Maybe because Li Bowen and Song Jiyang in real life has quite a big age gap (Li Bowen is among the oldest actors, while Jiyang is among the youngest) so it is kinda... yeah. Song Jiyang is close in age to Wang Houxuan so maybe that's why they are often paired together.

I say the interactions and relationship they presently hold. In the show there characters are good friends so thats the whole reason most people ship them. And for the other ship is because there more interactions . I feel this isnt biased on looked or age.
When I first saw the characters Song Lan and Xiao Xingchen in Untamed, their facial features struck me as fine and visually pleasing. I could not take my eyes off them.

@@daadaa6356 Xiao Xingchen was special to Xue Yang as well, you can see that by the way xy looks at xiao XingChen or the way he behaves around him but unfortunately xy is a psychopath, so he hurted xiao XingChen a lot without even knowing how much he was hurting the only person who ever cared for him. Xy realised how much he cared for XingChen only after his death but it was already too late. There's a reason why people ship XueXiao. If Zue Yang wasn't a psychopathic and evil character with a bad childhood, then XueXiao would probably become the second Wangxian. Yes, Song Lan did care for XingChen but I can't see them as anything other than good friends.

Like, if they meet again when reincarnated especially if xue yang has memories of the past and is like "I'm going to do it right this time". Even then I don't think the ship works without Song Lan somehow involved. Xiao Xingchen and Song Lan are just too much of a pair. It would be awesome if they did a songxiao spin off, the way they did with Wen Ning and Lan Sizhui. Maybe when they've cooled down from Song Jiyang torching the screen in Confess Your Love 🤭. If they can even get sjy and lbw in a room together, that is. They are both very very busy (which is a good thing! they deserve all the roles!) But: I'm sure directors have taken note that these two actors have good chemistry so we will probably see them together again, one way or another.
