What's crazy is GT7 headlights use more than one source, you can see this when the car bounces around or approached different level parts of the track around 6:40 on up, you can see the light intensity change when low beam and high beam converge, really evident on steep grade. PD really went in with lighting, if they had more power they'd have really went nuts. Look at the moonlight gently illuminating the skybox, Forza is invisible for some strange reason. I've never seen a pitch black sky, even in moonless nights due to our atmosphere that's impossible to see happen.

I also noticed that some of the track signage - the white rectangles that look the same size as speed limit signs (I know they’re not.. lol), small orange squares, etc - on the GT7 side go dark when the headlights don’t shine on them. I mean, it’s obvious that they should go dark, but the effect is less evident on the Forza side. I think I understand Forza’s intent for lighting up the whole track, making it seem like a special sanctioned event - but I like the extra fear that GT7’s unlit track gives me.

Gt7 has light beam patten that shows the source of headlight coming from the car it lights up the pavement in front of car and road ahead and it moves with car angles on hills descent - bumps etc. Forza has a stationary white box that only highlights right in front of the car that road beside but not the distance ahead. Their is no concentrated beam pattern like on GT to show it is a headlight coming from a car. This can also be shown in the night rain as GT7 headlights show rain drops falling but Forza headlights doesn't its invisible . Gt7 dynamic light beam > Forza stationary white light filter box. Ray tracing in Forza only applies to cars.
Only the reflections of the cars and some shadows use ray tracing, while everything else remains the same as before (like in FH5).

I believe the reason why FM has many lights is because you can drive “F1 like” cars that doesn’t have lights. So their solution was adding lights at every corner. Idk if gt7 allows those cars in the night but if it would then I don’t think you can even finish in less than 6 minutes like in day time. But still both games follow their own artistic visions.

For a long time I always felt Forza physics shined while in playing on a controller but sucked when using a wheel. With gt I always felt sucked on a controller but feels really good when using a wheel. The latest Forza has closed the wheel gap with a slight edge still belonging to Gt. Forza still feels infinitely better on a controller.
In Gt I feels grip has an on and off button. One minute it’s all good and suddenly it’s gone. When I lose grip I rarely feel like I could have done anything to save it. Every car feels like it’s on rails with excessively stiff springs.
In Forza I feel like I can make appropriate adjustments to regain lost grip. There is more of a middle ground between having grip and losing it completely. Cars in general are easier to drive in Forza but also have a more arcade feel to them. Both games have amazing physics and I honestly couldn’t say who doing it better at this point. One game is easier to pick up and play and I’m not sure if realism is factor or not.
