To get rid of the steering light, you have to drive a short distance but also be able to turn lock to lock, it'll go out very quickly! It happened with my fabia and caddy, both quickly and easily sorted
When you lock it, you have to hold it on each side, if you lock it to the left fully you hold it there for a sec and then turn the other way. This is mainly for steering angle sensor and when you start the car from the dead battery. Hope that helps, its used to initialise the angle sensor on vag group cars
So I owned a mk2 tts, loved it for me the little things made a difference. Getting rid of that old phone holder in the centre and replacing it with some black mdf, I also put a stainless steel tts cover on the footrest which looked nice. And a ram air induction kit was amazing great sound from it
Looking good Chris. I’m sat here shouting “give it a wash” it’s messing with my OCD 😂😂. Lovin this build the TT is gonna be looking great when it’s done. Top job Chris lad.👍👍
I’m curious, do you guys even see these comments? If so, good on you, bro. Good to see you have the motivation to do all these builds!! Keep it going love from Australia🤙🏼😎🇦🇺
Great vid Chris, sometimes the rear seat brackets get bent when you fold them down or lean on them causing them to not click into place Hope this helps 👍
I have always thought that the a pillars and the b pillars I would cover them in the covering without the padding on the back not to add thickness to the plastic covers and that would help with your areas where the seat belt goes through the plastics as you could tuck the material down around the darker black plastic
Looking great, keep it, car is gonna be awesome when its done, one advice for the alcantara for next time remove the existing material before adding the new one, you won't have fitting issues at all
The mk2 TT is such good value compared to rivals and even the mk5/6 GTI. As you said, parts for these are so cheap and plentiful now, not to mention the power you can get from just a stage 1 tune. This is such a bargain for what you paid, provided the smoke smell is fully gone 😂
Loved my old Mk2 TT and probably should have kept it. Also owned an 8p stage 2+ s3, you could make the TT properly rapid without a massive amount of money.
You've got to Drive the car for a few kilometers and the lights on the dash will go away. Everytime i reconnect the battery on My S3 8P the lights come on and go away after a short drive.
Well done Chris, alot of content in that video. Only thing I can say is I hope you don't get backache not fitting full leather seats. My son had those seat in his old TT and it was painful. Full leather takes that away. Keep up the great work and see you on the next episode 😉🥂🔥🔥🔥🔥🥳👏👏👏
@@Chris_Slix yes we both did, lack of support in that chair, same with passenger. I have leather heated TTS seats now. No backache even after 5 hour drive
Id of been tempted to leave the back seats out for weight saving and put a k brace in! Ain’t getting any normal sized person in there anyway 😉 and every kg counts
The steering angle sensor sometimes lights ABS and Antispin when battery disconnected. And you then calibrate the steering angle sensor by steering full lock both ways. Sometimes you also need to drive it for a few meters. Worked on Audi for 6 years and done this hundreds of times. So No they do not live on another planet.
I've also done this on a A4 b8.5 and it worked, there's videos on RUclips on how to do it, sometimes you need vcds for basic settings steering angle senor calibration but thats definitely part of the process to full lock left and hold for 5 secs them same for right
Technically he’s not wrong, could just be a calibration of steering angle sensor, has to meet certain parameters before and includes moving the car. Common on VAG cars.
Lol that was me! It works trust me. I stripped my seats on my a3 and had the battery unplugged. When I turned my car back on. My airbag light was on and my steering wheel light was on and also the traction control. Turning the steering wheel all the way left and all the way right cleared all the codes.. soooooooo
Dude he's just fixing a car up, no one channel has a monopoly on that, plenty of people have done it before Mat anyway... Plus Mat had a base 2.0 not the TTS and his series was more about mods, not repairing fire damage. I'm just happy to watch more TT content, it's not about who did it first 🤷♂️

You are only person who made almost complete guide on removing TT's 8J interior trim! Thanks!
To get rid of the steering light, you have to drive a short distance but also be able to turn lock to lock, it'll go out very quickly! It happened with my fabia and caddy, both quickly and easily sorted
The lights normally go off after you drive it a few hundred yards. Happens every time the battery is flat or been disconnected 😊
When you lock it, you have to hold it on each side, if you lock it to the left fully you hold it there for a sec and then turn the other way. This is mainly for steering angle sensor and when you start the car from the dead battery. Hope that helps, its used to initialise the angle sensor on vag group cars
Another way you get rid of that light is drive the car at low speed like 10kmph in a straight line and it will go away. I use my driveway for this.

Hey chris! great video, hopefully you can show some of your detailing tips on how to deal with the burnt smell that fire left behind in the TT!
If you kick the back tyer 3 times and spin round 4 times the warning lights on the dash go off mate, I prefer half alc to full leather personally
Nice one Chris.
Your Mrs' dining room table looks great when she's out at work! 😂
That's my mums haha! She doesn't mind, keeps me off the streets.
If the sound deadening is damp, soak it with some concentrated fragrance so it will constantly be coming from the carpet
Looking good! I miss my mk2 :-( you have inspired me to buy another… Maybe even a salvage one!
🆙📤
I would recommend it they are really nice cars to work on 😊 so far…
@@Chris_Slix agreed! I’ve got a eye out!
Congratulations on 20k subs man 🎉🎉
Love the channel. Come across so natural an not acting up like other channels.
Thanks Paul!
Nice work Chris car coming along nicely, just need to get rid of that horrible front spare wheel
Great content Chris enjoyed seeing you and matt the other day at highcross can’t wait for this to be finished
Heated seats are something I never knew I needed until I actually owned on my TT Lol
What a transformation.... headlining is a great touch
Thanks Keith!

New subscriber to your channel, I’m really enjoying the contact! I enjoyed it even more when I saw your lovely whippet! Love sighthounds ❤
Finn is the best part of this channel 🐶
Supp Chris, I’m almost certain I live very very close to you , I seen your blue Aston Martin with your RUclips on the side! Love the cars bro
Glad to see the videos getting longer🙏🏻👌🏻. Keep grafting and get the caddy back!!! Get the Sharon bits bolted on it🤞👀👀👀
I’m curious, do you guys even see these comments? If so, good on you, bro. Good to see you have the motivation to do all these builds!! Keep it going love from Australia🤙🏼😎🇦🇺
Move car forward and do full lock left and right and some lights should be off (abs module have to have a reading from the speed sensors)
To clear the light you might need to calibrate the steering angle sensor then drive it and turn the steering wheel 30degrees right and left
Coming along nicely Chris!
Great vid Chris, sometimes the rear seat brackets get bent when you fold them down or lean on them causing them to not click into place Hope this helps 👍
Ah I see, is there a way to fix this?
love your vids pal, the lights on the dash will go of once you start driving and hit i think its 10mph
I have always thought that the a pillars and the b pillars I would cover them in the covering without the padding on the back not to add thickness to the plastic covers and that would help with your areas where the seat belt goes through the plastics as you could tuck the material down around the darker black plastic

Have moved the car to my house now so hopefully you can actually see what's going on inside the car now!
Loving this build
Nice one Chris it’s taking shape now great job👍

Its definitely getting better. I agree though plus you get 4wd!
Nice one Chris looking great my lights went out after a short run 👍👨🏻🏭
Nice job with headliner
Love my heated half alcantara seats in my TT. Much nicer than the off white one you took out of the TTS
Good work Chris. On with some projects of my own. Keep up the good work bud.
Cars looking good Chris 👌👍
Thought you was going to fit starlight headlining at first. Maybe next time ;)
I have done it too many times now haha.

I was thinking in the previous video how good the interior you’ve gone for would look instead too
You've got to Drive the car for a few kilometers and the lights on the dash will go away. Everytime i reconnect the battery on My S3 8P the lights come on and go away after a short drive.
Be interesting to see how headlining holds up, never seen it done without removing material
I can't see it causing a problem the adhesive is pretty hardcore!
Brilliant job chris lad
Nice stay motivated !
awesome vid mate can you do the prices you payed for things please?
Hi Chris just found your channel can i ask are you the guy it Matt Armstrong videos too

Looking good mate! Do you have the links for the alcantara etc?
Just put it in the description
Looks like a proper bargain for a daily driver.

@@Chris_Slix Great build and it is important to always have something that appeal to the female audience - next build a Ferrari California?
Thee real question is... where's the 135i?
Trying to tune it at the moment! Its been an absolute nightmare but she will be back as soon as it plays ball and i can film on it 😅

Original content as ever....why are most humans leaches and mimic. Sad
Don’t be so self absorbed ! It’s a roof lining not a head lining😅
I definitely think headlining is more fitting for when the glue fails and the fabric is draped over my noggin. 🤣
