650 vstar-I’m intimidated! But really hoping I can make it work for me. So coming across this video really really helps me get in the mindset of I’m going to be able to make it work for me. Thank you!

    Good day from Canada, Jerry! Making the bike fit the rider is, what I find to be the single LEAST discussed part of any new bike purchase or consideration for any rider considering their bike, be it first or 20th. My G/F is working hard at the learning process of riding, and she has a couple of issues that NOBODY understands.. starting with her height at 4'-10 and 26" inseam.. followed by the part where she lived in a remote community as a child and never had a bicycle! The bike she has is a 2002 Kawasaki ZZR-250, and we have customized it to fit HER. The two things that have made the most improvement are the taking the electric knife to the seat foam and taking an inch and a half out of the (stock) 29.5" height, and the purchase of a set of PAZZO shorty adjustable folding levers... the levers come in even closer than the stock adjustable ones! So far, she has put on (gps logged) 2200km and 81 hours of seat time over the past 3 years in her working toward getting her full licence. It has been quite the haul, but absolutely worthwhile! This coming spring, she will be doing the exams and getting her full license! What led me to comment here is how important FIT is to comfort while riding. This is not taught in any of the schools, nor is it ever mentioned at dealerships (other than Harley, with the accessories catalogue), and the best thing all of us experienced riders can do is to explain and help newer riders to make their bike fit THEM. (I have been riding for 23 years, and qualified as an instructor - but did not work long term as such - about 14 years ago... I do a fair bit of rider coaching and private skills development, as I see that as one area that in my location is lacking)... Ride Safe and keep the shiny side up!

    Thought i was smart finding video on youtube to adjust bars on road king, going through headlight to release and take off the lock cover to get to those bolts and you just told me lift off that road king badge and there the bolts were. Picked up this 2020 RK last week wouldnt you think the dealer would let us know these things. Then again i am in Australia but big thanks as i just adjusted them again but this time in 5 mins..

    Sorry I missed you at Bruce Rossmeyer's. I decided to go later after the crowd's thinned out. I went to find out if the reach solo seat would do the trick. It did!
    Meguiar's makes really good product's, try the one that clean's windshield's, I think it is #17, made mine crystal clear.
    I decided to take another rider safety class as a refresher class before riding my new ride around on the road's. Your tip's helped refresh my memory enough to at least ride it through the parking lot a little bit. LOL, the salesman did not think that I could do it, but I did. I know how to do most technique's, but I really would like to tighten up on the basic's. After I do the class on the rebel, and the instructor is sure that I would be good enough to do so, he will allow me to do it again on my own bike. I totally understand why not the first time around, I don't even want to do it my first time around, ha! But, it is key to know my own motorcycle. There really isn't any place that would be safe for me to just do it for the first time on my bike around here and doing it at Destination Daytona was limiting due to the cars being driven around and pedestrian's.. Again, thank you so much for sharing your tips. I totally appreciate your sane, calm, cool and collected way of explaining techniques.

    Maybe on the police models for 2020, they changed the bar height, but the touring models have been the same for years now, CVO's included.

    Hello Jerry, I have a question for you I bought a new 2020 ultra limited Would i change the handlebar or leave it stock. I do long trips with my wife on the back what do you think is the best option for me I had a road glide with 14 ”apes and had a lot of problems with my shoulders during long journeys so I think it would be better to keep stock with my new Harley?

    Hey Motorman, Let me give you a tip of the day. you want a long lasting shine paint and chrome ?, streak free glass ? dark rich black color seat? well, then use lemon pledge. even dollar store brand. wash bike, dry it, spray on and with a soft cloth wipe off enjoy! Thank me later!

  • @46GarageUSA

    WOW, THANK YOU MOTORMAN... I have a 2016 Streetglide, I had Harley put on 10 inch bars instead of the factory 8 inch. Well the service department pushed the bars all the way forward and now my reach is bad. The dealership said they would have to take the front batwing off to adjust the bars and charge me again. I hope my 2016 had those side bolts to access the handlebar bolts. Do you recall Sir, which two bolts out of the four you losen to pull the bars back ????

    • @motorman857
      @motorman857  4 года назад +1

      At 1:16 in this video I show you the 2 bolts to take out, that will allow you to pull the plastic piece under the ignition switch back enough to get to 2 of the 4 allen bolts that hold the handle bars in place. You will need a T-handle allen wrench to loosen the 2 allen bolts, then pull the bars down where you want them. Cover the tank while doing this. You will have to turn the bars to full lock to the right, then to the left to get the bolts loose and to tighten them.

    Jerry, I bought a 2011 Road King classic with 14in ape hangers. I am a police officer and notice that most motormen have bent elbows when riding. With mine, my hands are level with my shoulders. I am looking to master low speed manuevering. Can I do it with these bars? I am a firearms Instructor and generally tells folks "if you can't do it with basic iron sights, that super fancy tricked out weapon aint going to help you." Is it the same principal with handlebars? or is there a difference? thanks Brother, stay safe!!
