New sub, was just watching the Charizard League Battle Deck upgrade since I’m new to the TCG and would love to graduate from Pocket to IRL. Your content is a godsend!! Thank you!
i think controversially, because its a collection first game I think it has scope to be more competitive than games like marvel snap because card availability won't be an issue. it's easy to say the gameplay is simple, and it is, I imagine this will only be built on as we go forward but playing the koga deck and getting to make so many lines with using weezing and kogaing out in tricky ways just has me hopeful for the future of the games complexity - I look forward to seeing where it will be in six months time when we have ranked and 1.5 more sets plus events
Pocket got me back into TCG after a near 10 year hiatus. The simplicity of pocket had me wanting more from it that only the full game could really provide. Your videos specifically have been super helpful getting back into everything. Thanks so much for all you do!
Absolutely do not thank at the end of every game when im playing in begginner league and people have a polished deck there is no way im thanking them lol
I dropped Pocket pretty quickly after the initial rush of free packs. I didn’t feel like the benefits of the monthly sub quite measured up to me, and the cost of the poke gold just didn’t seem worth to me. I just hope people don’t spend more than they can afford on this stuff.
So happy for your success! 100K subs is right around the corner, I'm sure. I started following you trying to get my son (then 8, now 10) into the actual card game. He wasn't really into it then, but the pocket battle format he's all about. The streamlined games he can handle better than the standard format. Your content was by far the most helpful, noob-friendly channel I found. Pokemon went big when I was in college, so never got into it until the boy started taking an interest. Hope you keep making content, you're a natural at this stuff, love your content.
Glad to hear your son is finding his footing in Pocket! I think the streamlined nature of it is going to bring a lot of new players to the fold and even inspire some to try the original. But if they just stick with Pocket, that’s great too. And thank you so much for the kind words! Stories like yours are what keep me going. I’ve always aimed to make content that would have helped me get into the game when I was first starting out and it’s wonderful to know that others find value in this work
As a free to play player, i am having fun, even though i dont have that much exs, a lot of off meta decks can win you the game like blaine deck and weezing,
I also absolutely adore the concept of PTCG Pocket, I played it for a few hrs on the first day. But I had to drop it immediately after - in comparison to all the other official card sims I've played (YGO Master Duel, MTGO, PTCG Live), it feels so awfully predatory. The amount of timers and the difficulty of getting cards reminds me of YGO Duel Links, which isn't what I want to be reminded of... I go out of my way to play on those other apps because I want to, and not because I have to build a daily habit of logging in, to have even a chance at staying afloat while everybody else rockets past me. I can take a break from TCG Live or Master Duel and come back whenever I want, knowing I haven't been completely locked out of a chance of getting any deck I wish. They know how good it is having easy access to cards with TCG Live so seeing them go out of their way to make collecting these cards so arbitrarily difficult is like, damn, that sucks. Love your vids, Jett. 💪
I'd counter this and say its miles better than the competition, if you want to spend you can but its absolutely not necessary however you'll get best experience by just having the premium pass and once per set grabbing some gold i think its setup to *look like* its mega gatcha but really once you get used to it, its just turn up play a few games or just open some packs and then dip - it never feels like a second job like marvel snap does just to keep up its just a really old fashioned playing it because i like it kind of thing.
Lili makes VenusaurEx tier A+ for me, I started playinhg 3 days ago, went all in for mew2(fav mon) packs, got inmesive mew2, got 2 venusaurEx, liligant line is super easy to get (available in all packs) so now I have a pretty competitive deck. currently trying to get gardevoirs + ralts line that you can get in the same mew2packs. Also I think Erika as a supporter is super strong and future proof (u get her in charizard packs) I get her and Sabrina with PackPoints+WonderPicks. Im loving this game
Free 2 packs a day is actually generous enough for gacha game IMO. I've been playing since the mid of softlaunch using VPN and finished pika ex, mewtwo ex, venusaur ex, and just missing 1 articuno ex with 425 pack ticket left, and have couple meme deck to play around like fossils, nido couple, machamp ex, without spending any amount of money. just patient and opening pack everyday 😂
Something pretty cool that Pocket does that isn't mentioned much is allowing you to collect the same cards in a variety of different languages whether that be just changing the ingame language before pulling something or having an ingame friend that uses a language different from yours, for example I'm english so that's what I pull myself but I have a japanese guy on my friends list so if I wonder pick any of his stuff it'll actually have the japanese text (also hi, I'm a lurker from your wordpress lol).
I like how easy it is to play it. I came from old school mtg and mtg has become so complicated with so many terminologies and 1-2 turn hax. Pokemon tcgp is simpler. 1 i dont have to worry about "mana". 2 20 card deck size means I dont have to collect 4 of the same cards and most of the time we get to play most of the cards we put on the deck. 3 1 main and 3 bench is easier to look at and monitor versus so many cards in play to account for. 4 it is mobile and can play on my spare time anywhere.
Just to be clear: the carousel has been proven as a "lie". Whatever pack you choose, the cards you'll find are predetermined when you click "Open a pack". I stopped trying to "get the lucky one" (which was already something silly, since you can't know what's inside anyway... But I did believe that the carousel packs were actually different so I had my silly little rituals) and just opened the first pack since I found out about that.
More packs that can be pulled. And also we need more rewards for our wins. Getting XP and then getting nothing from reaching a new level doesnt make sense. The pack rate needs to go up a bit and rewards need to be better. Especially the online scene. Hope with future updates they can improve those particular aspects
I played tcg live a bit now and games format take too long for me. I played tcg back in gen1 and seeing all these new cards, numbers and abilities are so off putting. I also believe it's not that popular while tcg pocket is quick and fun. I play couple games on break here and there and collect cards. Pocket is so much fun for me now while tcg live feels like a drag.
a small tip for F2P, do not link your nintendo ID or anything your account at the start, that way you can just clear the APP data and restart if you didnt pull good enough cards, this way i pretty much started with a fully done Pika EX deck and have almost everything for the MewEX apart from a few cheaper cards...
I think the thing I love most about Pocket is the Energy system, It just seems more elegant than PTCGO, The collecting focus on the game 100% drew me in the most, I'm genuinely a very unlucky person in TCG Games, I never ever draw what I need and in the live game my needed cards are always 9/10 times in my prize cards hiding from me 😒 I Do however hope they reduce the pack points required to pick certain cards, It seems a little over the top right now but I guess time will tell, The win 45 matches event wasn't too bad either! I just basically made sure I struggled through to get 5 wins a day What are your thoughts on the Flair system?
Energy Zone is awesome! I HAAAAATE it in the original Pokemon TCG when you miss an energy attachment for turn. Some decks like Arceus VSTAR lived and died on whether you got that turn 1 attachment and that feeling is awful. The Energy Zone does seem kind of wonky if you’re running a deck that requires multiple energies though. Pack Points are great in concept but everything from ex’s and up are way too expensive. I think it’s awesome that flairs exist and that there are different ones you can choose from. However, I haven’t dabbled in it too much. Especially when there’s rumblings that Stardust will be the currency required for trading.
I found pocket to be really not for me, sadly, despite me really really trying to like it. I'll stick with TCGL for the moment. Glad others can enjoy it though.
I appreciate you speaking from your personal perspective while also being able to acknowledge that others have differing opinions. Sorry the game isn’t your cup of tea but I’m glad you’ve still got Live for that fix.
The only problem with it right now is that evolution decks are weak. We don’t have Ultra Balls to quickly search for our Stage 1 and 2 Pokémon, so naturally, Pikachu EX and Mewtwo are popular because they have 120-150 HP, can easily deal 90-150 damage, and take down other decks with impressive consistency. I tried playing Blastoise EX, and even with Meowth drawing cards each turn, it was still too slow. In many games, I lost simply because I couldn’t even find Wartortle or Blastoise... so, yeah.
Stuff like that could be addressed with new cards. Especially with this being the first set, there’s still so much for Pokemon to refine. It may take time, but I’m certain Pokemon will smooth things out.
I was over it once I learned that it basically has no depth and it's very microtransaction focused (even if you can technically unlock everything for free). As a gateway into the actual TCG, I can see the purpose of it, but since it's also a gateway into lootboxes and gambling... I'm happy to see in the comments that people have gotten interested in the TCG again because of it. It's doing that part of its job, at least. 😊
If the game doesn’t have enough depth to satisfy your personal taste, fair enough. You’re free to like what you like. But I don’t think it’s fair to say the game has no depth at all. If it had no depth, then why does it already have an active tournament scene where some events have 500-1000+ players? play.limitlesstcg.com/tournaments/completed?game=POCKET&format=all&platform=all&type=online&time=4weeks This is higher than anything Pokemon TCG Live or PTCGO has ever seen on Limitless. And if it had no depth, why are pro Pokemon TCG players constantly weighing in with deck lists and strategy? Reigning Toronto Regionals champion JW Kriewall shares his Mewtwo list with strategies: x.com/realjohnwalter/status/1856159263262970183?s=46&t=WvvseieK6nMMQ6rerZFlFw Arguably the best Chien-Pao player Jared Grimes has been sharing Pocket decks and strategies every day on Twitter: x.com/jgrimesey/status/1855324434552537249?s=46&t=WvvseieK6nMMQ6rerZFlFw Tricky Gym took the time out to share fossil tech on their main channel ruclips.net/video/upkBlkAScdU/видео.htmlsi=PTXyKYgIY_fM4Gk8 Azul and Trainer Chip talked at length about how much they liked the game on their podcast ruclips.net/video/uLJyo0s0qvY/видео.htmlsi=or60T2r-6cCCyBgh If this fame truly had no depth, why are there so many competitive players playing it and weighing in with their strategies and builds? It may never get to a place where you want it to be, but there’s clearly enough depth here to maintain this level of buzz among the competitive community weeks after launch. And things will only get better as Pokemon adds more cards to the mix.
It's not a strategy game mostv of the time. It's pure luck with what cards you draw, what energies you get and how the coin flips go. Also there's no way it's 50/50 for each coin toss. I've had matches where my opponent gets consecutive heads and i get consecutive tails. Chances of that actually happening are too low for it to be 50/50. Most of my games come down to a coin toss, it's fucking boring.
I don't have too much free time, so should I just keep playing live? I've been playing for years, and to me, pocket just seems like a dumbed-down version(no hate to new players). I've also never cared about collecting all the pretty cards and whatever.
They really need a game like this for the main format. I've never really played pokemon tcg because all the games have looked like dog shit. This game is super pleasant to play, even if it needs some work (more battle music, etc). Yugioh master duel is where they should look for inspiration in terms of design.
Pocket isn't my thing. 🤷♂ I’m not interested in collecting. I prefer live where I can build fun decks 🎴 to enjoy myself. Thanks for the video, as always. 😊
Great video bro, love how informative your videos are and how they aren't "flashy" or "click-baity"
New sub, was just watching the Charizard League Battle Deck upgrade since I’m new to the TCG and would love to graduate from Pocket to IRL. Your content is a godsend!! Thank you!
Same here! but with the Gardevoir league battle deck videos

same, the content drops off a cliff after a bit. if you crafted anything you shouldn't have and don't wanna spend money its a slog.

Well, it is early days for the game. When they get more sets and introduce trading then building what you want will become easier.

Why did they make pocket instead of just fixing the problems with tcg online??? Wtf
The company that created pocket has no affiliation with the one from tcg live
Also, those are two different products.
One is way more user friendly for newcomers.
@@KingAkisHero ok that makes sense now :(
I played tcg live a bit now and games format take too long for me. I played tcg back in gen1 and seeing all these new cards, numbers and abilities are so off putting. Idk about you guys but TCG fell off after they changed to live the old tcg online was awesome and all my awesome decks are lost forever 😢
a small tip for F2P, do not link your nintendo ID or anything your account at the start, that way you can just clear the APP data and restart if you didnt pull good enough cards, this way i pretty much started with a fully done Pika EX deck and have almost everything for the MewEX apart from a few cheaper cards...
resetting all your data if you get bad luck, while good advice, is an disgusting indication for how much a slog the f2p grind is.

Idk if they do but it would be dope if you could add irl cards that you have to the all like collectr does it? Bad idea?

yeah this game is just way to simple I get way to bored playing it needs alot of work
i'm a free player and i open 2 packs a day now. last 6 packs have been duds. definitely frustrating. battling is still fun
As long as you can get the cards being key. The gameplay is awesome though.
Kind of interesting for a game that’s marketed as the casual Pokemon tcg experience 😂
I was over it once I learned that it basically has no depth and it's very microtransaction focused (even if you can technically unlock everything for free).
